I would advice you to move the block as close to the blade as possible, it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a hinge on the block where you fastened the dremel. But before you do anything else - install a vacuum! Carbon dust is very bad for you, even if you are a tuff guy...

I'm considering making one of these, but I would wear a mask and also rig a HEPA filter vac on the side where the dust is shooting out.
