Awesome job mate. I came up with the exact same idea the other day for mounting 8 Rusa stags I took from a cull I was hired to do earlier this year. Such a good way go do it compared to all the guys that waste time and potentially damage the scull drilling into it.

SPEAKING FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF SHOTGUN PATTERN WORK BEGINNING IN THE 80'S THERE IS NOTHING THAT BEATS XR'S IN "CONVENTIONAL SHELLS" EXCLUDING TSS. THERE IS NO REASON TO SHOOT 6'S IN XR'S. STARTING AT 1200 FPS 6'S RUN OUT OF PENETRATION AT AROUND OR JUST OVER 50 YDS. I'VE ALSO CHRONOGRAPH MANY SHOTGUN LOADS.......RARELY DOES A SHELLS VELOCITY EQUAL WHAT THE BOX SAYS......RARELY. THAT ALMOST ALWAYS ARE "LESS." STARTING AT 1200 FPS 5'S ARE GOOD TO ABOUT 60 YARDS, 4'S AT 70 YARDS. THE FURTHEST I'VE EVER KILLED A TURKEY WAS 64 LASER VERIFIED YARDS WITH XR 3.5" 2 OZ LOAD 4'S. HE DROPPED IN HIS TRACKS. KILLED 4 TURKEY'S FIRST YEAR I SHOT THIS LOAD, ONE AT 38YDS ONE AT 42 YDS ONE AT 48 YDS AND THE 64. THEY DROP WITH 4'S LIKE NEVER BEFORE WITH 6'S!!!!!!!! NO COMPARISON!!!!!!

I should just learn how to cut and paste what I'm about to post I've said it so many times There is absolutely no point whatsoever in patterning a shotgun unless you use a sheet of backing paper at least 36"x36" so you can catch at least 95% of the shots pellet pattern. Using much smaller targets like the ones used in this video will at best catch 30-40% of the entire pattern and any patterning data found on such small sheets is essentially worthless. No offence meant but such patterning is a complete waist of shells, time, effort and money. I have in just the last 5 years alone test fired well over 150 12ga 3.5" WLBXR shells in 2&2.125oz #5 shot alone and not counting 12ga 3.5" 2oz #4 and 3" #4 & #5 shot along with testing over a dozen different choke makers and constructions from .650 to .685" Out of 3 different 870"s a Benelli Supernova both a 3" and 3.5" 12ga 11-87 So I feel confident know a thing or two about patterning turkey loads and unless you use target sheets at least 3'x3' you truely are waisting shells, time, effort and money while not learning anything of any value

For me, my BBE shots 3" better. I too have done the same method as you. I personally have not saw where 3 1/2" are a benefit at all.

I have SBE with a Carlson longbeard choke and shoot Winchester longbeard 3 inch #6s I did put a truglo gobble dot pro open site it’s fully adjustable and got it tweeted in most devastating pattern 190 pellets in a10 in. Circle shoot it like a rifle And the flopping starts I’ve taken 15 birds 2 At longer ranges 55 yds and 52 yds extremely pleased

Why aren't you using the longbeard XR choke tube as well ? You would have a tighter than what you ended up with. Why a full choke and not a turkey choke ?

Long beard x r is 1200 ft. The other is 1300 and does not have long beard wad. 2num 4s at 40yds and beyond will break a turkeys neck. Small shot looks great but bigger is better

I would advice you to move the block as close to the blade as possible, it wouldn't be a bad idea to put a hinge on the block where you fastened the dremel. But before you do anything else - install a vacuum! Carbon dust is very bad for you, even if you are a tuff guy...

I like their patterns a lot but got the hooded top and it is supposed to be wind proof but the wind blows right through. The fabric is the noisiest I have ever handled also.
