One of the best plant supplies I have ever bought online were a set of diamond drill bits. At first I thought I'd only use them for the few pots I had with no drainage holes, but since then, the whole world has turned into pot potential. Mason jar? Pot. Ceramic cookie jar? Pot. Porcelain toothbrush holder? Pot. Cute cake pan? Pot. Candle holders? Scented pots! Tea cups? Tiny pots. Glass punch bowls? Big pots! I no longer have to worry about either nursery containers fitting inside a cute cachepot or buying only pots with drainage holes. Now I just put a drainage hole in the cachepot!

Lisa Dostable I find they’re easier to use in my opinion. It allows you to use your hands as normal as possible. When it comes to grow lights that will fit a standard light socket, I have really come to trust the GE brand BR30 LED grow light bulbs. According to my order history the model number is 93101230, and I have the "Balanced Spectrum" bulb for Seeds and Greens. They are very high output (white light) and my plants absolutely love them. I had several plants I had to put in a separate room with no sunlight due to a thrips outbreak, and my plants thrived with just two of these. I also use two hanging from pendant light cords with little burlap shades above my plant shelf. They may not have the level of power that the box-style grow lights do, but they've kept my plants VERY happy and I love that I can use them with almost any kind of lamp or cord so you can keep things looking nice and not overly industrial. I even have one in a little gooseneck clamp lamp so that it can hide incognito behind my larger plants.
For anyone using a heat mat - I recommend using a thermostat with it. I'm not sure about these but with reptile heat mats you ALWAYS must use a thermostat to prevent overheating! heat mats can cause fires when unregulated without a thermostat, even if they seem like they don't get that hot, all you have to do is forget about it and bam! your house will be up in flames! A thermostat is there to regulate the temperature and as soon as the mat starts to get too hot it will detect the temperature and turn the mat off for you basically? Friendly tip from an animal and plant enthusiast :)
Got the same (looks the same to me) heating mat. It's awesome and works perfectly under a propagator. It Increases the temperature inside the propagator by about 5 C degrees, but it also has a precision setting controller if needed.
There are lots of different orchid pots. I don't like that style either. My favourite are the more straight-sided ones and there are some with holes all the way up the sides. They fit in cover pots better too. I have seen them on amazon but they're a bit erratic. I get them from a local orchid nursery for about 50p each.
instead of the plastic to put at the bottom of the pot, i usually cut my jute cloth to size and use that. I think you can use coco fiber mat at the bottom as well.
I have two pairs of reusable gloves that I will use for transplanting or pulling weeds in my outside garden. However, I also have rubber gloves because sometime you really just need to be able to feel more. If I want to check roots without pulling up the plant, or feel the soil moisture, or even if I am trying to save a plant with root rot, it has happened, I want rubber gloves so I'm not worried about them getting wet and I feel like I have more control over what I'm handling. Rubber gloves really do come in handy.

I posted it in the houseplant addicts Facebook group if you want to see what I’m talking about. 100% recommend it; I have so much fun walking around the house with my sprayer hanging like a handbag. 😄
Those gray pots are my favorite! The 5.9” size fits nicely in the 6” IKEA GRADVIS pots, so I can put a plant with a smaller root system but larger stalk in a pot with drainage without using too much soil.

The hard thing about grow lights is there are a LOT of options on Amazon, but many of the options don't give realistic data about how their lights work; this includes overstating wattage/lumens and can be as bad as drawing excessive power from the outlet (and costing you more money as a result). Or any metal stick and a lighter if you're not afraid of mild burns. Ok let's be real if I had a soldering iron I'd use that. I've gotten so many burns over the years XD
I use dish washing gloves since they cover higher and keep more of me cleaner. Separate pair just for plants of course! Def going to go check out those disks and those pots.
I love those pots you suggest and I use them too! ........for philodendrons but not my anthuriums bc I gave them root rot being in a closed plastic pot. So I moved them to white or grey colored clay pots. I considered the orchid pots, and I may still try that for some in the future. Thanks for an awesome video as always 🤩🤩🤩
Jonathan Hernandez you can find some that are made from biodegradable products. Latex is also biodegradable but they take years to break down in the environment whereas there are other products that break down in weeks.
for everyone commenting about the disposable gloves: nitrile gloves are a go-to when sanitation is a concern because reusable gloves don’t offer much protection from bacteria, stains, etc. they also hold onto bacteria/disease so it can easily be passed from plant to plant it is wasteful :-/ but nitrile gloves are great for preventing the spread of disease between plants as well as people
hey good lookin lol nice name! i was trying to explain the same thing in another comment. i am a committed zero waster and sometimes it is more important to create some trash than spread a bacteria. Kaylee has some very rare houseplants and i can totally wanting to take the risk. that being said it is way too easy for people to be distracted with visible trash. It is more impactful to reduce or eliminate consumption of animal products, fly less (or not at all) and stop buying crap we don’t need.
Kayla their plants are usually priced pretty good im in their allot buying stuff but anything that isnt a plant is instantly 6x more expensive like i found a nice haws watering can at homegoods for 4 dollars and my nursery has them for 24
I've been using three different LED grow lights all in E27 size, GE light 9W blanced, Ikea Vaxer 10W and Sansi 36W. I was quite skeptical about it before but I can see real difference after using Sansi one( of course, it puts up more wattage, so maybe results are completely different from low wattage ones). My frydek is growing crazily without loosing older leaves, it has been great for my domestic use ( the bigger the better ig for commercial use)
I've used the GE light 9W balanced, and it is amazing. They're affordable, they can be used with anything because it's just an E27 socket, and my houseplants have grown like crazy under them.
So grateful that I live on the west coast of canada. By the time I'm waking up on friday, you've already put out your video and I can enjoy watching during breakfast :D
I think people need to chill on the gloves thing: she is not a medical person that changes gloves between every patient, going through dozens of pairs a day. Multiply that by the number of nursing staff and doctors in the average hospital. If you guys want to reduce their use, come up with a environmentally friendly alternative for the medical industry. (Well known fact about medical waste ending up in our oceans and washing up on our shore lines, so please do not try to say "medical waste is disposed of properly.") Think about it: how often does this lady really use them? How often does she do a re-pot or re-pot video? Those suggesting garden gloves: how does one go about sterilizing them between plants and what is the impact of those chemicals on our environment via their production? See how this could snowball? Without sterilizing, she would have to own separate garden gloves for every plant she was going to work with. Please don't hate me for pointing out the logic in this. Anyone with constructive ideas about how to make the non-disposable garden gloves safe between plants and user friendly, please post your ideas. This lady's collection is too valuable to take chances with and people like her are not THE source for the massive plastic problem today.
i love those plant pots. i have tons- white, cream, gray and black ones. yes, looking forward to the grow lights video. can you do a humidity video, pls also do one on pests - like plants coming from online nurseries with worms, pests, scorpions and lizards? do you use bonide systemic (scared to use bc of warning label). diluted essential oils to deter pests?
Oh dear, if those clear pots are meant for orchids, just run the other way! They need air! Here are some, which I recommend : www.repotme.com/pages/orchid-pots (p.s. black Friday going on now) The usual orchid bark that I use is the Orchiata bark, different grades for different plants (obviously) : www.repotme.com/collections/potting-medias/products/monterey-pine-bark-small (this can be found in other online stores as well) I just used this shop as an example, many good orchid shops do offer good quality pots, with good ventilation holes on the bottom of the pot. I just want to share the information as I'm sure Kaylee wouldn't mind it. :) these misconceptions are really common, whether it is an Aroid or orchid that people are talking about. Happy growing!
Please please please, include photon research (green and far red photons) when it comes to growlights! It changes everything that people believe about the purple light being better for plants.

Everyone should have a pump sprayer. There's also some where the inner tube is flexible that can be used upside-down.
@@Rena-ej7vv Ive seen a lot of "people" commenting the same thing about sansi lights....it looks more like a campaign than real comments. Your profile is completely blank...like some other people commenting about sansi lights..

Can you do a moisture meter plant care video. You did one for monsteras so something like that but for philodendrons, pothos, ferns, calathea, FLF. Hmm honestly mostly philodendrons. Thanks!!
Is there a cheat sheet somewhere in the world about what level to water different common houseplants using the moisture meter? I'm assuming waiting until the dryness point for every plant doesn't work.
Pothos: wait until dry Monstera: wait til dry Philo: wait til almost dry Pepperomia: every week. Sansivieria: dont water until 2036 ZZ: Water when your children read your Will after the funeral. Cactus: 2077(?) Begonia: every hour? i have no godam idea, mine is confusing tbh. Rare Anthurium from the internet: every day until you lose your cutting because youre such a goddamn helicopter parent, just leave it alone dammit. Alocasia: wait til dry, mostly. Ficus: every week Calathea: just give up already
Linguistics Minor here. Thank you for not only providing great information, but you don’t consistently say “ um” after every word/ sentence . A me problem I know , it’s a fault of mine, so when watching TH-camrs within the plant community so many TH-camrs and people in general say “ um “ after every word/ sentence . Example “ I suggest um, you buy um this um Ph / water um measure , um , it really um helps me a lot, um so yeah um check it out um” when I hear someone use the word “um” it gets under my skin, yes, it’s normal for a lot of us to use the word um, however, I don’t think people realize how much they use that word and it’s very hard to watch/ listen to others . A fun fact , a lot of hiring managers often times listen to how a person speaks in interviews and saying that word “um” a lot shows them 1) how nervous they are 2) if they are able to speak properly. In fact I am not sure you even said the word um, which means you speak appropriately and very well. So thank you for being you, always providing awesome tips , information, your knowledge and straying from the word “um” lol 🤷🏽♀️
"Does it...?" "Does it at all...?" Maybe you should sing your next video. Can't wait for the grow lights video! You asked for video requests. Have I mentioned Rare Plant Index - Aglaonema? Maybe? Maybe not? Just a thought. I have many of them. Thoughts... not Aglaonemas.
Nice video, thank you! I‘m not very experienced, sorry for this question: I take my plants out for watering, it takes literally eternity, amen! Is it okay, when some water stays in the tray or in the outer pot?
I use orchid pots as well, they are also cheaper than normal nursery pots. I buy mine from gardencenters and here in Germany they actually have more drainage holes than yours in the video.
I bought the pots, on your recommendation awhile ago, they are great. My only complaint is they don't make bigger than 5.75". What pots do you use for bigger plants?
That might sound weird, but cheap trash cans or waste baskets can make great plastic pots for larger plants if you're on a budget and/or if you want a more lightweight alternative to large terracotta containers. You'll probably have to burn/melt/drill a few holes in the bottom, and you may have to find a tray separately if you don't want to haul your plant to the bathtub to let it drain, but it works! I have a fairly large Sanseveria in a plastic waste basket I found at the dollar store. It looks great (you can't tell it's a trash can without the cover), it's sturdy and it cost me about $2.
Nice video. How do you add mesh to the drainage holes of the orchid pot? Isn't it a challenge. Also I wouldn't suggest single use and throw rubber gloves since it contributes much to pollution.
I've had a few people tell me I shouldn't have grow lights in my living areas because they cause damage to eyes. If you're interested, I'd love to hear your take on this in your upcoming grow lights video.
I know it's a lot but could you make sure some of your grow light recs are available in the USA? Please. Thank you. This was a wonderful list. Always a pleasure to watch.
I might have to get the moisture meter you have. Mine doesn't seem to be accurate and reads as dry when the soil has moisture to the touch. I was overwatering my plants thanks to the one I got :(
Could you please do a video on things you use to prevent notes and mealy bugs?! I’ve lost way too many to them 😭. Also the soil mixes you use for the different types of plants and the ratios of ingredients :)
I urge you to consider using gardening gloves. Disposable plastic gloves are non renewable, non compostable and contribute to plastic found in oceans. As someone with a large viewership, please consider ramifications.
There are small continuous spray bottles typically used by hairdressers for product. I got one from Amazon and they look nicer than that big mama pressure spray bottle. Lol.
How expensive is shipping on all the soil medium you purchase from Amazon? I imagine for stuff that heavy shipping is outrageous which stops me from looking into ordering online. Which really sucks because there's not great soil options in the small town I live in.

Ah! I love that you use “y’all”. I’m from the south in the US.
In my plastic pots I just make extra holes with a soldering iron - that is only used on pots.
You can also use a glue gun without any glue sticks in it.
@@carolfisch9750 i didn't know that. Thanks😊
Or any metal stick and a lighter if you're not afraid of mild burns.
Ok let's be real if I had a soldering iron I'd use that. I've gotten so many burns over the years XD
Soldering iron has been a game changer! And so easy to use!!
This video was soooooo helpful!!! I am so indecisive when it comes to buying things for my plants so it's good to have a list Kaylee Ellen approved!
We used to use those pressure sprayers to spray down our 4-H pigs when walking them
Can you do a video on Leca? I really would love to learn more about it 🥰
I use dish washing gloves since they cover higher and keep more of me cleaner.
The see through pots are now at the top of my plant parent list! They can even be hidden in cache pots and drill more holes into them!
kaylee: i have a lot of plants
me: *pikachu surprised face*
Are the gloves recyclable or compost able? -or am I being naive-?
Jonathan Hernandez you can find some that are made from biodegradable products. Latex is also biodegradable but they take years to break down in the environment whereas there are other products that break down in weeks.
No, they're definitely not. They're latex, nitrile or neoprene. None of those materials are compostable or recyclable
I wish I had watched this video sooner and knew about those little mesh disks for the bottom of pots.
Oookkkk I need those mesh circles!
for everyone commenting about the disposable gloves:
nitrile gloves are a go-to when sanitation is a concern because reusable gloves don’t offer much protection from bacteria, stains, etc. they also hold onto bacteria/disease so it can easily be passed from plant to plant
it is wasteful :-/ but nitrile gloves are great for preventing the spread of disease between plants as well as people
hey good lookin lol nice name! i was trying to explain the same thing in another comment. i am a committed zero waster and sometimes it is more important to create some trash than spread a bacteria. Kaylee has some very rare houseplants and i can totally wanting to take the risk. that being said it is way too easy for people to be distracted with visible trash. It is more impactful to reduce or eliminate consumption of animal products, fly less (or not at all) and stop buying crap we don’t need.
Plants in France WORD
I love my moisture meter so much I have 2. One for my living room plants and one for my bathroom plants.
Great video! I use a soldering iron to put holes in my plastic pots. Easypeasy!
Gloves are a grand idea!!all good ideas thanks for sharing
My moisture meter is coming in today and it’s all thanks to your other videos!!! Much love 💕
Ordering those pots stat! Thanks for sharing! 💚💚💚
Great information, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to your grow light video.
Dryer sheets work great to cover the drainage hole on terracotta pots 🙂
Update on grow light video?
Awesome suggestions! Im an Amazon fanatic! Lol
Very informative 👏🏾. You should do a potting /repotting video using the orchid pots
My nursery was trying to charge 30 dollars for that moisture meter 🥴 i got it for 6 on amazon
I hate that. I want so badly to buy locally, but the markup on things like this is so unreasonable when you don't have a very high income.
Kayla their plants are usually priced pretty good im in their allot buying stuff but anything that isnt a plant is instantly 6x more expensive like i found a nice haws watering can at homegoods for 4 dollars and my nursery has them for 24
My local nursery has them for $8, glad I was able to shop local in this case!
Please, please, please do not use disposable gloves! Our landfills do not need anymore trash. Get some reusable ones.
Can’t wait for the grow lights video!
(Well known fact about medical waste ending up in our oceans and washing up on our shore lines, so please do not try to say "medical waste is disposed of properly.")
Think about it: how often does this lady really use them?
I use my spray bottle to spray not only my plants but also my curtains to raise the humidity in the air.
i love those plant pots. i have tons- white, cream, gray and black ones. yes, looking forward to the grow lights video. can you do a humidity video, pls also do one on pests - like plants coming from online nurseries with worms, pests, scorpions and lizards? do you use bonide systemic (scared to use bc of warning label). diluted essential oils to deter pests?
Looking forward to the grow light video!
Oh dear, if those clear pots are meant for orchids, just run the other way! They need air!
Here are some, which I recommend :
www.repotme.com/pages/orchid-pots (p.s. black Friday going on now)
The usual orchid bark that I use is the Orchiata bark, different grades for different plants (obviously) :
www.repotme.com/collections/potting-medias/products/monterey-pine-bark-small (this can be found in other online stores as well)
I just used this shop as an example, many good orchid shops do offer good quality pots, with good ventilation holes on the bottom of the pot. I just want to share the information as I'm sure Kaylee wouldn't mind it. :) these misconceptions are really common, whether it is an Aroid or orchid that people are talking about.
Happy growing!
Did you post the Grow Light video as prefaced in this one?
Please please please, include photon research (green and far red photons) when it comes to growlights! It changes everything that people believe about the purple light being better for plants.
Everyone should have a pump sprayer. There's also some where the inner tube is flexible that can be used upside-down.
I absolutely love Sansi grow lights! They’re the best.
are you a bot?
Alex 🙄 Yup
@@Rena-ej7vv Ive seen a lot of "people" commenting the same thing about sansi lights....it looks more like a campaign than real comments.
Your profile is completely blank...like some other people commenting about sansi lights..
Alex I have no idea what is or isn’t on my profile, but I’ve spent the GDP of a small island nation on grow lights and occasionally comment on planty videos like this so maybe someone else won’t waste their money on shitty grow lights like Miracle LED or those shitty China made clamp lights.
Alex Also, this would be one hell of a creative name for a bot.
Pothos: wait until dry
Monstera: wait til dry
Philo: wait til almost dry
Pepperomia: every week.
Sansivieria: dont water until 2036
ZZ: Water when your children read your Will after the funeral.
Cactus: 2077(?)
Begonia: every hour? i have no godam idea, mine is confusing tbh.
Rare Anthurium from the internet: every day until you lose your cutting because youre such a goddamn helicopter parent, just leave it alone dammit.
Alocasia: wait til dry, mostly.
Ficus: every week
Calathea: just give up already
Alex Why does this actually make complete sense? LOL

Moisture meters are amazing ! I’m getting my sister in laws some cause my oh my 🤦🏽♀️
Linguistics Minor here.
Have or would you ever consider leca and soil together? Perhaps layered?
8am. Hits play. Pauses 2 seconds in.
Eyeshadow LOVE.
OK back to the video~
Great video! Waiting for the one on growlights - very hot topic for me right now
So the heat mat is just for propagating? Is it for any kind of plant propagating or just specific plants?
"Does it...?"
"Does it at all...?"
Maybe you should sing your next video.
Instead of the individual plastic mesh circles, I just buy sheets of it from a craft store and cut small pieces as needed.
The gray pots also come in white as well may not be the same brand but are exceptional. Love teh vid thanks
If you want a huge selection of pots, the best sphagnum moss on the market, barks and all sorts, I've been using them for years, Peter White orchids!
I've had a few people tell me I shouldn't have grow lights in my living areas because they cause damage to eyes. If you're interested, I'd love to hear your take on this in your upcoming grow lights video.
great video! as always :) but one question: has there ever since been a grow lights video? because i cant seem to find it :(
I know it's a lot but could you make sure some of your grow light recs are available in the USA? Please. Thank you. This was a wonderful list. Always a pleasure to watch.
I might have to get the moisture meter you have. Mine doesn't seem to be accurate and reads as dry when the soil has moisture to the touch. I was overwatering my plants thanks to the one I got :(
I have made some clothes so I have some left over little tulle pieces, that I have used at the bottom of the pots with bigger holes. :)
Do you still use the same pots now that you have a big shop? :)
With those clear pots, do you also put them into a cover pot so they look better, or do you just keep them out?
