    In this video I take you through my tip top favourite houseplant supplies and care products that I use on my plant collection and help to keep my plants healthy. I use most of the plant products I talk about in this video on a weekly basis, they're all tried and tested and I truly believe in them. Having hundreds of plants can be overwhelming at times, but it really helps when you find great brands, items and products that help to make life as a plant parent so much easier. All of these are based on my personal experience, and I really hope it helps!

    the decorating plant pots with a macrame cord is such a great idea! I gave it a go and I love it! Only I decided not to glue it to the pot itself, but rather made it like a sleeve kind of pot cover, so I can switch things round :) Love it!

    Fungus gnats feed on bark so I use Miracle Grow soil for indoor plants I also filled up all of my previously potted plants. Voila! No more nasty gnats and the soil is nice and light so my plants grow crazy in it!

    Great place to find some good soil materials is the fish/reptile section of a pet store: coco coir, bark, sphagnum moss, gravel, lava rock etc.

    For the price you pay for liquid gold leaf, you could get another fertiliser that doubles up as a plant systemic too which kills pests. Highly recommend SB plant invigorator. It’s cheaper than liquid gold leaf. It’s a liquid concentrate feed/foliar feed too. Haven’t had pests since starting using it more than a year ago

    • @you_gullible_fucc
      @you_gullible_fucc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not to be too skeptical but is that really a thing? I feel like what makes up a fertilizer and what makes up a pesticide are two different things. It sounds like those 2-in-1 shampoo + conditioner products that don't really do a good job because they combine two products that don't have the same function

    • @micheleloh3462
      @micheleloh3462 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use it to treat all the plants that come in from the nursery at the store I work at. Having used most things, SB really does work for pest control and the nutrients can be absorbed via leaf so plants tend to grow more consistently and healthily with it.

    Thanks for this! I struggle with humidity...I'm in Canada. My apartment with 2 humidifiers running throughout the winter I can keep my humidity between 45 and 55 % My plants have adapted. The ones that require the highest humidity I keep close to the humidifiers. Summer is very different here but I struggle on the winter. Thank you for the info on predatory mites too

    I love your idea for ‘fancying-up’ your nursery pots! I’ve been trying to save money by using terracotta pots and saucers and painting them with little ‘match pots’, which is cheaper than China pots, and I did enjoy the craft aspect, but I’m off to buy macrame cord and a glue gun right away! 😀

    SUPERTHRIVE!! that stuff is so great. it helps a lot to reinvigorate struggling plants and can be reallyyyy diluted so you can give extra nutrients but don't accidentally overfeed. Also it is very economical and can be used on any type of houseplant or garden plants/crops. I like it better than seaweed or fish fertilizer which had tinted some of my delicate plants' leaves brown before.

    Love those stick on window box things! I use cord/rope around baby formula containers to dress up for use as outer pots,yes I totally agree that cache pots are very expensive! Take-out clear cups with dome lids are fantastic for propagating,I use cake cooling racks to put over a small bucket to collect water,as I reuse it on other plants,being doing it for years without any issues! That was a great video Claire! Natalie 💚🪴

    I do have the same Levoit humidifier, overall very happy with it except for one thing. My tap water is on the hard side and this is where my problem is. Because of the water the humidifier fills my flat with a white fog, as well as all my surfaces including plant leaves, being covered with white dust which I have to clean every three to four days. A solution is to use distilled water, but the cost of buying 6 litres of the water every day is just too much. Apparently this is a problem with all ultrasonic humidifers. I will soon scrap the Levoit for an evaporative humidifier which does not have this problem!

    • @annemariekoppelaar-passiev5771
      @annemariekoppelaar-passiev5771 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use the humidifiers of Stadler Form. It has multiple filters and essential just works with a fan above a cold water tank. The water evaporates naturally without any mist. Maybe this works for you as well? I have had it for years (to keep my piano happy) but now my growing plant collection benefits from it as wel.

    • @martaplutowicz7987
      @martaplutowicz7987 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently, to get a distilled water all you need to do is freeze a tap water.

    I know that you said that the moss had beneficials, but does that also mean it could potentially introduce pests?

  • @emilybrault2164

    I love your channel! Thanks for all this amazing info. Wondering if I could also you a question? I have a sweet little dubia cutting in a perlite prop box on a seed warming mat and grow light. Was doing beautifully in the box so I thought she'd be ready to transfer to a board. (She had several long 1.5 inch roots and even two additional baby leaves uncurling). So I transferred her to the plank, had her lower portion wrapped in damp moss, but then I came in the next morning to her baby leaves brown and dying. I quicky put her back in the prop box but wondering how to properly transfer prop box babies to their next homes??

    • @you_gullible_fucc
      @you_gullible_fucc ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I know, you can acclimatize them by gradually lowering the humidity, whether that means opening the prop box from time to time to reduce humidity, or put the dubia in a less-but still humid environment like in a cloche, or a makeshift one using plastic cups. You could've also used plastic when you attached it onto a plank to keep the humidity in, or packed some moss between the plank and the dubia for extra humidity.

    Hey Claire! What do you use to clean your plants’ leaves that doesn’t negatively impact beneficial mites? I recently started using them too but my leaves need to a good cleaning because my humidifiers left a white mineralization film on the leaves before I changed up the water I was using for the humidifiers. So just water & microfiber gloves isn’t working.

      Harley G uses lemon or lime juice mixed with water. The acid is just enough to break down the hard water spots without damaging the leaves. A few other channels said the same.

    Its a pitty that Soil Ninja doesn't have the Spagnum moss outside the UK. I mailed them about it yesterday but they can't find a good quality supplier overhere in the rest of Europe. There warehouse in the UK is separate from the one in Europe because of the Brexit 😕.
