  • Onyx Hubs, NOBL TR37 Rims, Sapim Race spokes, will it blend, or is this whole thing overpriced and overrated?
    First impression of this build, riding a mix of different terrain and trail types, wet, dry, loamy, steep, flowy, etc etc.

    So sick! Those wheels look awesome!
    I'd be cool if you did some timed testing between the two wheels sets. Maybe 3 runs with each on the same short trail or something

    Commenting before watching and just based upon the title - Yes. TR37 worth it. I run DT 240 with sapim cx ray on my SL and they are rails. The perfect feel in high speed corners and track really well. I use the TR41's on another bike and are a bit too big of a rim width imo.

    • @Frorideism
      @Frorideism  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dude they are RAILS, exactly that,
      there's something magical about just tilting the bike over an off camber root section and just eat it all up,
      Never experienced that feeling on other rims.
      DT240 CX Ray sounds like a pimpin setup too

    I assume the algorithm knew that I also recently got tr37's with oynux hubs and sent me this. I would agree with your conclusion. Quite enjoying the ride feel, and even though I'm only two months into riding them I have not broken them or any spokes, which is more than I could say for my I9s.
    I also bought before G2 came out :(

      Yeah they seem to hold up right? I've cased and smashed em around abit, some rock hits too, they're 100%, all spokes tight.

    People always think of carbon wheels as being lighter but the most important part is when the right radial compliance is built into the rims, even with aluminum I ride the spank 359 on one of my bike because they feel great, idk about the weight, don't care 😂

    • @Frorideism
      @Frorideism  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah weight... Then they add a 1L waterbottle to the frame and 4 multitools in their chammies,
      Honestly didn't really consider weight for this, more like stability and compliance as you say,
      Have had a few ringers too on the wheels so far, have not exploded yet 🤔

    To be honest with you for mtb you don't need more than 60 engagement points in your hub. I run hope pro4 hub and im very happy. I also owe spank wheels with 102 points of engagement and theyre not as nice to ride.

    • @Frorideism
      @Frorideism  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used to be on hope hubs too, liked em,
      But there's something magical with the instant engage, has to be tried to feel it, you can literally get torque by dipping your toes abit, super nice when you need some extra boost,
      Oh! It's like a nitro-button 😂

    • @MartinTeerly
      @MartinTeerly 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Frorideism on full sus you will get a back kick on jumps. Instant engagement is good for BMX or technical trail bike

    • @Frorideism
      @Frorideism  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MartinTeerly Yeah that was my worry too when I was deciding on hubs, and I feel like the whole industry is in denial about that fact, most people are saying that more engagement is always better: Which is not correct at all.
      And Like you say, the kickback increases with more engagement. So it's a tradeoff.
      On my bike so far Iv'e noticed it but I still feel like that I'm not annoyed by it, my plan was to try - and then get an O-chain if I feel the kickback is too much.
      We'll see where it lands after a few more months of riding :)
