  • i like both saws personally... both saws come with pros and cons the only advantage the sthil ms 661 is longer bar option cons weight.
    the 500i is just so much lighter I'd rather run it easy to start overall must buy kinda saw
    The Sthil ms 500i has the bark box mod & dog fallers from west coast saw.
    The Sthil ms 661 is stock

    Hard worker! Like the comparison man. I have the 661 with an Egan Straight Shot muffler cover and I highly recommend. Throttle response is right on and it will run cooler. Big gains for the money. I’m surprised a lot of you young guys don’t use a small Fiskars or fallers axe and wedges when you’re bucking. Constructive and I know unsolicited advice but throw a couple wedges in when you’re processing those stumps. Freaking slabs won’t pinch your bar and you’ll save gas oil chain and your back. Once again I enjoyed your vid. I can’t justify a 500 and 661 just for hobby milling but your time is money. Stay safe and lets see some more content man!

      I thought I couldn't justify a 661 as a diyer till I got it and I'm glad I did trees around my place are big and I need all the power I can get! I don't use it everyday but I don't care when I need to take down a tree I know I got a beast of a chainsaw to do it!

    Great video I just found your channel! Myself personally I like any big chainsaw. Haven't had a chance to run to 660 yet. Or the 500 I.

    I have a 661 and a 500i, I would only use my 661 before I got the 500 now I only start the 661 if I have a lot of ~600mm+ wood to cut up.

    OMG! That's smaller than the trunk my DeWalt FlexVolt 60 cut up! Lol. I weigh 210 and my 79 year old father-in-law is 190. It took both of us to roll the 30 inch log and it took me 3 battery charges, a sharpening per cut and a couple wedges, but got it done with a 16 inch bar. Then I set it up for the old guy to split on the 25 ton CountyLine by strapping the 16 inch wide x 30 inch diameter log wheels to my Harbor Freight dolly. I useta could cut down, limb and firelog length a tree with that size trunk in about an hour with my old Stihll 026 Pro. I'm dreaming of a 500i to take over where the tiny 026 left.
    The local tree pruner quoted me $8500 for a tree and a few limbs. A cold day in heckypoo. Lol.

    I have the echo cs7310 p 28-in bar and the cs 800 p 32 inch bar. I have been thinking about getting the Sthil 500 I. I would have to order it. Not to many people own that chainsaw. In Piqua Ohio. My sthil dealer, told me he hasn't had one order for that chainsaw.

    Never warm up the mechanism before starting to cut. The 661 is cold, otherwise it would have started straight away. And you attack the piece of wood, poor chainsaw.

    I don’t find my 500 too hard on gas for the size of it. It might seem to be hard but the fuel tank is the same size as the 462 which is 10cc smaller.

      They both run electronics. The 661 is carb and the 500i is injected, which is the way the Karens and Bidens are pushing. Do the bars and chains interchange? The 881 runs entirely different guts, bars, chains and nobody works on them except top Stihl shops. So, find a repair shop that can tweak 881's and you'll have a good shop for all your chainsaw needs.

      For over 32 " bar I would go for 661 ! Under that 500 i any time. All depends how big are the trees you are felling....

    • @istra70
      @istra70 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Before buying, you better watch chain saw injuries.....nothing can cut you worse than sharp chain ! It is the most dangerous tool, so you need to be extremely careful until you become more experienced and after.... There is a lot and I mean really a lot to learn, especially if there is climbing involved.... It is hard work and injuries are common....
      But .... good luck !
