While there is a concert conducted by s p balasubramanyam every year in memmorial of his great father in Andhra pradesh.He used to bring famous musicians to this concert every year.In one of such year Dr.K J yesudas uninvitedly attended this concert and sang karnatic songs.People hearing it were overwhelmed by his amazing knowledge in karnatic.Spb himself praised yesudas and fell on his feet.Yesudas never expected spb doing such a respect.Yesudas said you are also as elder one and should not be doing this.spb replied I am older but you are older than me ,so there is no mistake on falling your feet for blessing and he gave a gift to yesudas for coming and attending the program and singing without accepting any single penny.when yesudas unrapped the gift,his eyes filled with tears.The gift was a photograph of the first ceremony of the concert and was an inaugural photograph.The most surprising factor that made yesudas cry was the person who inagurated the first concert his own guru chembai vaidynatha bhagavathar.Yesudas said to the audience it took me fifty years to come to a place where my guru began.That is called legacy...My favourite spb and yesudas......dedicating to all music fans...

It was first visit of Dasettan to our village and all of us were very much excited. The date of this event according to my jottings in my personal music book is 25.02.1972. Some of the film songs he sang were .. 1. Swarganandini, 2.Uttaraswayamvaram, 3. Nadabrahmathin, 4. Eswaranorikkal virunninu poyi, 5. Darsanam punya darsanam; 6. Kattile pazhmulam and 2 tamil songs.
You are blessed for. your birth itself. Guruvayur is the abode everyone wants to take, with tears in my eyes. I have even had Darshan and pulled the chariot along with my wife and son, Harish in New Jersey. Mahabhagyam.

hearing this concert i cherish those moments before guruvayoor temple where chembai "iswar" swami and dasettan singing together. i pushed my way to the front to take a place near to dias. i forgot myself inbetween the music and saw guruvayoorappan in chembai. now when i write this tears flow from eyes.

Today on listening this concert takes me to my village, when I was only 20 years of age. It is evetr memorable in my life. Nostalgic memories. After this, I had to wait till 1984 Ekadashi festival in Chembai Partasarathy temple, to witness his lone concert, during my leave in native place, which is hardly 4 km from Chembai gramam. Long live Dasettan. Many many happy returns of the day.

Yesudas must be often remembering those good old days , when he was closely connected with Shri Chembai Bhagavathar , who ultimately became his mentor in the later part of his life. Many times in the past, he had expressed his gratitude towards the King of Carnatic music Chembai , whose influence and blessings immensely must have helped him to successfully sail ahead in the marathon musical journey the singer has undertaken. The journey still remains incomplete, as Yesudas still is in search for new horizons , thanks to the blessings of Chembai- Swami.

Padma Vibushan Dr.KJY has full blessings of his Guru. To get a blessing of Guru is a blessing in disguise for Dasettan which I have not heard of after 1970 in singing. No doubt Dasettan KANDANALAM is the gift of Lord Guruvayoorappan and Ayyappan.
