Just seen a whole documentary on John Delorean. Built in Ireland. Quality issues but employees said he was fantastic to work for. John lost everything and including his family. He had a vision though. Good video guys
He was a terrible businessman and ran the company into the ground by paying himself millions out of the company earnings. Because of him, all those poor factory workers in Northern Ireland lost their jobs and had to go back on unemployment benefit.
Did you know he was a victim of sting where to get the company started he tried to sell a large amount of cocaine but ended up selling it to an undercover FBI agent but chargers were dropped
@@Vuzlaa mine was around 50,000. That’s the going rate today for a decent one. If you go up to 60,000 that will get you a very good Delorean. Now having said that you can still pick them up for around 40,000 but you will definitely need to do some work on the car.

Hey I am the kid that works at noddles and company. I saw your car parked. And I go on TH-cam because I wanted to see how it is to own this car. I never thought I would of seen this car in real life!

I know this video is a few years old, but I wanna say I think he hit the nail on the head when he said the appeals to non car people. I've never been one to be super interested in cars, from the time I found out about this car I have seen so many restorations, videos, and information on nearly every inch of it. Like a lot of car people are into super high powered ultra efficient cars, and (while I've become more interested in those over the last few years) the design and quirkiness of this car is still hands down my favorite of anything I've ever seen. It transcends the underpoweredness and questionable wiring set up by just looking so darn cool. Another appeal of it to me has always been something that I think "one day, when I've got a stable career I could be able to feasibly afford to buy and maintain/improve one of these cars with smart saving" which is staunchly different to popular "dream cars". I will say it is kinda breaking my heart though seeing them go from 20-25k for a nice one to like 55-60k, you know. Still maybe feasible in the right situation but the dream is inching further away because of that. Obviously that price is still nowhere near super car level pricing, but it is still an entire year's pay for a lot of people and it's only going to increase further in value. But I don't know, I'm still holding onto hope that I'll be in the position one day to achieve it, here's to hoping.
As a 17 yr owner of a 82 DeLorean vin 11035 I can say they are great cars and when restored correctly make reliable daily driver as I do with mine. Anywhere from a few hundred to over a thousand miles a week and knocking down 28mpg still using K-Jet. I love this old school injection style and followed this build for quite some time! He really put alot of hard work and dedicated time to this!
Big fuel crisis in those times... Minor people were thinking about owning a "sport car" back then due to the price of gas. That's why Delorean made decision to use a .. V6 (in fact V8 with chopped off 2 cylinders - firing pattern and 90 degrees of V8 construction is still present in this engine :)) Fun fact: one of engines considered by DeLorean to be used in DMC-12 was the Alfa Romeo 2.5 V6 'Busso' engine (12 valves version); shame that it didn't happen - DMC would sound and drive better than with PRV engine.
This is one of my dream cars. I'm 21 and I just wanted one for so long and the manual. It's so iconic. I never knew about the movie until much later after I already knew about this car. I know ot was underpowered and my current car a 2013 Mazda 6 with a 6 speed could outrun a stock DeLorean but I would love to just have one. But I don't think I'll find one woth my budget unfortunately. I can hope tho

"a can with a can stainless steel refrigerator on it" (to clean a delorean) that's kinda funny in a way. there is one connection between a refrigerator and a delorean. in the movie 'back to the future' the original time machine was a refrigerator. but the movie makers were scared that kids would lock themselves up in a refrigerator. so they opted for a sport scar. the delorean. now every time people think off stainless steel refrigerators, they have to think of deloreans too.
