@Whipporwill fair enough. Like I said I got the 2020 year Model and am really happy with the purchase... I have heard bad stories and good stories about both companies in terms of Service... To me it comes down to the breaking system. Daiwas magnetic breaks are a more stress free in terms of making adjustments. You can do it without taking of the sideplates.
So I sent it back to the dealer - after over 1,5 months they still havent repaired it. Gave him another week to send me a funtioning unit - in the end I got my money back and bought a 2020 model - no noise, no problem, love the body and looks much more - all in all I got lucky :D
@@Taroth21I got the 2020 model had it for a couple days now, amazing reel, obv you had it for a bit now but like any other reel always make sure to reel oil and grease also every year ideally or maybe every other year depending on how much you fish.
Mine didn’t make any noise but I do know that daiwa undergrease their reels so before I even put line on the new reel I made to do reel oil on the spool tension knob and any other gears or bearings. Been very smooth also. I got a Daiwa tatula sv tws103 btw.
I have last years model 6.3 that did this out of the box. My girlfriend also bought a couple of the 2021 models and one of hers does this as well. Seems to do it more in the morning( maybe moisture ) and also more with lighter weight baits. Not so much with a heavier lures. I'm reading that some reels are coming dry for some reason.. You probably oiled the outside bearing, but did you oil and grease the bearing that is on the inside where the spool engages? I have an 8.1 that I bought a few years ago and when I push in on the gold pinion gear it is smooth.. On the reel that makes the noise, it is very rough and grindy feeling when I push the pinion gear in. I took a toothpick and put reel grease around the outside of the pinion gear and then put it back together, then engage and disengage the reel. This will move that pinion gear in and out and work the grease down between the pinion gear and the bearing..( do not do this without the spool in or you will damage the gears inside the reel. I then took it apart and put oil around the pinion gear and down the middle of it. I haven't opened up the crank side to see if it is all dry inside or or not.
@@Taroth21 I tested mine out today after greasing it up.. no sound and casted fine. Probably got too much grease everywhere cause it doesn't cast short, but the grease is definitely acting as a brake.. I can put it on 0 and whip it and it's not going to backlash..
@@Taroth21 I opened up the great side and there was a little grease on the plastic worm gear but I didn't see much elsewhere. Put a little on the pinion and crank gear.
It’s a dawia if not making noise after a while it’s not working right they will still cast a mile I got new shimanos and I got over 20 years old shimanos still work like they brand new that why I keep using them
I have the same reel and it does the same thing on every other cast but louder like a high pitch sound and I oiled it after and still doing it for a 200 dollar reel not good
@@Wontonnoodle301 that Daiwa is 2x the cost and 2x the reel the Slx is. All reels make noise when casting heavy braid, there’s nothing wrong with that one at all and I own all Daiwa and shimano reels and I have 2 Slxs they are great and reliable for a $100 reel the Daiwas are just buttery smooth the 2 shimano metanium dcs I have are amazing but I love my 4 tatula elites, my 4 tatula sv tws and the 2 steez sv tw I own and the steez is the best reel I’ve ever casted.
oiled the bearings - loosened the tension knob.. I couldnt fix it myself and send it back.. after the store couldnt get it repaired in time (from DAIWA) they gave me a refund and I bought the 2020 version.
How did this Video get 80k views? o.O Why did you watch it and how did you find it? Am really curious..
Literally just found it scrolling through my recommended feed

hahaha.
I found it in TH-cam shorts
No idea , I saw 180k and watched it then was like why? It's the dumbest short ever..
Yeah it suppose to make that sound, it's speaking fish language to tell the fish to bite the hook. It's a new feature

yeah I was busy concentrating on the camera man and forgot to stop the spool xD
having the exact issue on the sv tw right now. shits annoying

Daiwa tends to undergrease the reels. Shimano overgreases the reels.
My tatula 150 did that the first time i used it. I put a few drops of oil in it and havnt had any isdue since

dry bearings probably got them wet?
Came this way fresh out of the box. Even put oil in them but didn’t change anything.
Y'all don't oil/grease your reels before running them?
Exactly. I did mines right out the box
I’ve fished for 20 years and have never had to oil them out of the box but with todays Daiwa and lews almost all are under greased out of the box

thx for the reply.. since it was only a couple of weeks old I send it in for daiwa to repair/replace it. I keep you guys posted.

It definitely sounds like braid. If you had swapped to mono or fluorocarbon the noise probably would have went away.

Same I have 10+ year old shimanos and not a noise or squeak of problem with them ever.
Yes!
I have a new daiwa reel 2021 09 buy just used in 10 time but have sound now!
Probably bearings. My JDM Zillion 1516 has started but it's 5years old and caught about 1000 bass.
Do reel maintenance
@@evannation4842 I do. Bearing wear out
I had the same issue , not as loud. Pulled apart and put quantum hot sauce on all the bearings and spool shaft. noise is gone!!!

Nice backlash
Nice
What type of line mine don’t lay like that
PowerPro 4x 9kg
Noise heck, I'm busy look at that pretty birds nest he got there at the end! 😬
oh come on you had to notice :D
No bird nest with the SV spool impossible
if you got some 30+ braid on there its going to make that sound

I have one doing the same thing. Dealer said it needs greased.
Claim for warranty 😂😂

what? :D
Jeez she screaming for help bro😂
maybe its because I put her on a Shimano Rod...
