Great advice! I did a complete clean, oil, grease and new line during the holidays. Thanks for taking the time and using the KISS principle.

I'm ready for the reel maintenance nazis to show up, "you didn't clean it properly!"
Thanks for the quick maintenance tips, I tore one all the way apart once and said never again. I'll send it off to a pro vs taking all that time. That quick maintenance is probably all you need for years with a weekend anglers use.

I mean, yes, basic maintenance is all you need for years especially if you only fish weekends and have more than one combo, but the thing is the spool is always spinning on 2 bearings not one. :D
Also if you fish in a dirty water a lot of junk will collect close or and on worm gear, this place also deserves occasional cleaning.

A dime works good to pull that screw if you don't have a flathead handy.

One thing that makes bait cast reels to make noise is lack of lubrication at the end of the spool shaft that butts up against the spool tensioner knob.

This was a great video!!! My tatula is also one of my work horses. I went through and did these little things and it's a night and day difference in noise and smoothness. Maybe you can tell me how to tighten up the guide that rides on the worm gear? Mine is loose and when I cast, no matter if near or far, it rattles terribly and I have no idea how to correct it. Would LOVE any tips or advice. Thanks!!!

Hey John... do you ever upgrade the stock bearings? Or put a set of those tricked out bearings in your Tatulas?

You should just launch your boat and go fish the Classic and see what happens! Love the rigging videos!

Can you use this reel for flipping & pitching?

I’m new to baitcasters and my cast literally go like 20ft out. My breaks are set it like 6 and I move the tension knob until my bait slowly goes down. Still only cast like 15 to 20 ft, and I birdnest more than half of the time. Really frustrating to master

Have u experienced any problems with the handle not engaging after a cast? Recently purchased the tatula 300 and sometimes after i cast the handle doesn’t engage the thumb bar having to spin the handle numerous times. It’s also making loud grinding noise when Im retrieving line. Any ideas? Tia.

I’ve not had that happen but just got a 300. I’ll keep an eye for it

So sometimes I think the grease settles or the factory doesn't put enough. PunchFishing has a good break down video on the tatula 100 that should get you through greasing a 300. I had the same issue on a tatula 100 I had, works great and is silent now.

Just the single bearing? There's another bearing under the tension knob supporting the other end of that shaft.

Not for my quick line. In the full maintenance, it needs oil. Thanks

No brake system inside that you can adjust?

    • @TGossOutdoors
      @TGossOutdoors 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

The brake system is the numbers knob where that flathead screw is. Only way to adjust it

...and kind of a chicken shit tip on reel lubrication; you can take a can of aerosol white lithium grease with the extension straw. Flatten one end, insert the straw in the rectangular hole directly under the "worm gear" in the reel. Lightly push the trigger of the aerosol can of white lithium grease as you slowly turn the reel handle. White lithium grease melts off much quicker than true grease made to lubricate reels, but it's a hell of a lot easier to spray grease in a reel than it is to take the reel apart and apply grease properly!
