In your next microfiber towel video, can you say something about how you know when it’s time to get rid of them? Maybe show some examples of what they look like when they are no longer performing up to your standards, how long does each type typically last? I migrate the “good” ones to dirty duty then toss them but I’m wondering if I hang on to them too long!
In my world, when my dog drags them out into my pastures and acts like he's trying to kill a rabbit, that's how I know it's time to retire them to sweat rags. Until then, they're good until they've gotten visible junk stuck in them that won't come out.
I have an addiction.....to microfiber towels! I started with a few Chemical Guys towels. Now I have over 100, mostly from the Rag Company. A different color and gsm for every part of detailing. Even different colors depending on product, like orange for Bead Maker and gray for Paint Gloss. Gauntlet and Double Twistress for drying, diamond and waffle for glass, etc. After one of your earlier videos, I picked up Rags to Riches. I use it to soak the towels, then All free and clear to wash them.
Chemical guys workhorse towels r my new favorite for quick detailers, buffing, door jambs, quick interiors, final wipedowns, wheels, and trim. All different colors to make sure no mix up too. Love them.
Pan, thank you very much! I really liked the illustration you used to demonstrate how polyester and polyamide microfibers work! The example of an open hand followed by a closed hand after exposure of the microfiber to heat was ingenious. I liked the way you described microfibers as synthetic polymer filaments! It made clear the role of polyester and polyamide in the biomechanical properties of microfiber (strength, support, softness and hydrophilicity). Congratulations, Pan. "You're the man!!" I have been detail for years and still learning. I have picked up some very valuable tips to sol e some of those areas that have given me aggravation over the years. Many problems can be over come, but it takes time. Seeing some of your tips has made it a breeze. I'm finishing faster then I have in the past and time is $ for detailers. I'm so grateful your channel exists. I have a zone code I use for the type of towels I buy. I use one color for interior 3 for glass. I use a different color for my window wand stretch covers I use on the deep angled windshields. I wish I could get them with the diamond pattern instead of the Terry pattern. I have not found any but the basic bonnet covers. I still have a lot of your videos to watch.
I have 800 videos and new ones added twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9am EST. Glad to hear you’re enjoying my videos. :) What’s your favourite video on my channel so far?
I love, love ALL the different towels from The Rag Company! What a game changer. Plus, they hold up well after many repeated washings! Very good bang for buck too!

Why do you have to wash before using? i got $800 worth in cleaning supplies avalon kings ceramic coating, the rag company, sooo many other detailing items thanks to you. The best of the best!
I would say that 95 to 99% of the microfibers I have are from The Rag Company. I have 5 categories I use: drying, paint worthy, coating, general-purpose and grunge. k. As my towels get worn, they go from paint worthy to general-purpose (interior cleaning, etc.). when they get dirty, they go into the grunge bin. When they get really dirty they get tossed. Coating towels are discarded after use. I use P&S Rags to Riches to wash my towels and dry them on the delicate setting of the dryer.
Thank you for this, really help clarify how to use the towels. I kept ruining my towels because I was washing them drying them. Because of that I never wanted to purchase a good quality towel because I felt it was a waste of money since they get ruined right away. I purchased three different towels from the rug company and couldn’t be happier with the results.
@@PanTheOrganizer Yes, based on your video we purchased two sets. They have been great and the larger size work very well for the exterior. I had never given much thought to microfiber towels, but these are far superior to what we had been using.
Watched someone online use a 5 gallon bucket with a grid on the bottom. Threw in towels to be cleaned and let them soak then used a 2nd inverted grid on top of towels like a mini washing machine. I personally would dry my towels in a dryer with no heat to flush them up a bit.
I actually use the PFM Drying Towel from Griots Garage which is really good. My wash mitts are from the Rag Company, my glass cleaner is a waffle weave towel from Pro Elite, my no rinse wash towel is also from Pro Elite, and the rest of my towels are from kits I received from The Last Coat and Bead Maker.
Game changer for me was the CarPro GlassFiber glass cloth. For applying cleaner. Then using a deeper pile clothes to buff. Keep your cloths separate religiously to wash.
You’re the best, Pan! I love learning from your videos, my car looks amazing thanks to your tips and tricks. I always look forward to your videos. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Are microfiber towels safe to use? I've done some research on them and even ordered some that had a label on the package saying they can be cancerous due to the Polyamide chemical in them. If that's true, why are we using them? And how exactly are they making people exposed to something that can cause cancer?
Pan as a beginner detailer I bought microfiber towels at Walmart they are called Platinum Series microfiber towels. They have different towels for different things. They may not be good towels. But I've used them on the Camry. They made the Camry shine like glass. They made the old paint pop. Pan they may not be towels for you because you are a Professional detailer but they are for me. You also know I'm a Meguiar's fan. I did buy detailing brushes from Fox Clean they are synthetic brushes. They were a package of 3 brushes. I need to wash and wax the car before cold weather sets in for good here where I live. Anyways I liked this video on the different microfiber towels I'm learning. Thanks Pan.
Another great video, as always! I watched the six-part series with the guys from the Rag Co., so it’s super nice to get this condensed version of what towels are good for what purpose. I use the Gauntlet drying towel - it’s the best I’ve used. I also use the diamond weave glass towels from the Rag Co. - one for the initial wipe and a second one to finish - streaks are a thing of the past.
Hello Pan, I'm just beginning my detail journey, although I have always tried to keep my cars vacuumed and clean, I have only used box store products and local car wash, which over time really swirled the paint finish because of their brushes. I have a newer car now and I want to keep It looking as new as possible so while searching I found your channel and have watched several of your videos, especially on products and tools and I am looking forward to learning more from your channel. Great video, as always! No matter what I do I don't have success with the plush towels. Regardless of everytning I've tried they leave lint. I pretty much use the Gauntlet for drying (best drying towel ever), but otherwise use the 300-320gsm and waffle weave towels for everything else. Happy detailing everyone!
Use them for woodworking instead of tack cloths to remove dust after sanding and before staining. Work great and does not leave any residue as tack cloths can.
Griot’s towels are IMO on par or better than TRC, though arguably a bit pricier. Their ultra plush 620 GSM is one of those towels that I would be devastated if wrecked, phenomenal quality. Their wrinkled glass towels are also worth mentioning, my absolute favorites for glass
I like the edgeless 300, the edgeless 365 for pretty much everything. The 365 and coatings doesn't work for Me... it makes wiping off/leveling smeary. Especially exo. The edgeless Pearl is the towel for leveling. I also use The Rag Company's waffle weave towels for glass. All thanks to You and Your links and videos, Pan! Thank You! Have a nice weekend.
Most of my towels are from The Rag Company. My favorite is the Eagle Edgeless 500. My general purpose towel is by Cobra, called Super Plush. It's a 600 gsm Korean made 75/25 blend. When it comes to glass, I use The Rag Company diamond weave and their FTW twisted loop towel. The waffle weave towels can leave what I call micro lint on glass. When microfiber is catching and dragging on clean glass, the fibers break off in extremely small pieces, leaving an ultra fine "lint" behind.

Most of my stuff is The Rag Company. But Detail Popo. Which is more available in canada. Makes fantastic microfibre products. I use 5 of their wash pads in my bucket. As well as their wheel mitt. Everything else they make is great too. Have exceeded my expectations.
Another great video. I also have the Gauntlet but find it better to use DRY rather than damping it down first with lukewarm water as I had previously done.

Your channel came uo on my feed as I watch alot of detailing channels, I have a 2021 f150 2 door regular cab shortbox which I try to keep clean religiously, it is polished/ceramic coated and get a lot of tips from your channel .
Once again a great video. I’ve started to use “detail Popo” microfibre towels. Very reasonably priced ( carzilla). I use 3D towel kleen soap and it brings them back to brand new after going through the no heat cycle of dryer. I have a bucket with the 3D soap so that I can leave them to soak until I have enough for a full wash. Thanks to your advice I now have microfibre towels that will last a long time. Thanks
Hi Pan. Thanks for the recommendation of Rag Co. Waffle Weave & Diamond Weave towels. These have made glass cleaning so easy. I especially find them useful for large areas like patio doors and casement windows. This has really cut down the time I spend cleaning windows on both the cars and house.
Another awesome video. All of my microfiber towels that I have are from your past videos. I really like the Eagle brand towels. One thing that learned from you is that when drying your vehicle, if you soak and then wring out an Eagle 500 towel, it will pick up lots of water without streaking. I use the Large Gauntlet towel for drying and an Eagle 500 for back up if needed.
Happy to hear that Kevin! One of the goals of my videos is to empower my audience with the knowledge and confidence they need to take their detailing game to the next level all while enjoying the process! :)
Pan, what are some good towels to use for interior? I recently bought TRC All purpose Terry ones and they leave so much lint and dirt, is there any good towels you recommend?
Did you wash your towel before their first use? It's crucial. I never had linting issues with my TRC towels. Here are some that I like for interiors: amzn.to/3sqRXDb Are you in Canada or USA?
@@PanTheOrganizer Yes I washed them before the first use, and I always use an all free and clear detergent. I am in the USA. The ones you listed look much thicker and better than the terrys I have now
Really good video. I use Rag Company Gauntlet large and medium size drying towels, and 500 gsm Eagle edgeless. I also have bunch of 400 gsm towels I bought from The Last Coat. I have few dozen cheap microfiber towels for the "dirty work". And yes the Rags to Riches detergent is very good. I'm glad you brought up caring for the towels, because these are actually expensive tools we use. Good good video.
Very informative video. Nice to see this being covered in detail. I often downgrade my towels after so many uses or if a coating gets applied as well. I used that gauntlet towel when I worked at the museum and it was impressive. Absolutely right about chamois cloths scratching paint if contamination is present. Thanks Pan!

Well Pan, here we go again. As I delve deeper and deeper in to my obsession on detailing my truck and families cars I told you what my wife said about the small Ryobi I ended up getting a couple weeks ago “ What does Pan say about it”. I have that, and my Gauntlets ( 1 big 3 small) for drying. My soaps Adams mega foam and car shampoo. I am stuck and do not see me moving away from Flex Wax anytime soon. I also use the Pure Shine here and there. I have the Adams graphene tire sealer. ALL on your recommendations. Started early July have multiple layers on my 4runner, my wife’s Accord, my two daughters’ cars along with my mother’s car. I also now have tennis elbow, my fault, I’m a bit obsessive😀. Now it’s I think for better micro fiber towels for taking down the flex wax, was going to just go to Walmart and got more of what I’ve been using, ran it by my wife. What did she say you ask without batting an eye. “I’d see what Pan uses” so here I am again. Thank you again Pal
Great discussion on towels. Personally, I like a window with some drag. To me, the extra stiction helps to remove the films that happen inside better than the diamond I have. I prefer FTW towel from the rag company. FTW - For The Window . Been my favorite to clean even stubborn windows and glass mirrors
Awesome thank you for this insight. Perfect timing about 3 days ago I was pondering on my current towels and seeing what to add to my arsenal from The Rag Company.
Yet another informative video!! Im such a beginner, but I have learned who to watch for when it comes to further knowledge regarding car detailing.... will your new line of products (CONGRATS by the way) include microfiber towels?
Good presentation. I have TW, Maguires, Viking, brand microfiber towels. I also have hundreds of Meijer (local store) microfiber towels. They all do what I need them to do! Thank you,
Hard to find but Walmart offers inexpensive Mainstay brand of "face towel" microfiber towels of terry weave that are 70 - 30 Polyester/Poly-amide blend. Those work far better than the "microfiber" sold in most autopart stores. Otherwise I've had good luck with Rag Company eagle 500's and an 800 for roof/hood. Per your suggestions I've been using Rags to Riches for washing the towels. Drying is a challenge: dryer has low heat, but is used for fabric softened clothes as well. My trick is to dry bath or general purpose towels w/o any softener in dryer _before_ the microfibers get dried.
Hello, Pan! Brother, I want to thank you for your links you recommended. I took your expertise videos on detailing my Lincoln MKX. I got $5,000.00 more above the KBB! Thanks to you, the buyer said it was "retail quality" ready. Thanks, Pan! Edited: Question. Any plans of creating a "Pan School of Detailing"? I'll take a trip to Canada to attend and do a side business.
Griot drying towels are my absolute favorite. I got them at Advance Auto. I like the variety of rags from The Rag Company, but they take soooooooo long to ship anything. I avoid them just for that reason.
Thanks Mike! Yeah great crew over at TRC! I met them in person a few times including at their own headquarters in Boise a few years ago, and made a series of videos with them! :)
I really appreciate the video it helps de-mystify the whole microfiber genre. I've come to the same conclusions you have on most of these tips and tricks. I use autofiber, and McKee's 37 microfiber towels, I've also found Harbor Freight's drying towels to be perfectly acceptable, especially for the price! I don't support The Rag Co anymore, but not because of the quality of the products, but instead because of the way I was treated by them on a live call in show. I found them to be condescending, and demeaning to me personally. That's neither here not there, their products are fine... I've found that the Autofiber no streak freak towels to be perfect for window cleaning. I like the edgeless 350gsm from McKee's 37 as my go to workhorse for coatings, general use etc...I also like the the professional dual weave gold towels from Chemical Guys for buffing and rinseless wash. I have a bunch of various towels that I've picked up to try from cheaper sources that aren't the best and I use them for interior, door jamb, and underhood. Thanks Pan and keep up the good work!

good stuff again there pan. I liked your video on rating the towels and they all seem to be close. will definitely look into the rag company for my new vehicles!!
Hi Pan, catching up with the technology available these days. You often mention to discard any towels used for leveling ceramic coatings. Some of the coatings are very specific regarding exposure to water after coating. Would depositing the towels used for leveling the coating in a bucket of water be a viable option? If exposing the fresh coating to water before curing time has elapsed can affect its performance, wouldn’t soaking the towels in water help to prevent the formation of dangerous crystals in the towels? It seems to be a waste of a good towel to simply discard it if there is a potential solution.
I am a long time viewer and love your Channel and professional insight in to auto detailing I purchase a new truck and had the whole truck wrapped in ppf and I had ceramic coating applied to the entire truck over the ppf i need your advice on how often to wash the truck and and what would I recommend to wash the truck with .what would you recommend on which ceramic coating to use that don’t damage the coating and often do you apply it please give me your detailing advice you are the detailing Guru
I was gonna buy the chem guys mammoth but remembered how it sucked at removing water and just push it around, tried gauntlet recently and it was NICEEEEE, removed all the water on a car with one towel.
Awesome video, I've been using the eagle edge less 500 for buffing off onr and on the 1st pass of drying it leaves a trail of lint behind but usually gets picked back up on the 2nd pass when paint is about dry and was wondering if you can reccomend a good microfiber for buffing onr wash because I'm washing these microfibers correctly and still keep linting
Hi again Pan, how are you? I was wondering, how many sets of towels do you have for each task? For example you have towels for drying, for wheels, for engines, for interior, exterior, polish etc. What tasks do you have for each towel?
Hey Pan, another great video 👍. Loved the one that you did just on cleaning microfiber towels. My go too for microfiber is "detail popo" from Carzilla. A big 100x65 1200 GSM 70/30 blend drying towel, and 16x16 350gsm, 16x16 500gsm, and 16x16 320gsm pearl weave for glass and leveling. They are made in S Korea and all 70/30 blend. They seem too work well(not like the cheap Simonize or Kirkland brands in multi packs. Which I do buy for engin work/shop towels and throw them after heavily soiled). 3D towel kleen for soap great price in a gallon size 35$ CND. Will try the P&S rags to riches next time to compare it as 43$ CND a gallon isn't bad either. Will also try an order of the rag company towels as lots keep mentioning them as the go too for microfiber towels 👍
Great video and information as always. Love Rag company towels. Eagle Edgeless series , 70/30 Korean Blends are my favorites. Auto Fiber line I like as well.

@@Jcrz00 I’d say online bc you have more choices to choose from bc I don’t think there a p&s Koch chemie and carpro store near you and I say those brands bc they have very good quality products and just great
@@sergiomoreno4433 could ruin the towels also because you put it on the floor which can easily grab dirt and damage the paint
I would like this as well, please 🙏
In my world, when my dog drags them out into my pastures and acts like he's trying to kill a rabbit, that's how I know it's time to retire them to sweat rags. Until then, they're good until they've gotten visible junk stuck in them that won't come out.
Thanks Pan. I store my clean or new towels in plastic bags so they don't pick up any dust rather than leave them out in the open air.
I use it to soak the towels, then All free and clear to wash them.
so which ones would you recommend for a motorcycle?
"You're the man!!" Waston Ribeiro - São Luís do Maranhão - Brazil.
I have been detail for years and still learning.
What’s your favourite video on my channel so far?
I love, love ALL the different towels from The Rag Company! What a game changer. Plus, they hold up well after many repeated washings! Very good bang for buck too!
Pan, I can't stay away from thought content. So educational, detail oriented and organized. I love your passion for detailing and life. I have purchased many products and love them. Thank you.

👍
Thank you for this, really help clarify how to use the towels. I kept ruining my towels because I was washing them drying them. Because of that I never wanted to purchase a good quality towel because I felt it was a waste of money since they get ruined right away. I purchased three different towels from the rug company and couldn’t be happier with the results.
Glad it was helpful!
Another excellent video providing very detailed information that would have never thought of. The information you provide is second to none.
Glad it was helpful! Have you tried The Rag Company microfibers?
Great content on towels! Who knew there were so many versions for so many different uses! Thanks Pan!
Thanks Luis!
You’re the best, Pan! I love learning from your videos, my car looks amazing thanks to your tips and tricks. I always look forward to your videos. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
I appreciate it! Thank you!
Are microfiber towels safe to use? I've done some research on them and even ordered some that had a label on the package saying they can be cancerous due to the Polyamide chemical in them. If that's true, why are we using them? And how exactly are they making people exposed to something that can cause cancer?
First time using a waffle weave towel on glass I couldn’t believe the difference then regular towels. Thanks for information and video.
My pleasure Shane
Thanks Pan.
Thanks William!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Same here although ive had luck with the Adams Grey.
Use them for woodworking instead of tack cloths to remove dust after sanding and before staining. Work great and does not leave any residue as tack cloths can.
both autofiber and the rag company make incredible towels for auto detailing.
I agree!
Exactly the info I was looking for. Your experience here will be invaluable for frugal guys like me. Thanks, Pan.
Ah I see you found the video I recommended on your previous question. ;)
@@PanTheOrganizer I'm new to channel. Im just going to start watching all your videos fron the beginning. 🤔😁💯
👍🏻
Gotta say thank you for the info. I bought The Rag Company's waffle weave to clean my monitor -- perfect, no lint or streaks!

By far one of my most favorite drying towels. They are super soft too!
I do have to try one. I have 4 double twistress now.
Most of my stuff is The Rag Company. But Detail Popo. Which is more available in canada. Makes fantastic microfibre products. I use 5 of their wash pads in my bucket. As well as their wheel mitt. Everything else they make is great too. Have exceeded my expectations.
My buddy Rick from @radgarage loves Detail Popo towels. I haven’t tried those yet.

Detail popo.. umm... yes
Hi Pan. Thanks for the recommendation of Rag Co. Waffle Weave & Diamond Weave towels. These have made glass cleaning so easy. I especially find them useful for large areas like patio doors and casement windows. This has really cut down the time I spend cleaning windows on both the cars and house.
Good to know!

Hehe tell your wife I appreciate the trust she also has in my opinion! :) That's awesome.
I use edgeless 550 for quick detailer and double twistress for drying.
Two very good choices! :)
How did you discover my channel by the way Sindel?
I like the rag company Gauntlet for drying. Have also had good luck with Viking brand from Meijer as a drying towel.
Great discussion on towels. Personally, I like a window with some drag. To me, the extra stiction helps to remove the films that happen inside better than the diamond I have. I prefer FTW towel from the rag company. FTW - For The Window . Been my favorite to clean even stubborn windows and glass mirrors
Thanks for sharing!
I use the Costco microfibers, cheap and really plush 36 for 18$ can’t beat that
Awesome thank you for this insight. Perfect timing about 3 days ago I was pondering on my current towels and seeing what to add to my arsenal from The Rag Company.
My pleasure!
Yet another informative video!! Im such a beginner, but I have learned who to watch for when it comes to further knowledge regarding car detailing.... will your new line of products (CONGRATS by the way) include microfiber towels?
Thanks Jeanee! Yes I will eventually have microfiber towels in my lineup as well. Many new things planned for 2025!
Good presentation. I have TW, Maguires, Viking, brand microfiber towels. I also have hundreds of Meijer (local store) microfiber towels. They all do what I need them to do! Thank you,
Thanks for watching Tedly!
Good point!

Great work, great video and love the format.
Thanks Jonny!!

Secondly, the Premium FTW is the perfect weight and absorption for detail sprays. Having TRC only eight hours away I get to enjoy super fast shipping while having access to professional brands!
My school’s dryers are apparently very inconsistent and just ruined my brand new microfibers on low heat! New ones will be hang dry only
I use the Chemical Guys products, they are also 70/30 blend. Will give a try to the Rag Company, seems like a decent product )
You should watch a cool series of videos I made with The Rag Company experts about demystifying everything about microfibers. Here's part 1: th-cam.com/video/6dy5PbjT1Cw/w-d-xo.html
The three you mentioned are my microfiber trinity. I especially love the Korean Quadrant towel from Autofiber. I’ve also heard great things about the Klin towels (Hawk Pro Detailing) and am thinking about picking up a few.
Thanks for sharing Cynthia! Hope you are doing well!
Check out there brush caddy for your wash buckets it has special brush holders on it also pretty nifty if you’d ask me 🙌🏼
Pan should I always use gloves when buffing with my micro fiber towels, if I don’t use glove will the oils from my hand get into my working towel.
Hey Pan! Can you maybe show in a video how to use those towels in the best way? I am trying to get into detailing :)
Thanks in advance!
Hi! If you watch my videos, you will see me use all these towels. I have over 850 videos on my channel, with new ones added twice weekly. I use microfiber towels pretty much in every video.
Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on TH-cam as we surpassed 860,000 subscribers and we have almost 110 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
@@PanTheOrganizer Ah, okay, because you said in your video that you have a lot of different microfiber cleaning cloths for each different purpose. Therefore, the question.
I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks!
Thank you as always for the education. I always pick up a few nuggets I did know.
Cool!!
