- Impressive level of skills & control Helicopter Chinook dose an aft-wheel pinnacle landing then climb away backwards. Why its practiced ? The Chinook has a large base that may prevent it from safely landing in circumstance that require an evacuation from a small raised area. This footage was filmed at Dunsfold Wings & Wheels 2018

Looks like he's a fighter pilot recently being handed over a chinook.
It seems so to me too...He must have been a fighter pilot ..That's why he is manovering with Chinook ....

I said so because of the way he did that touch down only with those one set of wheels. That's how fighter jets land, you can watch the video for reference that how the rear wheels hit the ground first.
@@Anu-hs2kuGood idea / connection, but that's a standard roll-on for the Chinook. Not to say that he wasn't a fighter pilot before, but it's highly unlikely.

What an amazing machine! There really is nothing this helicopter can't do. I salute all of the pilots who fly these helicopters. They're very well trained.

You can always tell a chinook by the choppy prop sound.
I was lucky enough to stay at RAF Odiham as an Air Cadet back in the late 80's & it was the best camp I ever went on. We were watching displays like this daily, Chinooks & Puma's doing things I never knew helicopters could do. Awesome! Thanks for he vid Topfelya,

In common core right now, no idea how selection will go, but I’d be ecstatic if I got chinooks. Really awesome airframe.

Our “common core” was called Primary and we flew th-55, which were a blast. Too bad they did away with them. If you could fly them you could fly anything. Got to do hundreds of autos to the ground.
To get a transition you need to focus on your scores and grades. Top of the class will get to pick whatever is available when that class graduates. We got the first 2 Apaches back in ‘86. And 1 shithook.
@@sbdreamin thank you! Im working as hard as I can but so is everyone else, so we’ll see how it plays out in the end. Usually there’s only about 1-5 chinook slots per class and they’re almost always the first to go. Literally never heard someone say a bad thing about them, they’re incredible aircraft with a great mission.
Ok, for some reason the great god of TH-cam suddenly brought me a whole bunch of Chinook videos from across the globe.
Some basic generalizations
1) That's a hell of a helicopter
2) There doesn't seem to be anything it can't do.
3) All pilots of these craft have mad skills at flying
4) They also must be a little bit crazy.

Good ol' Dunsfold, I saw this routine being rehearsed whilst shooting a film in the Top Gear hanger, it was the first time I'd seen the wheelie being pulled off by such a beast. God that was back in 2014! I hate getting old.
Popping a wheelie was actually the very first thing they taught me. It was a very weird feeling.

I mean just being in the cockpit of a 747 is unusual sitting in a cockpit so high up when on the ground, doing a wheelie in the Chinook must be really bizarre, not only being up high when making contact with ground but at such an angle. Spacial awareness must be a mindf**k to keep up with. But at the end of the day, totally Fonzie thing to do 👍👍

theyre meant to be that inflated so they dont burst when a 50000lb helicopter lands on them in a not very smooth way

No it was solid on contact with runway, what you seeing is possibly an optical illusion due to angle of camera and runway slope, looking like right rear eas going flat.

Standing under this huge craft doing sling loading can be terrifying the fist time. After the first few times I enjoyed every bit of time we have to run under it and hookup loads.

I loved working on these, and it is my favourite aircraft of all time.
This puts huge stress on the airframe. Not at all standard manoeuvres. Credit to the pilot though. What fun.
I used to work on these, blackhawks, apaches and kiowas. This is technically the fastest in army helicopter inventory.

I live next to an AFB and these fly by my house and they are so loud! I can feel when they do bombing training too. It always has me in awe
Please tell us what “bombing” training you have witnessed with CH-47 aircraft.
@@WA4Dog they drop bombs on base and it keeps the town up at night so they post when they do it. And all the aircraft zooms by all the time

I was a kid and I was scared as hell when I saw it for the 1st time. Since then I always feel some sort of anxiety when I hear a helicopter... ...especially that deep sound when it goes directly towards you...
The Chinooks would be great for coast guard search and rescue missions involving ships,it would be able to take more people in than the current helicopters being used, not knocking the current helicopters though they are a welcome sight for people in trouble in the water but Chinooks could carry out rescue missions involving oil tankers, cruise ships and other large vessels,

It looks almost like the propellers could hit each other. I remember the first time I saw a two-propeller helicopter I was playing outside of my grandparent's house 7-8 years of age; it scared me. I'd never seen one before, so I didn't know what it was.

so many people hate the Chinook CH-47, i love them, you can put beds, full bath or what ever your heart desires, kinda reminds me of a 200 million dollar 747, but the Chinook CH-47 can hover in one spot, and land where it wants.
