im an ex british airman and the RAF gave as good as thay got in the interservice banter. these guys pushed there machine to the limit for a fallen comrade and to leave there escort was true heroisim. good show, rip pte gray, my prayers are with his family.
RIP Pte Gray and thank you to all the heroes who risk their lives. The Britsh are truly our brothers. They stand beside us in Battle with valor and honor and have done so since the beginning of this war.
Stunning video, showing just how brave you are. My utmost respect to you all. I wish there was some way I could help you all. Rest in peace, Chris Grey, and all of the your colleagues who didn't make it home, you are in our thoughts.
I was a door gunner on a Huey and it is exciting, but scary as hell when you hear those bullets hitting all around you and there is nothing to stop them except metal, meat, and bones. It's not a glorious thing son. But, as an American, I'm glad you British are our friends. You have great warriors in your country.
guys lets just stop argueing whether we should or shouldnt be out there! the fact of the matter is we are and we should back our boys 100%! there doing an amazing job that most of you guys wouldnt even dream of doing. these guys deserve the upmost respect. R.I.P
Hats off to dust Off (MedEvac) Pilots, Medics and Force Protection troops from ALL NATO nations. There is NOTHING they won't do, and NOWHERE they won't go to rescue the wounded! Massive props to one and all. RIP Private Gray . . . you ARE Remembered!
Fantastic video, that really shows how focussed the guys & girls are in our forces. We are eternally indebted to you all for your efforts, you are all hero's in my eyes. The public should fully support our forces, whether you agree with the politicians or not is another matter, the guys & girls at the dirty end of the job are putting thier lives at risk every day, there can be no greater sacrifice. Thank you to all of you.
I always appreciated the guys who flew the dustoff missions. They come into a hot LZ with little protection to carry wounded grunts out. Sorry to hear about Pte Gray.
Somewhere out there there's the vid of them pulling him out for evac. It's on apacheclips at the very least. It's a shame they couldn't save him but the crew did an amazing job getting through that checklist, I've never heard a checklist go that fast, they did their best. R.I.P. brother
Wow this video feels VERY intense. I can't even imagine how it is for all of them. Thank goodness there are men and women on this planet that are willing to do this job, as I'm sure the majority of the population would not ever even try.
Guys if u didn't get a medal from that you get one from me. I guess stuff like this go's on all the time, and for the most part we are protected from ever seeing it. If 1 serviceman reads this message, I support you.
Fuck me, just look at the professionalism in these guys.. I take my hat off to all forces , British, American, French, Canadian and Danish... I would never have what it takes.. Mega proud of you all guys, just to be British
As soldiers, they know EXACTLY what they are getting into. Even if they do not fully accept it. They do their job, and many love it. In my opinion, Gray would think that he died doing what he loved.
Our British Forces in Afghanistan are protecting us while we sleep safely in our beds. They're all fucking heroes. RIP Chris Gray and all those who have sacrificed their lives. We are eternally Indebted.
na mate the Lynx is the fastest helicopter out there. Its that fast the Brits had to design new rotor tech under British Experimental Rotor Programme or B.E.R.P. Its summat to do with the rotor tips breaking the sound barrier
Only 19 years old. He has made such a sacrifice for us. I think it is appalling how it almost is fashionable to slate the War nowadays. I don't care what people say, the men/women out there are doing it for us so we should at least respect their sacrifice.
Is this a reconstruction or the real thing? I mean is there 3 cameras in the cockpit (forward view, pilot's face, copilot's face) recording all the time?
Fair play we've all flown with "CRAB AIR",chunted at the load master and winded up the pilots slagging them off on our flash cards. But at the end of the day when push comes to the shove these boys know how to fly these old war horses and have a thankless job.Respect and thanks to the pilots who evacuated Pte Grey
@elbanoc172 Depends on how much there load is. We really, really need a escort for our helo's and more close air support. Fighters dont count so much, well 518's maybe but they are made for that
i love chinook helicopters , i went in one when i was in army cadets , it was an amazing experince . i wonder what the top speed of a chinook helicopter is probally about 300 mph maybe faster . r.i.p
Why do so many have to die for a cause that's unjust? If Pte Gray could communicate across the grave, would he see his death as timely and a worthy sacrifice, or would he believe he died in vain? As much as I hate to say it, the latter is more realistic than the former. The Taliban are just as strong as ever and show no sign of giving up. Afghanistan is more dangerous and divided than ever. I feel terrible when soldiers get used as pawns for political ends.
Why do so many have to die for a cause that's not just? If Pte Gray could communicate to us after his death, would he believe his death was worth it? By dying has he furthered some cause or made the world better? I
@VirusSh0kz I got 2 more years before I will be joining I'm just hoping we don't withdraw in 2014 otherwise I may not be able to go on tour to Afghanistan which is what I really want to do. RIP Chris Gray.
attacks in NY, London and Madrid were not perpetreted by Afghans nor Iraquis, so why are you waisting time there? while the criminals are free and undisturbed in some city very far form this battle fields. the threat from Afghanistan which is an stone age country is almost none, the real reason is money and politics and to send a young man like Gray to die for that should be a crime, what shame, 20 years old!! almost a kid sacrificed for nothing!
I don`t feel protected at all by my country`s involvement in Afghan. But no doubt, very professional men. Britain needs to sort out its immigration policy and free cash to immigrants. That is the key.
Don't tease him scott, he's a bootneck! Everybody knows booties cant spell! Look after yourself gunfox. Ps...if you're not actually Royal Marines...well I got the wrong name, so sue me.

Love these guys, gives me the goosebumps every time...
"Smooth or fast?... FAST, FAST...." Gets to me allways
great video. Thanks for posting. That was great watching how professional the pilots and crew were but very sad that a you life was lost. RIP.
I didnt know a big helicopter like the Chinook can fly faster than an Apache.
These guys did a tremendous job.
Wow this video feels VERY intense. I can't even imagine how it is for all of them.
Thank goodness there are men and women on this planet that are willing to do this job, as I'm sure the majority of the population would not ever even try.
RIP Chis... I would fly with those two Men any day.

Good guy bad day april 13th 2007! Wish we could have done more for him.
Fuck me, just look at the professionalism in these guys.. I take my hat off to all forces , British, American, French, Canadian and Danish... I would never have what it takes..

Outstanding attempt, they clearly got their stuff together. Unfortunately, sometimes fate is not on your side. R.I.P.
As soldiers, they know EXACTLY what they are getting into. Even if they do not fully accept it. They do their job, and many love it. In my opinion, Gray would think that he died doing what he loved.
That was their first IRT flight of their deployment IIRC, also, don't forget the two crew in the back, pilots are almost helpless without them.
Our British Forces in Afghanistan are protecting us while we sleep safely in our beds. They're all fucking heroes. RIP Chris Gray and all those who have sacrificed their lives. We are eternally Indebted.

We keep him in our memory...
@elbanoc172 Depends on how much there load is.
We really, really need a escort for our helo's and more close air support. Fighters dont count so much, well 518's maybe but they are made for that

RIP mate
Sweet! Are those American or British Apaches?
Cool video!
wasnt this the guy on "ross kemp in afganistan"? who died
This is a perfect situation as to the need for V-22s as SAR. They can get in tough spots and can use the A-10 as escort.
eh...20 years and now he's dead.
that's fucking sad...
Shit man, even privets get ear pieces in the british army?
what program is this from?
Haha "the AMP are firing mortars"... "cool"
Nice video!
R.I.P
ill join you on that one bud
