Thank you for not using music for the entire video, its nice to hear the natural sounds like when the mechanics were getting the Mi26 ready for flight!
Amen
Yes indeed.
Natural implies from nature. There is nothing natural about this, lmao
@@ZOMGitsKENNYyou're missing the damn point smh
Come to think of it, absolutely. Ambient sound for most videos is what is really needed.
Those Maintenance mechanics are some real super heroes in my opinion. To know every part of that machine and make sure that everything is 100% precise and working perfect is amazing in itself.
Yupp! I hope they pay those boys handsomely because many lives and missions are at stake, being rewarded highly will surely have them check for specs of dust in areas I wouldn’t think of.
Dobry mechanik lotniczy musi mieć lata doświadczenia i mieć do tego dryg i zamiłowanie (talent and passion).
I have a son in law who works in the USAF and is a fighter jet maintenance engineer. You are absolutely right. He talks of the huge maintenance manuals and how many hours are spent on keeping a fighter air ready compared to every hour in the air. The pilots get the glory, but really, the engineers are the unsung heroes.
Truly amazing how older aircraft can also be used with newer aircraft. Just imagine what we will have in another 100 years. Can't even fathom such abilities... Thumbs Up!
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed. It is the only thing that ever has.
The tail rotor looks like it can be used as the main rotor on a normal helicopter 😂
It actually is the size of a Hughes/MD 500 main rotor.
@@wanderschlosser1857 Cool! It even has the same number of blades!

I remember when an American Chinook was damaged and couldn't fly and they (not sure who "they" are) sent one of these to fetch it. It carried that Chinook all the way to the home base. Seeing the Chinook dangling below this giant gave a real size comparison. Quite a sight to see
Unglaubliche Meisterleistung russischer Ingenieure ❤
The helicopter was designed by Marat Tishchenko
Ist das nicht doch eine russ. Kopie eines US Helis ?
Well then tell me which helicopter it was copied from if you think so.
3:05 I love the camo - green - flowers pattern of the pilot seats. They looks very cozy like my grandma chair.
A really very impressive start of the largest helicopter, by itself the size is really awesome! And the view from the very top to the bottom. Crass! And of course, not to forget the sound of the start sequence, the engines, as well as the rotor blades and their flap flap flap! That's simply unique. In comparison, every other helicopter is a toy. Cool, according to the hammer, what fits into such a huge helicopter!
what a crazy process of starting! you turn on the apu and it starts. wow!!
I thought It was only me. Just more deceit from you toob and company
LOL! 😆 So true!
Yup... totally spaced on the interesting stuff.
in Russia, Helicopter starts you.
So impressed with the hand crank to open and close the rear hatches.
Because you are really soy boy...
Hand crank drive is used only when there is no pressure in the hydraulic system.
Note: 0:35 Huge Smashed Pipe (Under the Word "Aircraft")
Going Out Of The Engine, Is No Problem For This Beast...
This Helicopter is a 3 Story Alloy Flaying Building.
Amazing Video!
When I worked ATC in Kandahar we had 3 MI-26's that operated out of the airfield. The MI-26 was a beast and always had to use the runway to take off.
Then it would require wings to take advantage of the laminar flow which causes lift .
Magnificent Beast!! Horribly Complicated!! The Pilots seem quite cool and relaxed!! I can't imagine the skill and intelligence it takes to fly this Monstrosity!
Same skill and intelligence set for every helicopter, only this one much bigger but the principle of flying remains the same.
It’s not complicated to fly from other helis
I’m sure it’s not so bad for the pilot now the maintainers on the other hand.
I like that they wrote danger in English.. yes ruskis be scared because we are dangerous
so scared that every time they do a close flyby, the media is full of headlines like "dangerous maneuvers", "intercepted near", "drop fuel at" ...
I remember seeing one at Mt Hagen (PNG) airport in the late 90's. Just the size of the blades alone was crazy to see. It was massive. Sadly I didn't get to see it fly, but wish I had.
I love watching the air refuelers at work!
What a Magnificent Dinosaur Mi -26!
Salute to the Russian innovative Genius.🇷🇺💙🇷🇺❤️

Lindo helicóptero 👍
This helicopter is so big that not only is it the biggest in the world but also the second biggest
as big as the MIL V-12?
As an aircraft mechanic, I can tell this helicopter was built on a shoestring budget! I can see that they reduced the amount of aluminum used as there was only one Longeron at around head height, the crew chief pulled the entry door closed with it's rope and the landing gear don't retract nor are they faired.
Aside from that, I really like this aircraft! I would like to see an updated version where no expense is spared! The main rotor has very a smooth operation so it has a good foundation to start from!
I would like to see Longerons with approx 1 ft. separation running the entire length of the fuselage for greater strength; more windows, cargo tie down rails on the floor at standard widths apart so airline style seating can be installed when not being used for cargo as we'll as proper troop seating. It would be nice to have exterior landing gear pods so they can be retracted (main gear), an up to date glass flight display with an all weather suite package. The cargo bay as well as the whole aircraft needs to fully insulated with sidewall panels to cover all and a/c packs if it doesn't already have them! I would like to see all steel fasteners replaced with titanium to offset the additional added weight. Those are just a few changes to get started with.
An updated version of this bird could be one of the most useful and sold aircraft the world over!
This is why the earth spins, the rotational inertia of this behemoth taking off and landing gives the earth a nudge.
Watching those POV jumps always brings back good memories
I rode on 1 of these a couple of times in afghanistan when working for the Dutch Army.
The sound of those rotors must be wild!?
Luar biasa inilah yg disebut bangsa besar gak kaleng2 masalah teknilogi Rusia emang hebat...... saya dari Indonesia sangat mengagumi rusia....jayalah terus Rusia mantap
It was Soviet empire. With thousands of tanks and missiles but with no meat on shop shelves... I liked some soviet planes but none of them are used now because of high fuel consumption. USSR had unlimited oil supply.
Nom.... De..... Dieu.... merci pour la vidéo❤❤
Such video is a gift for aircraft lovers.
“Ministry for emergency situations.” Sounds like something from Monty Python. 😂
I can't believe how big those wings are!!!
I think this Belarusian helicopter is still of Soviet construction. On modern Mi-26, the entire cabin is already digital and the design already includes composite elements.
Yes, you are right.
20,000+ horsepower over your head, but you have to manually crank a level 800 times to open the doors. That's Russian engineering.
It's there just so you can operate the doors without having to turn on the hydraulics.
Boeing and Airbus have similar systems.
That is probably only the manual backup. It likely has hydraulic pumps to do that when it is running.
"Even though it was never built, the Mil V-12 prototype, which was built in 1967..."
Yeah, I noticed that too.
should say never manufactured instead
You beat me to it!
How to start: turn key, let it warm up a couple minutes, then fly. There. You can thank me later.
They probably meant: “Even though it was never put into production……”
Those grandma covers on the seats were to be expected 😁👍
If Grandma had a rotor, she'd be a helicopter.

Even though it was never built, it was built, huh? Quite a neat little trick
Please keep the caption longer. I have to pause the video several times to be able to read it. Thank you!
Me: "Oh yeah, that's a pretty big helicopter"
*sees guy straddling tail boom*
Me: "Oh damn, that's a REALLY big helicopter!"
Simply amazing that it can carry 88.46% of its own weight… with them seats looking like my grandma’s couch covers😊
Merci 😘

What a BEAST👍🏾😎🤳
I like the rust free engine parts used to reduce maintenance. Old but with a clean engine.
This type of aircraft is the most modern I have ever seen❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮😮😮😮😮
Nice mix of old and new technology!! Lots of Analog Gauges and Digital Stuff!!
She can even interface with a Tablet or Notebook PC!!!!
How about that Loading Truck around 09:15?? That is just too cool!!
That's one nice piece of kit.

Nice to see grandma's touch on the upholstery seats

Wow! He was using a hand pump to open the aft cargo doors! Awesome! Who needs all of that extra weight added by a hydraulic pump! This way in the five minutes it takes to open the cargo doors the crew chief can get some exercise and scan the cargo bay for any maintenance issues!
The brocade fabric on the cockpit seats looks like the pattern off a 72 Chevy Caprice Classic.
The only difference between your abilities and others is the ability to put yourself in their shoes and actually try.
If you'll not settle for anything less than your best, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in your lives.

It is funny to see the attached GPS device on the navigator's cockpit instruments. 😀😀😀
It's a russian style improvement. 😀😀😀
I also used it in this style as a fighter pilot instructor in L-39 in the early years of 2K. 😀😀😀
Good video it is. Thx.

I flew in one of these in East Timor in 2000. Not counting the crew, there were only 4 passengers, myself, 2 of my soldiers and 1 Timorese militiaman detainee that we were delivering to UN police in Dili (the capital) from Balibo on the border. I took a photo and we looked tiny inside the cargo hold. We were almost blown away by the rotor wash it was that powerful. 😂😂😂😂😂
Id like to see this big chopper converted to Electric. It would be a great improvement
to reducing greenhouse gasses and climate change. Im all in with that.
Jumbo is really flying !! …;) Great job but now, a museum to find…
so what is the crazy part of starting the APU, doing checks and taking off?
I posted a comment about that rescued superfortress, destroyed, after thousands of hours work, when they forgot the APU on startup...(should've had an old timer do it?).
The Mil V-12 is by far the largest helicopter ever. It was the brainchild of the Soviet Mil Design Bureau. This airliner-sized rotary vehicle was able to carry almost 200 passengers and payloads thought to be impossible by helicopter. It had TWIN five-bladed 35 m (115 ft) diameter rotors!
It was a cooperation in any way. Everybody knows now all Soviet helis had Ukrainian-built engines, etc. Hundreds of factories proposed their solutions
Like visiting a technical museum.
It would be equally impressive, if it had been a demonstration of the most powerful steam engine locomotive on earth.
Woah those blades are massive
great film !!! but why dont you speak out the comments ??? ... and you deploy the texts "so fast" that it is difficult to "read" !!!
Thanks you
