  • This video will be about unwrapping!
    There are so many ways of creating UVs and doing it more procedural.
    Here you will see most of the unwrapping nodes Houdini offers.
    Unwrapping models can be a difficult and time-consuming process, but with the right tools, it can be faster for similar results. In this guide, you'll learn about the various unwrapping tools in Houdini and how to use them effectively. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced user, this video will help you understand the power of Houdini's unwrapping tools and showing a variaty of options that are available.
    Starting with basic UV mapping and the common setups I would use. This will help you to understand basic unwrapping for either manual or procedural setups. After that a quick summary of most UV nodes is shown. With this overview I hope to show you new things that could be useful when you would create your own UV systems in Houdini.
    Not only will you learn about the unwrapping tools themselves, but also see an overview of UV tools. This also include Labs nodes, which are a great welcome to have more UV options.
    This video is the perfect resource for anyone looking to get into the art of unwrapping in Houdini. So get your Houdini ready and let's start exploring more!

    This is how you condense a 1 hour course into a 8 min video for youtube! Nicely done. Super beginner friendy, thanks.

    WOW! 😍 I'm 18 months into using Houdini everyday for work and this is by far the best quickstart on UVs I've found. Awesome work Simon! Thanks for doing this.
    I'm properly ashamed I got this far without realising I can just rectify all shells that easily 😬

    Thanks so much for this. Can you please describe how I would work with uvs on live action footage for a simulation in Houdini? I'm trying to project them, but how do I make the uvs 'move' or adjust with the moving footage? thanks!

    It would help if you can give info on why you would want to use different approaches. For example, about UV Texture you basically say "you can use this in a variety of ways" ... ok ... so why would you use it versus some other node? Just something to keep in mind for future videos .... it's better to give a little more info sometimes.

    I want to ask you. Can you make a video explaining how to make these beautiful materials in the previous video (Overwatch Procedural House fanart).thanks

      I have had similar questions on that material and trims, so maybe next video I can give a breakdown

    What is a good way to procedurally select a single vertical loop on a cylindrical shape like @3:31? Select top and bottom faces for seams are easy but adding a single extra vertical loop is challenging.

      maybe Find Shortest Path?

    • @simonhoudini5074
      @simonhoudini5074  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is the tricky part. You could use some with the shortest path or combine it with autoseams node, overall there has not been a solution that would work on many different type of models.

      @@ideallyyours Find Shortest Path does seems like a good fit for some cases, thanks for the sugestion.
