  • Hey, im Caris welcome to my TH-cam channel! Tinnitus isn't the end of a happy life and i'm here to prove it. I used to blame everything on my tinnitus and since accepting it, my life has changed.
Tinnitus has been a companion of mine for as long as I can remember. I'm now 22 years old and after many rough years with tinnitus, I have now began to live my life happily. My tinnitus hasn't gone away, but my negative response to it has.
When I was struggling to cope, the search to find reliable information was almost impossible. I have made this channel in hope to reach you at a point in your journey where you need it most.
Here ill share all of my mistakes, management techniques and most importantly, things I wish I knew about tinnitus.
In this video I am sharing my experience of my most recent appointment with a private audiologist, Steven Hale.

My pleasure! And definitely do, so so worth it! Saves a lot of time. Definitely do your research before hand and read reviews before you commit to an audiologist☺️
Also thank you for pointing out the time codes! Lovely observation 😇🤍

I have extremely bad tinnitus, but when I can relax totally , it gets MUCH better. It’s all related to stress 😊

When i go to sleep i actually "like" to listen to my tinnitus (if its not raging) because it makes me sleepy and goes to sleep easy. When im outside and hear it i get super anxious and "panicky"... Strange that the emotions can be so diffrent over the "same" sound. Thanks for sharing!

Me too! I was just thinking this the other day. Sometimes when I’m reading a book, I turn off all sounds and just be at one with my tinnitus. I never thought I’d ever be able to do that peacefully but here I am! Thanks for the comment☺️

    Ive been 3yrs now.
Listened to Julian Cowan Hill, tried having really hot baths before bed and messaging my neck, ears and jaw as instructed , for about 20 minutes, and after religiously doing that for 2 to 3 months I noticed first my tinnitus was a lot less quiter than I intially experienced getting into the bath, and second my central nervous system was far less fixated with Tinnitus and more into my relaxed state.
Every bodies tinnitus is different but I am so glad I tried this gives u some control.
Enjoyed ur update, keep doing the gym work, the body is your greatest alie when your in the Tinnitus world.

Love the positivity, thank you so much for such a lovely comment! It’s great to know you’ve found what works for you, and you’re totally right - no tinnitus is the same and thats why it’s so important to find what works for you. Your body truly is your greatest ally and I have found so much importance in cherishing it after battling with tinnitus. All the best and keep up the positivity , it’s helpful for all 😊💫

Good stuff, thanks again for sharing! On the topic of fitness and tinnitus, I was also insanely worried when my loud tinnitus appeared 3 months ago because there’s all these accounts online of exercise making it worse, highly discouraging elevated heartbeat, and so on. From my perspective, none of this is typically true, and I’d encourage everyone to at least try to return to their exercise routines with an open mind. I’m a keen rock climber and I actually forget about my tinnitus when I’m up on a wall. I also run long distances, and this is a bit harder because running is very meditative for me, and what do I think about when I run? Yep, tinnitus, which is not helpful 😅 running with a podcast is now my way of escaping. However, I can still run a hard half marathon and it doesn’t impact my tinnitus at all. I’m just more aware of it when I run through the silence of a snowy city in the early morning. But it has no negative physical effect. Go out and keep doing all the things you love!

What an uplifting comment, I’m sure everyone who sees it will be thankful for hearing your positive experience. The goal setting in regards to fitness has had a huge impact on my evolution in my tinnitus habituation. Not only that but keeping fit has helped me clear my head and keep my stress levels down - something that often fluctuates my tinnitus. Thanks for being here 😊

Good you got to talk to an expert. In your first video you mentioned that the tinnitus hampers your ability to understand people. That seems unlikely. I have significant constant tinnitus for a couple of months. Came out of the blue due to ear wax (still recovering from the stress), but my hearing is more than perfect according to my audiogram. Despite my tinnitus, although relatively loud, I can hear a hair pin fall in the other room. From what I read it really helps to use your hearing aids as much as possible. Apparently it can drain a lot of mental energy if you don’t. Anyhow, many thx for the videos! Appreciated!

Hello and thank you for your comment! In my first video I was yet to be told about my hearing loss. I have since learnt I have moderate mid range hearing loss and this is most likely why I find it harder to hear people. The combination with tinnitus definitely doesn’t help in my instance. Of course everyone’s situation is unique and it’s really interesting to hear you can almost hear a pin drop - thanks for sharing! I now have hearing aids and they have really helped me in these challenging social situations. Thanks for being here and I hope you’re doing well😊

@@LetsTalkTinnitusyou are right. Every situation will be unique. Hope the hearing aids help a lot with your hearing as well as indirectly drowning out the tinnitus. Love your positive message in the videos. Positive thoughts are the only way out of distress about tinnitus. Keep up helping people. Many thx.

Ive had tinnitus for just over 2 years now. It definitely effected me as its gets me really down at times. Did have a 3 month period in which it didnt both me. but since xmas it seems to come back with a vengeance. My biggest problem is then i stress and worry about, which probably makes it worse. And no one like my doctors or my hearing consultant dont really want to know or do anything about it. So make me feel abit isolated.

Stress is a big thing for me too and it often exacerbates my tinnitus. I find engaging in mindfulness activities really helps distract from my mind. It could be word searches, colouring, cross words, little things like this can be so helpful. These activities also remind me that despite my tinnitus I can achieve things. It all starts with the small achievements. Keep being positive! 😊

I have had Tinnitus for 4 years now ever since I got extremely stressed at work. I stopped going to the gym around 5 years ago where I was very fit. Would going back to the gym help at all?
