    I'm getting more interested in these handhelds, as you said we need to welcome the new tech. Just waiting for Lenovo to release the LEGO in India 😢... Great review. I have the ROG Ally which I picked up at launch, before the Legion Go was even announced but I love it. I also have a desktop with a RTX 3080 and like you, used to higher-end visuals and performance but surprisingly, I'm completely fine with lowering the settings on my Ally. To fire it up anywhere around the house is so worth the tradeoff in visuals and performance. I'm excited to see how the PC handheld market develops over the next few years. Now my gf wants an Ally but I told her to wait till later this year as there will be even better options available.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Paulie! Thank you for watching. I have a feeling that Asus must have done a way better job at building an interface for the Ally ( probably using a version of their Armory crate software) compared to "Legion Space" here in the go which is kind of sluggish and feels disconnected from Windows. Btw, do you miss not having a trackpad or scroll wheel on your Ally? How has your user xp been so far? All things aside..Honestly what a time to be a teenager; there are so many options now to get into gaming. And exactly like you said! Somehow games still look pretty decent even on lower settings on a handheld. And yes! The MSI Claw is around the corner which is bringing an intel based SOC. Im excited to see how this market progresses as well. Thanks again for your comment!

      I love it! That is how it should be. A timeless affair. It is very difficult for some reason to explain to the 'un-initiated' but even when we finish up a good game, its like reading a really good book. Or when you compete in something like starcraft or CoD with a mate, you forge a strong bond.. there is just such a HUUUGE library of experiences at our disposal; something for every occasion and moment. Enjoying the legion go. The legion go w/ a onexgpu has become a docked experience. Tinkered w/ installing 4TB 2280, backplate, repurposed ps5 adhesive grip tape mods. Ready with a power bank for handheld mode.
    There's helpful calibration/ custom tutorial videos to improve windows and legion go settings. Starting to understand the "janky" reference to windows
    If only the screen was mini LED or OLED, alternative shaped Legion go true strike( joy cons) and 3rd party grip adhesives were available!

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh nice! you're really making the best of your device there. I want to get an EGPU and also test it out with this; I have seen a few out there who have gone through this but still need to test it out myself proper. But dang a 2280 in this? must have needed some work to see it all through. An OLED would have certainly been nice; it seems even most laptops are moving to OLEDs now and probably have clearly found a way to minimize burn-in risk . I kept on thinking that Lenovo should also introduce a Microsoft surface type keyboard for this. Would really make the FPS experience come out.

    You got the Go at the PERFECT time. There aren't too many more QoL changes needed, no major bugs, and the Linux community has had enough time to drop excellent OS options. Got a 4TB SSD on mine and will be doing 1TB for Windows with the rest for other distros and VMs. It's a great Swiss army knife for gamers, IT/tech, and cyber professionals. So good I rarely use my ThinkPad or main rig anymore

    I've have the Legion go, Asus rog alley, and the Steam deck. The GO is my go-to device. The reasons why include. (1). Bigger screen (2). Windows 11 and a mouse pad. (3). The controls work better with emulation and some games than the Asus Rog Ally. (4). 2 Type C ports.
    I've seen the MSI Claw is out now, but it looks a lot like the Asus Rog Ally and is missing everything I mentioned above that make the GO my go-to device. I will skip getting that device.
    The only thing I hate about all the devices, and its a BIG thing, is that they are ALL underpowered. The Claw sounds like it is no better even though it's newer and has a faster CPU from what I read in reviews.
    I can't wait for a handheld that can do big games at atleast medium to high settings.

    • @kazmiee
      @kazmiee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I was going to review the claw as well but seems like it is riddled with issues for now. I thought.. intel being intel.. would have some overpowered SOC in the claw.. but oh well.. and a 100% things like a trackpad (even if small) is just so important when dealing with a windows device. I actually did wish Lenovo could have a surface like keyboard on this as well that could simply connect to the type c port at the bottom.
      All the current handhelds being underpowered is also a realization that hit me hard recently. I am hopefully.. in a week.. going to put out a review between the GO and the very entry level Lenovo Loq 15 with a 3050.. the results have been more surprising to me than I thought. :)

      @kazmiee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      oh hey thanks! grateful for the recognition and glad you liked my content. i would say, if value for money is #1 priority for you, then the Asus Ally may be the way to go. It has many great discounts out right now. especially considering that both have roughly the same level of SOC hardware. BUT.. the Legion GO is also discounted these days and I believe it offers little refinements here and there over the Ally. The main feature is obviously the ability to disconnect controllers. If you seek plugging the device to your tv and sitting back for a game while perhaps getting an additional Xbox controller for 1v1 combat, it might offer a bit more convenience. Also, the track pad and scrollwheel can help navigate windows a little better as well compared to the Ally. Let me know what you finally decide on :)

      Welllll.. you would be right.. but.. with the controllers being able to split apart, I can slide the Go into a relatively thinner space as well.. Actually I carried it around easily in my jacket in 3 pieces. The whole thing put together with the protruding joysticks n all will obviously stick out considerably from any pocket. but you're right; the Go is definitely not a generational leap over the Ally and more like a little refinement. We need a whole new SOC from AMD with even more powerful integrated graphics. Or who knows, shoving in something like an RTX 4050 in this form factor can also be a game changer.
      Either way, how long have you been using the Ally? Is it your only gaming system or do you also have a desktop / laptop for your games?
