They literally can't. Even the most cursory research will show that all the talking points they have are completely refuted by facts. EVs catch fire at a far lower rate than gas powered cars. A study of NEW CARS shows EV fires occurred in 0.0012% of EVs worldwide between 0 and 3 years old. Gas cars showed a rate of 0.1%. That means around 75000 gas powered vehicles caught fire worldwide last year. If they were all EVs instead only 900 of them would have caught fire.

I had hoped we would get to vote for him in 2024. The only strike against him that I saw in 2020 was his lack of federal government level experience. I was so happy for his federal appointment. I thought 2024 would be Pete's year. Then the DNC went and screwed us with that nonsense of Biden running for a second term. Biden's attempt to hold on to power was disappointing to me in so many ways.

1 - it's not "dino juice" No dinosaur has ever gone into the making of petroleum. Oil is made from decayed plant matter. It's much like the sludge you find in swamps. 2 - EV's require tremendous amounts of plastics, all of which are petroleum-based anyway. 3- lithium to power said EV's comes from exactly one place on the planet right now. China. North of 80% of all lithium is mined in China, most of which is along the Yellow River. Currently, over 93% of the world's lithium is refined in China. China does not have the environmental regulations surrounding such industry as western countries do. In fact, they have exactly zero environmental regulations at all. This is why the lithium mines in China and the sludge pits around there, are the most environmentally toxic places on the planet. 4- Most cobalt that is combined with the lithium to make the batteries, is mined with literal slave labor in Africa. China currently owns and operates all of those mines. Before you get on some pedestal about the second coming of the battery of Christ, actually research the topic so you know at least a little bit about what you are talking about.

@@VH-Fan-007 Musk has talked about making donations to the trump campaign. Has he actually made any? You'll recall that he's also talked about ending world hunger.
As to the republican stance, it's pretty simple - compare donations from the battery and EV industries to donations from the oil industry.
Then compare the number of people employed in red and purple states by battery and EV companies to those employed by oil and (traditional) car companies.
While we're at it, if republicans accept any of the environmental arguments for EVs, they make it harder to defend the coal and gas industries - also significant financial and electoral supporters.

It’s common knowledge Teslas use the Supercharger network, and while ICE vehicles refuel quicker, fast charging on average is roughly 30 mins - even less charge time while roadtripping due to the Tesla’s navigation system optimizing your charge time with respect to the destination. Other EVs have similar, if not faster charging. Realize there are actual EV owners on this platform. We know what’s true and what’s not about our vehicles. We are able to charge at home overnight, have the car heated or cooled to a comfortable temp. when we leave. It has a range that fits our daily driving needs. On a daily basis, there is no compromise for use, drive as you would an ICE vehicle. When we travel we can schedule charging stops along with rest stops and/or eating while the car charges. I will agree that right now tech has not reached the level of making them optimal for all. I do think the time is coming though.

In comparison, fuel-powered cars, which number about 4.4 million, have had about 3,400 fires during the same time period. However, some say that when looking at the numbers as a percentage, EVs are actually less likely to catch fire than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. For example, research from EV Fire Safe suggests that passenger EVs have a 0.0012% chance of catching fire, while ICE vehicles have a 0.1% chance. A study by AutoinsuranceEZ found that EVs have 25.1 fires per 100,000 sales, while gas-powered vehicles have 1,529.9 fires per 100,000 sales. Tesla also claims that the number of fires involving their vehicles on US roads from 2012 to 2021 was 11 times lower per mile than all other cars."

ev fires do take considerably more water and time to put out. they do shift dependence on opec for fossil fuels to dependence on china for batteries. those aren't lies; even if the guy stating them is probably a fossil fuel shill who's pointing out the downsides for the wrong reasons.
they're also more dangerous to work on because touching the wrong part isn't just a burn but can mean instant death by electrocution, which means training mechanics will be more expensive. they're heavier than ICEs of the same class, so their braking distances and impact velocities are greater, making them harder to stop and more deadly in a crash.
america has a problem with car-centric infrastructure and ev's are like a band-aid on cancer. they have some upsides, but what america needs is fewer cars, more walkable and bikeable neighborhoods, and more trains. we don't need everyone to go out and buy a bunch of expensive new stuff (and send their still functional old stuff to the dump) to fix pollution when pollution is only one of the myriad things wrong with car-centric infrastructure.

Pete was being deceptive in his answer of .05% being bought by FEDERAL Gov. How many State and Municipalities have bought EV's because they were given grants from the Feds? A LOT! Electric busses bought that don't work and the company has now gone bankrupt so they can't be repaired.
He said 80% of EV's are being charged at home...OK! But people who have that option are a small slice of the motoring public, so what's going to happen to all of the people who don't have that option? They must rely on public charging which is totally inadequate and while Pete said 'we've doubled the number of chargers'....they need 100X or more of what exist today.
And...he didn't explain where all the power is supposed to come from to charge all the EV's if they flood the market with them? We're not building Base Generation and 'wind and solar' isn't going to cut it. You can't force a switch over to EV's quickly without the supporting infrastructure which doesn't exist now or for the foreseeable future. They're forcing companies to mass produce EV's that aren't selling and costing them BILLIONS of dollars to build vehicles that people won't buy. It's lunacy.

@@recoilrob324 electric car sales in the U.S. have increased dramatically over the past 5 years, mirroring trends around the world. People like to save money on gas. And the cost of production is gradually closing in on ICE vehicles, as the technology improves.
The rest of your points are mainly about infrastructure. There aren’t enough charging stations. Sure, and at one time the road system for cars was patchy and unreliable. We didn’t tell people to go back to riding horses. The road system improved because there was no choice. Cars were here to stay.
