  • In this video I make a start on repairing the crash damage on the 1993 Mk1 Ford Mondeo saved from the scrapyard.
Stripping it down, assessing the damage and fitting the new/secondhand parts ready for its first venture onto the road.

Excellent work. I'm more interested and excited for this project than a Ferrari.

Thanks. Funny how you mention Ferrari as there's a link to them in one of my next videos :)

1.6 GLX is a very rare combination GLX we’re usually 1.8 and the odd 2.0. Definitely a keeper 😊

Most likely because it was made early (Aug '93) into the mk1 production run. Lots of bits on it were dropped in 94 i believe (side repeater location, door mouldings, half painted bumpers, dohc on the rocker cover etc etc)

@@DipstickUK my dad had the 1.8 GLX M829WSX that one didn’t have a rear spoiler but like you said they dropped a few bits. The wheel trims are so hard to find maybe a owners club or marketplace you may find an odd part with any luck 😊

Great stuff. Just one tip, as your windscreen looks original and a bit weak, try not to screw down the scuttle panel too hard as it can crack it. Guess how I know. Yes, you got a later wing there, bit unlucky! If there turns out to be any screen wash leak when you re-fill, it might be well those little plastic/rubber connectors than run off the pump. They perish.

Thanks for the tip. Yep, I was very careful however the windscreen is shot anyway. Has a crack and white delamination around the edges so will need to be replaced anyway.

A lot more content to come for 'Peter The Mondeo'. Got a 1st drive to complete and its currently undergoing a make over for a charity car rally in a few weeks.

Great Salvage! Was it expensive.?! You just don't see them anymore. My dad used to have one. Subscribed as I must see the maiden voyage. Cheers Cortina Mac in Stafford.

The GLX got ABS as standard in 95, you just missed out 😮

Bleed the brakes and get some decent pads discs on that and you'll be impressed how good they feel, the non abs versions have the best feedback

Looks great but you have a 1993 mk1 with a late 95/96 wing so the indicator hole is lower then the passengerside and cant re-use the black trim

I spotted that and show that at the end of the video. On sourcing a correct one already. The joys of buying a mk1 wing with no pictures from a salvage yard...took a punt. Punt went wrong. At least it will still be on the road this week :)
