    Game seems fun, but the video seemed to lose it's purpose and just became about bashing commander instead of introducing a new fun game.

      Yeah, same. Just assuming I know how to play a new game and instead complaining about Commander was annoying. If I hadn't watched other content about SW:Unl I would be completely lost.

      I mean the title is how this game avoids commanders mistakes... and he straight up says this isnt a video to teach you the game

      It definitely came off that way. Like I get that it’s easier to talk about what you want out of the game with Commander as a frame of reference, but it really does lean on Commander a bit too much. Like it sounds like it’s just a completely different game that better scratches the happy feelings he gets from Commander. Which is great and fine, but it’s like me saying I like Nutella because peanut butter was badly made lol.

      @@Nick-ff4is exactly, what I love about commander is the fact someone CAN just combo out and you have to be smart about how you deal with that kind of player. Put more pressure on them early, make sure the table is aware of combo piece threats, actually have knowledge of the game and be skilled at the game versus just a pool noodle fight with everyone.

    Honestly, I wanna play this game so bad but they way they dropped Starwars: Destiny turns me off. I'll just keep hoping MTG will crossover with Starwars.

    Imagine if the rules committee optimized their format to be like this. But no, we have to tune the knobs ourselves while wizards prints insane cards that the team very selectively addresses.

    Actually makes me interested in playing this with my play group. The video in general speaks of real problems with commander gameplay, which is interesting to watch, even without care of the game he’s highlighting.

    my main concern with those games is that they are inevitably going up against magic 30 years worth of cards
    the average player, and i'm very guilty of this myself, is going to think "eh, i already know this game, and i can also do way more mechanically cool things in here, also there are way less players, why should i switch?"
    and i want them to succeed, i didn't try this star wars game myself, but for example, i tried the digimon tcg and i absolutely love how "mana" works there, gives sequancing a whole new dimension because what you play directly affects how much your opponent can play on his next turn, that's a neat mechanic, magic could make something cool with the concept probably
    and i also "played" the wizards of mickey tcg, i won't pretend to know what i was doing, but that also felt interesting in some way
    but magic kinda created a monopoly on trading card games, with (as far as i'm aware at least, glad to be proven wrong) only pokemon and yu gi oh managing to stay alongside it for more than 1/2 years before collapsing

    • @LemorasCards
      @LemorasCards  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The concept of creating custom rules or setting a standard for how you play. Like everyone deciding to purposefully bring weaker decks to self balance.

    I have been a big fan of Fantasy Flights LCG (living card games) since 2016 with their games Android Netrunner, Legend of the Five Rings, and Arkham Horror LCG. And while FFG may not have the lock on rules / templating like Magic does, as almost all of their games end up having fringes and clarifications to make things work as intended, their games always exude a certain aura of pure fun that I really appreciate. Ive been enjoying played sealed so far and im looking forward to dipping my toes into twin suns and constructed; glad to hear that youre having fun too!

    • @LemorasCards
      @LemorasCards  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm usually not a sealed player myself and have really been enjoying it. Also didn't expect to be playing premiere much but multiple locals having such sizable weekly events it feels like a no-brainer and it's a ton of fun.

    So when I play a deck like Trostani I should just win whenever another player loses cause I can easily have more life than all the other players combined? I also wont use Partner, Companion, Friends Forever etc unless they're unpaired... so I can't imagine myself wanting a partner mechanic in another game. :^) If you want your games to devolve into a slugfest you could just play Marisi or Thantis.

  • @dariomenegazzo8039

    The player with the highest life total wins ?
    I can see no problem down the line folks, not like every game will end up in a stale mate since you can't kill a player until you are the one with more life points than the others, so keeping each other in constant check

  • @Dtoszi
    @Dtoszi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Not having instant wins is (for now) THE biggest advantage the game has over Magic. Nothing’s more boring than having an all out fest of setting up rube goldberg machines or armies and some nerdlinger essentially flips the table out of nowhere and says “I win” because they had 3 mana.
    Even cEDH games I’ve been to recently have gotten much more quiet and less people are showing up more often.
    This game inherently making the back and forth part of the game instead of something you have to casual rule will prove to be a great thing in the long run, but only if they keep at it. Something I’m also apprehensive about because of this company’s last tries at tcgs

    • @LemorasCards
      @LemorasCards  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The one thing I'm also hopeful for is that even if a combo gets printed that they immediately address it in the banlist instead of letting the game become about that.

      well it's also spring .... the cycle of the LGS is a real thing. It should level out and ebb and flow about every 75 days within the normal % variances.
      SW Unl has the downsides though, more of a "sins of the father" thing

  • @matiasnl

    I’ve been playing MtG commander for about 2 years. SW Unlimited just solves everything I’ve hated about commander with friends. Commander’s issues kind of stem from magic as a game, imo. I don’t think magic has ever presented me with interesting decisions as much as Star Wars Unlimited. Haven’t played a ton of the multiplayer, but the bit I have played has been so fast, and so fun, and just as interesting as 1v1. Crazy and chaotic and fun.

      I will say I was kinda in this camp for a bit and fell out of the series for awhile. Disconnecting from it for so long maybe helped me get into this now though, and it kinda being its own thing that doesn't try to change the series is all upside
