    Yay!!! Ansellia 🙌🏼 🤸🏼‍♀️🙌🏼 that is wonderful news 🤩 my kingianum is in spike on the little growths and i am so excited 🎉🎉 looking so much more like a bigger orcbid, but still not the size of the mama 🥰 hope you are having a wonderful day, already, amiga mia 😊 cloudy today, here, so the temperature is not sufficient to take my orchids outside. Xyliano is already out of his cage. Might as well 😅

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      Hi dear Nina!!! I was a bit disappointed that Ansellia did not bloom last year but I understaood this would be it when I saw the size of the new fat canes. Too bad I lost some but it all adds to my learning curve. Your kingianum may take some time to take the size of mama but it is wonderful that it blooms regularly from now on. I love the cashew shape of the blooms and the honey scent. My aphyllum also has tiny protuberances on both long canes, I hope it's buds. Sunny day but cool over this side of the border, hope you get lots of sun, as well. If not, Xyliano's gain 🤣🥰😍😘

      A great week to you too dear Mary and thank you so much for being here. I am very ansious about the Ansellia. I hope all goes well and we have some blooms finally. The Kingianum is one of my favourite. I love the cashew shape of the blooms and the honey scent. Another thing I like about it is that it blooms regularly every year and that is so relaxing and trustrworthy 💖😘😍🥰

    Nice update. I'm looking forward to seeing where you decide to place your oncidium type in your garden. The Zygos are looking good. You're going to have a wonderful show with the kingianum. It's unfortunate that some canes rotted from your Ansiella, but that's very exciting that it's producing buds! The Aloes in your garden look so cool! Hope you're having a wonderful week. 😊

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      Yes, too bad some of the canes of Ansellia rotted. As it was warm rain I figured that would be ok. But I was wrong. Anyway, it's all part of our learning curve. About the Oncidium, I realized many people around here grow them on trees with success and so I am willing to try too. I just don't know if I have the right kind of tree because not all trees are suitable. I may have to take the risk to find out. Have a great sparkling day 🥰😍

    I have one Zygopetalum and it is withering away! Somehow also the Miltoniopsis hated the new environment.
    I saw some Ansellia africana in bloom at the botanical garden here! So nice. Can't wait for the one you sent to take off. Right now, it is in Germany with my partner and he loves it so much! I hope yours will develop well!!!

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      I have been researching about the Oncidium types and. I learned that they don't really like to have their roots enclosed in a pot, with some exceptions. Vendors have to sell them in pots and they stand it, at first. But after a couple of years they start losing roots and die. Maybe that is what happened to your Miltoniopsis. Have you tried growing your Zygo in sphagnum moss? I don't use it much but apparently they need a humid environment around the roots. Mine are in coco chips but most people use the moss ir other very retentive substrate. Glad to know baby Ansellia is doing well. I am so looking forward to the blooms from mine 😃🥰❤️

    • @MattbyNature

      @@FernandaNascimentoOrchids I did not know that! So they’re better off mounted?
      I really thought for mine it was the transplant shock - somehow none of the Oncidium relatives loved it.
      I’ll have to try out moss for the Zygopetalum…

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      @MattbyNature Apparently most Oncidium prefer to be mounted, they prefer to have their roots free. If not possible to have them mounted they should at least be placed losely in an open pot. The thing is, this way more watering needed although should not be soggy. I also thought most Oncidium types needed very warm temperatures but turns out in nature they live along rivers and near cascades, at higher altitudes, enjoying the "icy cold" humidity coming from the water falls. Not much humidity around the roots but environmental humidity. This is what I heard from two reputed brazilian orchid growers. But they mentioned exceptions although not saying which ones, probably because there are so many hybrids and it is the growers job to find out 😵‍💫 ??? Miltoniopsis are the coolest because they come from the Andes. Sometimes I feel success with orchids needs a lot of luck 💝💝💝

    Ohh I almost bought a Desert Rose yesterday. There were some in flower at the nursery. It was so unusual. I’ll probably get it at my next visit, and I suspect it needs to be inside over winter.

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      Hi Sharon, thank you 💖 Desert rose is a cute exotic plant, I especially like the caudex which keeps fattening year after year. And also, every 2 years or so, we can lift the plant and get a taller caudex. Not to mention the flowers which are lovely and varied. Hope you had a wonderful sparkling day and that you are fully recovered 🥰🥰

    Cold winter 🤣 I have the same Dendrobium cross and also had it for 5 years. It had a rest in the shade, I just started feeding it and put it in a sunny spot so lets hope it will flower this year. My Anselia made a new growth which matured during the winter and I hope it will spike when it gets outside this summer (I have the large variety) I also found out that they don't like wet feet, had to remove a lot of roots doing the repot

    • @FernandaNascimentoOrchids

      Well, then it is about time we get blooms from our Dendrobium. Mine is a lazy plant because apparently it does absolutely nothing during 10 months of the year. Basically every year it wakes up in july, it grows two new growths in a rush for two months and goes back to sleep 🤣 Fingers crossed we get blooms soon!!!!
