How so? If he wasn't infected, then he could have easily been saved. If he was infected, then he could have easily been finished off while he was in the process of transforming.
@@georgeofhamilton you really think it's so simple? In combat many things can go wrong at a moment's notice. What if they lapsed in paying attention as he turned? What if they were fighting off a horde? What if they fell asleep? What if they were helping him limp along, holding him as he turned? There are infinite possibilities where a couple seconds with your guard down could lead to your downfall.

Eventually people burn out and need rest. Even when at 100 percent what if there is an explosion nearby that grabs your attention? That split second is all it takes. I've heard many stories of men dying because of split second distractions. Are you willing to risk your life and others for a lost cause?

The wisdom that you're trying to impart isn't particularly exclusive to being a Marine, though. In this specific case, hardly any split-second event would have been made more dangerous if they were rescuing Murphy. Murphy wasn't a lost cause. He might not have been infected, and his injury was otherwise unlikely to be fatal. If he was infected, his transformation wouldn't have happened in a split-second and would have been attention-grabbing. His transformation would also not have required 100% operational capacity any more than being sent to turn on the subway power alone would have. If your friend got shot by a sniper, would you execute him instead of trying to save him?
Damn, I was hoping maybe Murphy would get some more screentime... On the plus side, the remake did an impressive job with Nicholai! I especially like his VA's performance! Edit: Holy S**T, Murphy's voiced by Todd Haberkorn!?!?!?
Same. Too bad he didn't live long. They should have let Carlos kill him like in the original when Murphy begged him for it because he didn't want to end up being a mindless zombie.

I loved what Capcom did to Nicholai in the remake. He went from generic villain in the original to a ruthless bastard in the remake! As much shit as everything gives the remake, I personally enjoyed it for what it was, and a huge part of that was due to the characters!
