In San Francisco, Jill Valentine is dealing with a zombie outbreak and a new t-virus, Leon Kennedy is on the trail of a kidnapped DARPA scientist and Claire Redfield is investigating a monstrous fish that is killing whales in the bay. Joined by Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers, they discover the trail of clues from their separate cases all converge on the same location, Alcatraz Island, where a new evil has taken residence and awaits their arrival.
The sheer sadness in Leon's voice when his bike was totaled. He really did love that bike.

"Old" people like me who discovered the first resident evil in the late 90s remember that the characters we played were fragile.
I finished several times the first 3 games on ps1, but how many times did I get killed?
Chris, Jill, Claire and Leon have never been john wick/neo/legolas and other invincible characters who kill hundreds of enemies in a row.
What scared us in resident evil was our weakness.

Yes, but today's audience/players don't want the frustrations of reality. They want excitement, fantasy, victory. Getting your ass handed to you 50x on one boss or area, or having film characters be out for the count after a few punches would make for a complaining fan base.

I played RE2 and 3 remakes and you still had the fear for them. The films are different of course, but hey I enjoy them still. I thought the first Live action film with Mila actually fit the bill of what you are talking about. The rest after did not.

Watch some serious zombie films like Romero's "Day of the dead", the first resident evil by Paul Anderson (only the first), Zack Snyder's Dawn of the dead, the first seasons of walking dead and many others serious action/horror films...
All these productions were successes even though the public was already accustomed to surrealist films (Transformers were financial successes at the time)...
I didn't like the "pure action" orientation of the Resident Evil games.

I love the fact they had Jill mentioned what happened to her to Resident Evil 5 because I always what happpend to JIll after that game. It would nice to have JIll in a game again because for some reason she gets overlooked. No more Leon or Chris for awhile they are way overused characters.
Yet, you think of Resident Evil the first 2 characters you think of are Leon and Chris. Hopefully in RE9 it involves Jill, hopefully it brings back Jake and Sherry as well. I'd love to see what happened with Jake after RE6 and or if Wesker ever makes a return. We've had what, 3 games since he died in 5 and I kinda miss the psychopath that started everything off

Leon, in some parallel universe in which the worlds collide, might actually be a cousin. As little as I know of RE, it could be Dante teasing him about taking on small fry but counting on him to keep the people from the government who would be very interested in his genetics off his back.

This timeline is at 2015, while Infinite Darkness is at 2006. I guess Claire may have forgiven or let things go with Leon. But i see that Claire only do limited conversations with Leon it means that she may have a little bit of anger from Leon actions at Infinite Darkness

CapCom have used the same Claire and Leon character models from Infinite Darkness, set in 2006, for Death Island, set in 2015. Oh, and Jill's RE3R from 1998. Love these characters to death, but I wish there was a little more consistency appearance-wise 😅And I would love for Claire and Leon to actually interact more...

I’m this movie Claire is the glue that brings everyone tougher. She was intrigued by what she saw in the Orca and contacted Rebecca Chris and Jill but deliberately left out Leon when he could easily know something about what was going on with the zombies in San Francisco. Yet Claire refuse to contact him.
At some point Rebecca and Hunigan got in touch because that is how intertwined their investigation was.
Yet the lack of will and effort on behalf of Claire to contact Leon really says between lines that she don’t like/trust him.
