This video was super helpful for me. I bought a 2-5 and 6-9 of these after watching this. Mainly because of how you said you were able to make the glass much a cleaner with this. I used these on a shoot a few days ago, with an FX30 on a gimbal, shooting a vineyard event on a very bright day, using these new NDs indoors and outdoors - and I gotta say - they performed great! The colors look really really good. There is a slight green shift I notice, but its really subtle and doesn’t seem to increase at the higher stops of ND. The one thing that surprised me though, is how hard this is to use on a gimbal. You can’t just grab the nd and twist it, cuz that will change the polarization, you have to put the gimbal down, grab the filter with 2 hands, and then you can shift the ND. Same with taking the Helix filter on or off, you kind need two hands on your lens to do it. At least when you’re using a gimbal. But it’s not a huge problem, and I am very very happy with these NDs. I am happy to be a little inconvenienced so that I get a better image like this. There was a big building with a shiny roof I needed images of, and the CPL took the glare right off of it. Then there was a bright sky and rolling hills I needed to capture, and the CPL main the sky not blown out. Super cool! Excited to experiment with these more! Great work you guys!!
Can't wait to get a Helix Chroma! The VND ball lock looks great. My current setup is 77-82 step-up -> polariser -> VND. Every time I twist it, it could be coming off, darkening, or polarising and has been frustrating...
Since we can turn the polarizer on and off, and the polarizer provides an ND effect of around 1-1.5 stops, can we say that this filter actually works like a 2-6 stop filter?
All those VND filters from PolarPro look great but 5 stops only are a bit short when it comes to shooting video under bright sun light conditions. If you could technically boost up to 7-9 stops, that'd be the best filters on earth!
You know how I know your products are epic… My buddy Zack never wanted to use any mist filters and he just bought the everyday filter and pre-ordered two of the black mist filters from you guys because he absolutely loves the soft highlights… So clearly I ordered the gold one 🤌🏽 because I was the one who convinced him to try it 😂
Is there a possibility that one day you guys start doing 72mm filter threads ? I know there is a workaround with step up rings but some filters like UVs or the new everyday, its not practical to use step ups especially when we want to reduce the footprint of the gear we bring. I hope one day there will be the option of a 72mm, as now there are 49mm and 95mm. but once again brilliant products from polarpro. Cheers
Everyday will have 72's soon! Thanks for the feedback, we are with you on the UV and Everydays being available in native sizes as they are almost always on the lens
Hello, Jeff!! I need urgent help with an incorrect purchase of a threaded filter instead of a Chroma filter for my Hellix system. This error was due to incorrect image programming on your website. I have sent an email and a DM on instagram, mentioning the urgency of the change or resolution of my request. I am planning a trip to the Olympics, and the time for returning the purchased filter is running out. To anticipate any urgency, I purchased my filter on the same day as the Chroma filter's launch on TH-cam. I look forward to your prompt response and solution! Thanks a lot #PolarProSupport #UrgentHelp
Do the threaded filters come with a rubber lens cap that I can use when the filter is on my lens? As much as I love the shortstache everyday filter that was the only thing I really wish it had.
Been trying to find an answer online but couldn’t. But does a polarizer help with reducing light glare like a matte box does? Want to make my rig more compact and maybe remove the matte box for this filter.
@@PolarProFiltersI look forward to it. Hard to preorder something without being able to see more about it, and don’t know if I’d go that way over the other chromas.
Love your product and have been a customer many times. Question: any chance you can make the 72mm version filters? I've a 72mm lens but the Shortstache doesn't come with such a diameter
You buy one 77mm Helix baseplate and one 67mm baseplate ($20/each) and then the Helix Filter fits on both of them. th-cam.com/video/zYfWVAuAIjM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
I already had the pmvnd. Just got my hands on the Shortstache x PP CPL and Black Mist. AND NOW THERES A FILTER THAT FUSES THEM TOGETHER. Just take all my money already 😅
@PolarProFilters I actually just found out about step up Rings today, so I will be buying for my 82mm lens and using a step up ring for my 52mm. Thank you!!
This comment section is clearly well monitored and kept clean from all the people pointing out that you simply slapped Peter's name on somebody else's product and sell it as your own pseudo-innovative idea. You may be able to damage control here, but you can't keep the well deserved backlash from coming.

Yew! Thanks for the feedback Tommy and glad you are enjoying them overall
I'm really stoked for these. I have been sitting on meh filters for too long, bought the 2-5 and the 6-9 maglock yesterday. Posted for these.
Nice you will love em!
Received my PL-VND Black mist today. Cannot wait to give it a test!
1/8 would be great for gold and mist. Looking for reviews before buying but 3 filter in one is pretty amazing. Congrats for your work and new release
Order 2-5 Black mist edition. Excited to try it out!
Yew! You will love it
Is the 49mm "bezels" compatible with Sony 40mm 2.5?
Excited about this but trying to figure out what mist to get. Is there any where to see more samples of the gold mist?
The product page has what we have shot as far as the mist comparisons. The Black Mist is the most subtle
Can't wait to get a Helix Chroma! The VND ball lock looks great. My current setup is 77-82 step-up -> polariser -> VND. Every time I twist it, it could be coming off, darkening, or polarising and has been frustrating...
Yep the Haptic feedback makes the polarizer adjustment a bit easier
Will there be a "mist only" option so we can add it and take it away when desired instead of being baked in to one filter?
Since we can turn the polarizer on and off, and the polarizer provides an ND effect of around 1-1.5 stops, can we say that this filter actually works like a 2-6 stop filter?
The polarizers ND effect is dependent of the amount of reflected light it’s reducing, and yes could push the overall ND power to 6
Please make this in 58mm and 62mm. I have a bunch of the Sigma I-Series f2 primes
Feedback received! The best option for the foreseeable future would be a 67mm filter with step up rings
This is so rad! Can I test these out at your Costa Mesa address or is that closed to the public?
Our Costa Mesa spot is just our office and warehouse, we dont really have anything set up to facilitate guests
Is the filter including a ring for attaching the filter on the lens? Because it is magnetic right?
The Helix Filters all require a helix base plate. The Threaded filters thread right onto your lens. Both versions are available.
All those VND filters from PolarPro look great but 5 stops only are a bit short when it comes to shooting video under bright sun light conditions. If you could technically boost up to 7-9 stops, that'd be the best filters on earth!
There are 6-9 Versions as well for bright days and shooting LOG
A 1-9 stops would be ideal but I guess it would necessarily involve a color cast, wouldn’t it?
Yah you are correct, with that range you get huge cross polarization and color shift
2 random questions.
1. What cabinets are those behind you?
2. Also are you all using a filter for this video? If so which one?
Thanks
They are Husky Cabinets and no filter on the main camera shooting this video

Love it
I wish there was a 1/8 version of the threaded mist type 🫠
The 1/4th Black Mist is pretty subtle, if you go less on black mist is almost noticeable

Will they be on B&H soon?
Not anytime soon, we dont have much stock left
I wish there were hard stops for min-max on polarizer.
Hear that, written on the engineering board
@@PolarProFilters other than that awesome filter. I just got 2-5 Chroma the other day and really like it. Thinking to get 6-9 as well.
Nice, glad it’s working out!
Hiya
Does the helix mag lock system also fit the 95mm Sony 200-600 lens?
It will very soon

Shoot support@polarpro.com and email if you have not already and they will help you out
Would be perfect if the CPL+VND+MIST had 1/8 for the MIST. Just entered to my wish list, sad not available in Brazil. Kind regards
Have you tried our 1/4th mist strength? It is pretty subtle
Do the threaded filters come with a rubber lens cap that I can use when the filter is on my lens? As much as I love the shortstache everyday filter that was the only thing I really wish it had.
Yes
Can you turn the ND off entirely to use the polarizer by itself or is there always going to be at least 2 stops on?
There will always be a minimum ND level of 2 stops
mine just arrived! can't wait to test them out.. The writing on mine is black but its not the mist version, is this a mistake in the video?
Did you get Helix or Threaded?
@@PolarProFilters Helix
Nice one 💪 Magnetic feature is only available with Helix Maglock and not with an 67mm filter size for example?
Yes, correct
Been trying to find an answer online but couldn’t. But does a polarizer help with reducing light glare like a matte box does? Want to make my rig more compact and maybe remove the matte box for this filter.
A matte Box blocks stray light and reduces ghosting/flaring. A polarizer reduces reflections in your scene. They are two different properties of light
Would have been cool if you guys had me that Chroma VND/PL available in the Helix Maglock Kit.
Its the same price as buying the Helix VND/PL and 2 Base Plates separately. So you can create your own kit for the same price.
@@PolarProFilters I think I was just confused on what was missing. I tried to match them up and. Just didn’t understand what I’d need
Here is a video of how to set up a MagLock system for your lenses
th-cam.com/video/zYfWVAuAIjM/w-d-xo.html
Does this work for getting rid of glare on glasses?
It has a polarizer built in that will reduce reflections
These are incredible. Looking forward to purchasing a Helix set.

Are there any plans for close-up diopter filters for Anamorphic users?
Nothing live right now. Keep an eye on our YT, IG or email list for all new product launches. We have a lot cooking
Ok but…. Where is more content about the gold mist
I’m sure you will start seeing more over our socials and our Gold Teams content as we start shipping more
@@PolarProFiltersI look forward to it. Hard to preorder something without being able to see more about it, and don’t know if I’d go that way over the other chromas.
If you have a 1/8 Black mist version = perfection!
We are monitoring, but our 1/4 is pretty subtle
Love your product and have been a customer many times. Question: any chance you can make the 72mm version filters? I've a 72mm lens but the Shortstache doesn't come with such a diameter
We do when we get enough requests for them. A little to early to tell on the VND/PL's but the Shortstache Everyday is coming in a 72mm
I would also like a 72mm version of the ND/PL as some Fuji glass has 72mm. Especially useful for the 18-120 PZ lens.
you can stack 1/8 hellix mist on 2-5 chroma?
Yes you can, but you start to introduce vignetting when you stack 2 Filters
So if I have a 77mm and a 67 mm with the Maglock do in have to buy two separate filters or do I just buy the bigger one ?
You buy one 77mm Helix baseplate and one 67mm baseplate ($20/each) and then the Helix Filter fits on both of them.
th-cam.com/video/zYfWVAuAIjM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Does this mean if we have a helix maglock VND 2-5 already could we just buy a polarizer to stack on top? (To avoid buying a new full filter)
No you cant stack a Polarizer on top of a VND, which is why we had to combine the Polarizer into the VND
If I shoot from noon to sunset which ND is better. 2-5 or 6-9?
For s-log 3 800 iso and 12800 if needed.
I mostly shoot between 2.8-6 f stop
It could be either depending on ambient lighting and which aperture you are shooting at
what do you recommend for my Sony A7SIII I use it for video mostly and sometime photos please and thank you.
The 2-5/pl or the 2/5/pl black mist are the most popular
I'm looking for my first VND for my XH2s. Given the high base ISO on the XH2s is the 2-5 enough for most use cases?
If you are shooting below 2.8 aperture you probably will need the 6-9 for most outdoor shooting
Super useful video to decide which one to buy❤ Going to buy first polar pro filter - chroma vnd/pl 2-5 black mist 🙌
You will love it, that one is always on my camera
can you do this with the iphone 15 pro (I want to see some footage with the iphoen stuff)
We ship to NZ from the site, or you can check if any of the NZ or AU stores have em: www.polarpro.com/support/store-locator/
Good info, Exited to get my hands on that helix 2-5 chroma 🤙🏽
You are going to enjoy that filter!
I literally just had my Everyday 95mm shipped today…and you do THIS to me?!?! 😩
wonder when will I ever own this gear it looks really great
I already had the pmvnd. Just got my hands on the Shortstache x PP CPL and Black Mist. AND NOW THERES A FILTER THAT FUSES THEM TOGETHER. Just take all my money already 😅
Thats a prime filter collection right there
Take my money now!
what does the course thread mean?
Here is a video on it: th-cam.com/video/GRGUR8ML6CU/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
When does the x100vi adapter ship?
Scheduled for May 20th on the Black color and May 28th on the others
Will you make a 52mm?
Its not on the roadmap currently. Best would be to use step up rings to the 67mm.
@PolarProFilters I actually just found out about step up Rings today, so I will be buying for my 82mm lens and using a step up ring for my 52mm. Thank you!!
I was skeptical but still decided to cop myself one🤙🏽
They are pretty clean, you will love it
Ordered the 2-5 black mist version 🙌🏻
Yew! My favorite one
Can we use step up rings for this?
Yes for the threaded filters
You mean this specific filter right? I have 2 lenses a 77 and 82, so is it safe to buy the 82 filter size and use a 77-82 step up ring right?
Yes you are correct
i just sold my kidney and bought this. Worth it.
Wait a min? VND with mist and PL?! 🤩
Yew!
@@PolarProFilters dang! I already have both the 2-5 and 6-9 PMVND+Mist. I wish theres a trade in opt 🥲
Good review Jeff and more great products from PolarPro.
Thanks Lyn!
my 50mm 1.2 gm need some 72mm filter :X

Just got the helix kit and the ss filter, gonna have to get this…yall hurtin my wallet😂

I want in Amazon italy
It might be awhile before our resellers get them listed over there
