*I lost 120 pounds in 2018 on a Carnivore Diet, I maintained that in 2019. In 2020 I struggled with some weight gain and then lost it again in 2021. For the last few years I have been maintaining a healthy weight. In December 2022 I had skin removal surgery (tummy tuck). This channel just documents all of that journey and how our family lives normal lives and eats a meat based diet.

That's great🎉 how is your Spanish? 😂
haha Nathaniel's is probably better than mine!
If you like going to the beach, I definitely recommend visiting the south of Portugal during the summer. Portugal is also heavy on meat and fish consumption so you will not have a problem when it comes to staying carnivore.
I'm an American living in Madrid, married to a Spanish woman. You will have ZERO issues following carnivore, beef in spain is outstanding. Mercado de Chamartin is a GREAT place, high quality butchers. Go to El Cordobes and tell him "Migue" sent you. Spain is beautiful. Airfryers are now becoming popular in Spain. Visit Grenada, Sierra Nevada, all of northern spain. Good luck.
You'll survive and be better for having this awesome opportunity and the experience of a lifetime for your
Family ♡
personally I live in senior apartments and have no outdoor accessibility for cooking so I light my favorite Yankee Candle (Midsummer's Night)
and hope for the best 😅
I felt a wee bit offended when you said Chris doesn't work because as A stay-at-home Mom I worked my arse off .
I think it would be nice IF maybe your husband took the reigns on the grocery hauls and maybe talked about how intermittent fasting has helped him because Y'all are A great Team 👍 🕯
Oh and the Instant Pot Omni Pro is a larger version of Air Fryer rotisserie Convection Oven that may be helpful abroad 😉
praying good vibes & peaceful pursuits 😊
That's what's so great about homeschooling. It's so flexible and the kids will have a great experience! I homeschooled my three boys from K-12. Best thing ever, not a single regret and as a bonus, we're all really close as a family.
I would advise to let the kids experience as much as possible in lieu of 'school work'. We took two adolescent kids to Mexico, Guatemala and Belize for 2 months and the only thing they were required to do was to journal. It changed their lives. One after becoming a Montessori teacher wrote a children's book about this trip and the other became a GPS geographer who worked for our government to help Columbia eradicated marijuana fields. Be open to the experiences you all will be given and say yes to what moves your heart. We didn't know when we started out that we would climb an 11,000 ft active volcano in Guatemala! But we met some Americans who told us of their experience and guided us with solid information we could follow through on. It was a total gift!
Agreed. Homeschooling (or better, unschooling) is a gift to both parents and kids. Follow the interests of the kids to an extreme, and you will all learn wonderful stuff!
So cool…
I think homeschooling can be good when kids are really young, but as they enter Jr High and High School age, they are going to miss out on crucial social skills with other children and unless you have a degree in teaching, you won’t know what you are teaching your kids. That’s why teachers have training. I knew a homeschooled family and they were terrified to leave the house. Way too isolating.
Cast iron pan for steaks! Good luck!
Please do share your trip experience and let us live vicariously through your channel. Seeing your carnivore journey will be enlightening as well. Thank you Laura!
Laura, you and your hubby are so so smart to homeschool your children. I homeschooled mine and i've never had any regrets in any way. My children are adults now, and i'm so very proud of all five of them - they've never been involved in drugs, alchohol, etc and have grown into very fine young adults with good jobs. It was a lot of work and we sacrificed a lot financially so that I could be a full time Mom/homemaker/homeschool teacher.
Spain has some of the best beef and music in the world!
Ah. The flamenco guitar.
We have moved to Portugal and love it! For us it is a permanent move. Spanish from Spain is very different from Spanish from any other country.
Chris will have TONS to do with the kids!!
Portugal you need to see! We are right next door.
Carnivore is totally doable. The Spanish eat very late at night- later even than here in Portugal.
Costco is in Spain!!!
I think in Madrid. Check that out.
Costco! 😂😂😂
There’s a Costco in Sevilla too.
Doesn't Portugal eat up your taxes ? I heard it was like 42 percent of your income .
So much love to Portugal! ❤my parents were both born in the Azores and I can’t wait to visit.
you really have to!!@@KathytheMama777 I am portuguese living in the continente... but I have went to Azores and Madeira... amaizing!!! I live in Algarve! Come here to!! Nice beatchss!!
Don’t overthink it, you can buy an inexpensive grill over there I’m sure. Maybe the apartment building has a grill in their garden courtyard, a lot do in Europe. Also, meat is easily available in the Supermarkets too.
Buy a rolling cart to do grocery shopping with to get around the city more easily if you don’t have a rental car, we did that in Greece where we walked everywhere daily.
Pack light, or it will ruin your travels. You can wash clothes more frequently, plus, you all may buy a couple outfits each while there.
Everyone carry a backpack 🎒 for their airplane ✈️ journey with what they need, a sweatshirt or sweater, a hat, book to read, Kleenex, etc.
One person carries ALL electronics, passports, I.D.s. This prevents any loss along the way. One person carries most of the money, liquids & snacks for TSA.
Definitely sounds like you know what to do! If I ever get a chance to travel outside of the US, I'd like to pick your brain.
Telling someone not to overthink… not cool.
We homeschooled our three boys. Loved it. The flexibility was wonderful. We traveled a lot and the boys (now grown) are so well-rounded. You are going to love this!
Spanish beef is sensational. I truly believe you will be positively surprised. Welcome to Europe. We love you too here…❤
Ninja foodi grill is a great substitute for indoor grilling. It's a 4 in 1 so you can also bake, dehydrate, and air fry. I have one and it's great as a substitute.
I have one too. It’s great when I run out of propane for my gas grill or in the winter time when I want something grilled. It’s not the same taste as the gas grill but it’s the next best closest thing to it.
I was thinking the same thing!! I love my Ninja air fryer! ❤
When I travel by car I bring it into my hotel room. Way better than eating crappy, expensive restaurant food.
@@AndreAngelantoniAgree 👍, vehicle camping 🏕️ saves you money too.
Same!
I lived in Spain for over 8 years. You will have no problem keeping your carnivore lifestyle. Hopefully, you will have a balcony to bbq on. You can always go to a park and bbq on weekends. Great experience enjoy!
We were stationed in Germany for 3 years. My husband is retired Army. I would suggest thinking about each room individually and the things you use in each. For example, when we arrived to our housing, we didn't have a shower curtain and the towels were all packed up. Our next move, we each packed one towel in our bags and I packed a roll of tp, a shower curtain, and a hand towel. Just a suggestion. Goid luck on your new adventure and enjoy yourselves!!
That's great advice! I was going to suggest not worrying about packing blow dryers etc, just get new while there. People tend to over pack. Avoid that if you can.
This is so exciting! My biggest tip would be to get an air fryer grill that absorbs the smoke -- this avoids setting smoke alarms off if you're staying in an apartment or hotel. I got the Ninja Foodi grill once I got to Europe. It was a lifesaver! Goes up to 500 degrees or so and has multiple settings (bake, air fry, and grill were the ones I used). It has a feature that absorbs the fumes/grill smoke. It's not perfect, but it does the trick for long stays. I hope this helps! No matter what, I can't wait to see what y'all learn and thank you for sharing with us!
Allegedly the pork in Spain is fantastic. I didn’t know you homeschool your kids. For the last 5 years my husband was a stay at home dad and we homeschool our two boys. Recently we switched and he now works and I get to stay home with my babies! I’m super excited for you! It sounds like the perfect amount of time to try out living somewhere else in the world.
My daughter home schooled her two sons - well, she more or less unschooled. Except a few major subjects, math, science and German, she left the rest up to them. Both were always busy with projects and reading. Now they are in universities and are doing super.
The pork from Spain is mostly imported from here in Portugal! It is raised in Alentejo and is black pork. The pigs are allowed to free range and forage under the acorn trees for 18-24 months.
Also been using LMNT for fasting/prayer days. Such a help.
Thanks for all the support you give all of us. I’m 6 weeks into carnivore and loving it.
What an awesome opportunity for all of you! So easy to travel around Europe, flights as cheap as $39. Don't overpack. Can't wait to watch your adventure!
Agree, they can wash clothes more frequently over there & but some new outfits while there too.
Yes you can stay Carnivore.....in Spain! There are trains all over the country& to other countries, very easy to travel. Barcelona was the best, but Madrid was fun, the main park is beautiful, Valencia was on the coast, like Barcelona, further south, more beachy....lots of fun! All kinds of seafood, beef, lamb, & so much more. The food is diverse & delicious! Have a wonderful time....don't sweat the small stuff! 💖 🌻
One more suggestion, you may want to stay away from 'ceviche'....marinated raw seafood & stuff....if your not used to eating it...may not be good option...wasn't for us....major gastral. Do have Tapas (awesome Spain appetizer/meal)...some can be carnivore'ish.....delicious! Don't worry about language, lots speak English, get translator app on phone, you'll do fine. Remember 'baño/baña' that's potty in Spanish......Loved Spain! 💖🌻
@@sunflower-17baño
(Not baña;)
@@anastrawberry8047 my apology.....thought it was gender based....o for male, a for female....is it not??? my Spanish is weak lately, haven't used it enough! Gracias! 💖🌻
@@sunflower-17 , hey, don’t worry, we are all learning. The “gender based” you’re talking about is for adjectives, for example:
Silla Bonita
Coche Bonito
BonitA, BonitO, the adjetive takes the gender of the noun that goes with. If the noun is masculine (coche), the adjective will be masculine (bonito). If the noun is feminine (silla), so will be the adjective.
BAÑO is not an adjective, it is a noun, and it has masculine gender ( independent of the person who uses it). It’s Baño, or Cuarto de baño, or Aseos (in public places)
Hope it helps 👍😉
I agree with you...we took our kids to Madrid and Barcelona last year and fell in love with Barcelona!
WOW! That is A LOT to get ready for in a very short amount of time. You will hate the rush part of it and laugh at the chaos down the road but at the end of it you will be so glad you took this family adventure! That said PACK LIGHT. Yes, take your clothes but when you are gone that long it will amaze you how much "stuff" you acquire while you are overseas & you will be gone long enough that the necessities you think you need can be bought there. Also, things like air fryers you buy there can be used and donated to locals when you came back home.
Madrid is a great place to stay. Especially as you get closer to summer there will be a lot of cheap seasonal flights to everywhere in Europe.
6-1 indoor Ninja Grill is what we use several times a week. Instant pot for roast is also so easy. The 6 in 1:
1.Air Crisp
2.Roast
3.Grill
4.Bake
5.Broil
6.Dehydrate
I have used the Ninja grill all winter and love it!!!
Came here to say this! I use mine every day. Buy a few extra screens and clean those in a gallon zip lock with oven cleaner. It is the best!
@@HairArtisans-nb3sm That is a great tip!
@@HairArtisans-nb3sm great idea! Where did you get your extra screens from?
You mentioned fasting and praying - it would be a great experience to try to block a week off at maybe the end of your stay and do the last few kms of El Camino de Santiago. I did the whole route from France to to the Atlantic Ocean (555km). It's a very well known spiritual hike that ppl fly in to Spain to do from all over the world and the experience is once in a lifetime : )
Omg I'm so excited for you guys! Please more vlogs about your experiences in Madrid and Europe! I would love to see it all!
We have kept our keto/carnivore lifestyles since moving into a RV. It can be done but it does look different. Change is good. What a wonderful opportunity you and your family. Great for the channel too. Would love to see how your lifestyle changes and new ways you adapt. ❤❤
You. Lucky. Dawg. Relax...go with the flow. Try not to stress. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
Exactly! Enjoy every moment, and you will figure it out as a family as you go along.
I live in Belgium and we will soon travel to Spain by car. You are going to be there at the best time of the year. Great weather, orange trees are in bloom. Hope you visit the coast, we are going to stay in Torrevieja. Lots of meat in Spain 🙏🏼 Enjoy your stay in Spain! Eviva España 🇪🇸
Fantastic experience!
And remember you will have Costco in Madrid and Seville
Didn't even know Costco has stores outside the US. Do they also have the cheap pizza and hotdog stands?
@@daniellee1722 I know there are Costco’s in Korea. They must be in many countries.
@@daniellee1722 costco is worldwide. Even in Iceland, you can find a costco. :)
@@susansmith493 Iceland! Now that's interesting. I'm going to have to sneak that into a conversation to sound worldly lolll
@@daniellee1722 Why do anericans on social media think everyone on social media is living in the US?
Not sure how far you want to travel. lol. But Warsaw, Poland is amazing! The history from WW2 is phenomenal, as well as Old Town that was rebuilt exactly how it was before being destroyed in the war. We spent 4 months there with 4 children, ages 6-13. Amazing adventure!
Chopin museum too! 😊
Praying for you and your crew! Hope it is an amazing experience for you all!
What an amazing experience for you all! Homeschooling is such a blessing! Gotta admit I'm a little jealous! Enjoy!
I'm from Spain and you are gonna eat really good meat, especially pork, Iberic ham is amazing!! I recommend you to travel around Spain, Málaga, Valencia, Galicia. It's a time where many festivals are coming
Steak in my air fryer is SO GOOD! I use it a lot.
No worries. You and Chris will be fine! This will open you up to new ways of cooking
please tell me how you accomplish this. I tried air fryer steak and it didn't turn out great. should I even expect any type of crust? I didn't get that at all despite looking up several videos/recipes that all turn out so different than mine
I do my steaks from a frozen state. Preheat to 400 cook each side 7-8 minutes per side for rare. Love my air fried steak. Tri tip untrimmed roast. Preheat to 400, cook about 20 min, let it rest INSIDE for 20 min. This is rare.
@@annnelson2044 okay I'm def a medium rare to medium kinda gal lol maybe I just need to reverse sear. just Everytime we've done that in the pan the smoke alarm goes off... we have an infant and toddler so that's a no-go lol
I'm so excited for y'all, this is amazing! I'm also super jealous lol this is such a phenomenal opportunity for your family!
I live in an apartment and I use a roaster oven to cook pork shoulder roasts, a cast iron skillet for burgers, and a deep fryer for chicken thighs & leg quarters (deep fried in lard unbreaded of coarse). Oh, and I also have a crockpot to warm up the roasts after they had been initially roasted. I hope this helps.
We took “the leap off the cliff” 35+ years ago. Embrace the chaos that comes with it - BUT more importantly the adventures you will all share and the friends and memories you will make. Bon Voyage Spath Family!
Trust me we would all love a Spain vlog video! You do you and just allow us to tag along! So excited for you! Don't forget to put the Spanish Basque area on your agenda. Fascinating culture within a culture! Much love and emotional support for you and your family! Congrats❣️ Have a wonderful time! 👍😁🥰
What a GREAT opportunity for your ENTIRE Family! Don’t forget us; we love you guys!
I think you will be surprised at how easy it is to stay carnivore in Spain. In terms of affordability there is Aldi and Lidl and I prefer Lidl steaks over many others as they always have fatty ribeye whereas Aldi trim too much and don’t have the fat nugget, plus Lidl has 10oz Grass Fed steaks as well as regular (but I seem to recall you are not that keen on grass fed maybe) You should find that most eggs are free range/pasture raised and there will probably be local butter as well as the cheap commercial butter. Lidl have great cheese selection and some relatively clean sausage/wieners for the kids. At least that’s what I have here in Cornwall, England - come on over and I’ll show you around 😊
Travel within Europe- Laura you may know Ryanair from your visits or colleagues and they had a bad rep for charging for baggage, it’s true they do but…… if you read their sizes very carefully for carry on and do not go over those sizes at all you will be ok, they are very cheap and easy and fly all over Europe. My advice for travelling cheap for the weekend is everyone have their one allowed correct size carry on and then pay for one suitcase (22kgs approx 48lbs) for all your liquids and shoes, towels or extra clothes etc. which will go in the hold. You can also stuff jacket pockets and wear a purse under your shirt but I am a real cheapskate and love getting away with whatever I can on Ryanair 😂
Egypt is wonderful but be very cautious about travel and visits there, I would suggest you read up on Tripadvisor etc as you may or may not know there are many scams involving guiding your around and then demanding money. I’m not trying to scare you as it’s only a few bad apples but it is something to read up on first. Also last tourist tip which I am sure you may know from your visits already, there are highly skilled pickpockets in all major European cities so avoid walking with backpacks on your back, you can wear them on your front or a front cross body bag. For all of my warnings I have fared pretty well travelling all over but I have seen and had friends that have had days or trips ruined because of one nasty experience. My favourite cities are Paris, Vienna, Stockholm, London of course, but you should also try Lisbon, Berlin and Copenhagen. Chris and the kids can do the research all week as their homeschool and you benefit by just heading out. I’ll stop waffling on now but I could talk about travel for days.
Steaks, chops etc are just as good on the stove top . portable grills work as well.
How exciting to have an opportunity with your family...praying for you all in all the things!!
Took our 4 HS’d kiddos to Hungary to serve for 6 months and absorb our little Village. Of all the cool travels over the years, our now grown kiddos adored that Hungarian trip!
Laura just relax and you can buy anything you forget. Just going to different grocery stores will be exciting for the kids.
Where in Hungary? We were in Papa for 3 years, just north of Balaton
My job took me and my entire family (wife, 5yr old, 2yr old and 1yr old) to Japan for 3 months in 2022. It wasnt easy (we had babies 😫) but it was an amazing, life altering, core experience for our family. Our kids still talk about it. We have rooms in our house decorated Japanese. Happy for you guys! Its not common and it's such a cool part of your story.
So excited for you and your family!! This is amazing. We will be praying for you.
So excited for you! The kids are old enough to remember this adventure. I have been using the Joule sous vide wand on fresh and frozen meat and then doing a sear on the stove in a cast iron pan. This is more flexible than low cooking in the oven and then searing. I have tried a less expensive sous vide wand but it was less reliable. You will likely have a smaller fridge/freezer but meat from the butcher’s will be so much better. Good luck!
You go girl! And I bet there will be some access to a grill there. It could even be a hole in the ground with some kind of grate. You got this!
So happy & excited for you! May God bless your family. I will be praying for you.
What an amazing adventure! I’m so happy for y’all! Oh my gosh we are going to need more videos!
Spain is great for carnivores. I live about 60km north of Madrid in the mountains. All the cuts and names of meat are different. You can also get online delivery butchers. I use one called carnescampoverde. The solomillo de vaca vieja (beef tenderloin) is a nice tender cut to cook in an apartment where you don't want too much smoke. A 2kg tenderloin is around EUR50. There are also a couple of Costcos in Getafe and Las Rozas on the outskirts of Madrid. Good for seafood, fish, lamb, beef. I think in central Madrid there may be a few casquerias left, which are specialist butchers that just sell offal for liver, heart, sweetbreads etc. Obviously the jamon iberico (de cinco bellotas) is famous. You could take a trip south of Madrid to Jabugo to see how its made. And you could buy a whole one (about 7kg) and learn how to slice it at home. The most popular meat is pork, and the iberico (or duroc) breeds are very good. Have fun!!
Wow! I am definitely not a traveler, but this sounds like an all around amazing opportunity for you & the family. I can see you kids loving it. How does your mom feel about it? Wishing you all the absolute best in this adventure.😊
Awesome!!! Hard boiled eggs. Aged cheddar. Chomps beef sticks. Beef hotdogs. Whisper. Chaffels. Hamburger without bun. This is how I travel
George Foreman grill or something like that ! Good luck and have a blast making memories with your family.
Please do some filming there. Let us live vicariously through you! What a fun adventure. Don't worry about a thing.
You are smart and can handle anything that comes your way. You'll adapt as needed.
Wow! What an exciting opportunity for you and the family. And to be there during the warmer months is great timing.
I knew it was Madrid❤❤❤
I’m in Europe, so I recommend using weekends to explore Spain & extended weekends around holidays for exploring Europe (flights are very short & cheap). Nathaniel will love it there!
Wow!! That is awesome! I'm so excited for you! Enjoy the adventure!
Enjoy. It’ll be wonderful for your family.
Weekends will be fabulous ! Trains get you all through out europe
Don't be afraid to take us along. I would love it if you centered it around the entire experience not just carnavore related
I lived in Spain for 2 years while in the Navy over there. Keep it simple. Do not over pack. You can get anything there that you might need. Most every bar will be cooking up half chickens in garlic sauce. The best that you will ever eat. Just don't turn it over cause they do not clean out the guts and it looks gross...lol Hopefully your apartment will have a balcony to be outside grilling. You could get yourself a cheap charcoal grill to cook your meat. You are already aware that their plugs and electricity is different than ours. It is a very laid back life and we are not used to that. Adapt to it and enjoy it without feeling guilty. Also enjoy and work around all the Siesta time that will be happening every day there. So that you can enjoy The nightlife some with the kids, even though they're older they could lay down and take a rest during the day and then you can have a later night out with them depending on how your work schedule pans out. You all will love this opportunity for the travel and sightseeing. Carry large mineral water bottles with you everywhere you go in your back packs. And be extra careful to keep a tight hold on your bags so they are not snatched from your body. Perhaps get the kinds that include a waist strap and buckle to deter someone targeting you. They can drive by on a bicycle or motor bike and grab it and keep driving. Be very careful while driving over there and avoid any accidents or even hitting of stray dogs over there. And there are a lot of them. Not trying to scare you. Just to help you be watchful of all situations. Enjoy yourselves in the fullest each day cause your time will go much quicker than you think! 😃
What a great opportunity for you and your family! Please don’t over think this it will all work out for you. We are retired military and have lived overseas multiple times. With technology today it will be a breeze. Remember one thing your children will react the way their parents do. Please take a deep breath and enjoy the ride! I look forward to seeing your adventures! 🙏
What a wonderful experience for your kids! I hope you all have a great time... and that they're paying you a huge amount to do it :)
While in Spain, I HIGHLY recommend that you visit Seville and Merida. Merida has the most Roman ruins outside of Italy. Very educational. You guys will have memories for life. Congrats on this opportunity!
Congrats!! Wishing you and your family safe travels to and from..
Have fun and think about getting a cast-iron pan, it's what I use for a lot of my indoor cooking when I don't feel like using the air fryer or going outside and using the grill.
Exciting. I think for three months you will have fun figuring it all out. Family adventure. Take meds vitamins lmnt. Excited for you.
Do it, it's life changing ! I grew up in Switzerland as a kid when my dad was assigned - three months became 10 happy years. But yes, steak is expensive in Europe
Congrats that is awesome opportunity
I used to live in other countries get anything you need when there for the grill sure you can get something like you mentioned :)
Been looking at Portugal as another place one day
My vote as one place to visit is Madeira the Hawaii of the Atlantic so I would say try to check that out
Prayers for your family and the adventure and opportunity ahead :)
Go see France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, amazing places. Go have fun!! Good luck to you!!!
I injured my leg so I can’t easily go down the stairs to my backyard where my grill is.
So I bought a sous vide tool and a kitchen blow torch.
The meat is impossible to overcook with sous vide and the torch gives it a perfect crust.
That might work in Spain for y’all.
Good luck!
My hubby lived in Madrid and loved it. You will too. It is scary now but once you’re there it will get easier. You will want to extend after the 3 months, trust me. Travel, travel travel!!
Don't overthink it, pack light and enjoy yourselves. This is from someone who has traveled full-time for the last 2 years. Treat it as a minimalistic new life experience.
YOUR HUSBAND DOESN'T WORK, HE'S A STAY AT HOME DAD, AND HE GOES ON VACATION WITHOUT YOU? WTF 🤔
Every stay at home parent deserves a break, they work harder than all of us!
Stop!
What a stupid comment 🙄
What a shitty stupid thing to say.
I see no problem with that at all. I go on girls trips all the time. My husband doesn't mind at all.
Hubby hit the jackpot lol!! but in all seriousness, homeschooling and taking care of kids is BEYOND full time 👀
I am a homeschooling single mom and we spend every winter in Africa. My advice is pack light! You don’t need half as much as you think you do! And yes! I bought an air fryer and a pressure cooker for my home in Kenya. Have a fabulous experience!
Omggg that’s amazing!!!! ESP fir the kids they can experience a new culture when they’re young. I’m so so happy for you!!!
As someone moving soon I'm excited to see what you come up with only cooking indoors!
The best steaks I have ever had are cast-iron skillet on high until super hot. For medium rare, just before cooking, add lots of butter and sear on both sides for 3 minutes each side. Immediately put in the oven on 350 for 15 flipping at 7min. Good luck! Thanks for being my guru while starting Carnivor, you are my inspiration and your suggestions are gold. I am already down 18 lbs in 12 days!
You are doing a great thing for your family! I spent a vacation in Barcelona and I loved it! Glad you homeschool your kids in this bad time. Enjoy this opportunity - looking forward to videos from Spain.
I love this woman. I'm keto but all the priceless advice she gives .... Wow !!! Thanks so much.
I think it is very important to bring lots of water.. very much needed! Pillows, protein snacks, comfortable clothes!
At home, once I do not have a balcony or a back yard I use a cast iron frying pan with tallow...
Please! Come to Algarve!! The summer here is great!
So happy for you and your family! We homeschooled as well, and one of those kids is actually vacationing in Madrid now🙂. Have a wonderful time. We'll be sending up prayers for safety from NJ!
What a great opportunity! Be safe, don’t work too hard, have fun!
What a wonderful opportunity. Enjoy the adventure! Excited for you!
You are going to LOVE living there and will. It be ready to come home. There is SO much to do and see. I have lived there and a few other countries. Excited for you!!
Spain is AMAZING! Your family will love exploring the history in Madrid and beyond. What a blessing for you all. Make a point of going to Grindelwald Switzerland- super family friendly hikes, a mountain rollercoaster, and a fun village to explore. Enjoy 😊
Congratulations to you all, Laura! You’re going to have so much fun!
Laura, this is so exciting! Life is a journey, not a destination, so for 3 months I think your family is going to thrive with this opportunity to live in Madrid. Can’t wait to hear more!
We flew with our 4 kids over seas many times. Don't let them see you anxious! Only excited.
Buy an airfryer when you get there. Only 3 months....
I was hoping this was the news!!!! I remember you saying how you would like to do this! How exciting!!!
This is wonderful news! ❤️ you all just relax and enjoy the journey. I would say for the children to pack some sentimental things that reminds them of home😊
As someone who moved to the Alicante province of Spain more than seven years ago, i can tell you its sooo easy to be carnivore here. Almost everyone has a barbecue, George Foreman type grill (plancher) and/or airfryer. Plus, it is really appreciated if you try to speak Spanish, especially to get yourselves fed and watered. Good luck, enjoy❤
Treat it like the adventure it is! It's not permanent -- you can laugh at hardships and say, It's an adventure!! So so fabulous for your kids, to experience a different culture that way. I'm excited for you!
As for recipes..anything carnivore that's distinctly not american would be so very welcomed♥
Hi Laura, omg I'm so excited for you guys! The one time I missed watching your stories for a while and then you have these HUGE news 😅
As I've told you before I think I'm originally from Germany but also lived in Malaga, Spain for 3 months for my semester abroad during college. Therefore I kind of know what you're going through in your head when it comes to packing. But honestly the easiest thing was getting a fully furnished apartment with all basic supplies and appliances already there. And the little things you can buy there and then either sell on FB marketplace or pass down to neighbors, friends or other travelers.
Spain is definitely a good place to be carnivore I would say - you guys will be in paradise. Small butcher shops and local grocery stores are great, but you can also try bigger chains like Carrefour or Aldi for more "things" or gadgets you would like for the kids or the apartment. If your apartment has a small balcony, I would definitely look into getting a small grill too - maybe it has to be an electric one, not sure.
What an adventure - I wish I could travel with you in your pocket haha! I miss Europe 😍 Have the best time!
So happy & excited for you & your family. What a wonderful opportunity! I know you will have a blast! Would have loved to do something like this for children. ❤
That's so exciting! What a fantastic period of time that will be treasured by your family for the rest of your lives. Your kids are at an awesome age for this type of adventure. Congratulations! 🎉❤
This sounds like an exciting opportunity for you and your family, great to be able to expose your kids to different cultures and countries, that in itself is an education, but I’m sure Chris will fine plenty of creative ways to facilitate a home school curriculum. 👍👍❤️ get a big kitchen pack box, fill it up and pay the extra bag fee or ship it ahead of you. I imagine you will have a fully finished place but you may want some of your own pillow and blanks, put these type of extras in the box!
Best Advice, pack light! you can buy things used and then sell them before you leave. You will find everything you need. My family and I lived in England 4 years, and Singapore for 10. Biggest regret? We brought way too much stuff. The world is way smaller than you think. The first week or so will seem tricky, and in the end, this will be the best adventure of your life! I look forward to following along!!
I am so excited for you and your family. Wishing you safe travels and an exciting new adventure!
This is awesome! Such an amazing opportunity that the whole fam can enjoy and experience ! Whatever you want to blog about just do it! I’m here for the ride!
Traveling is a great education & a wonderful opportunity for all of you. Have fun, & visit lots of other countries! ❤🎉
Hi Laura, I am so very excited for you and your family to have this experience. It’s so valuable especially for your children. I’ve only been to Barcelona but it was absolutely wonderful. There is such an abundance of great food there including delicious meats, I doubt you’ll have any problems sticking with carnivore. Have a fantastic trip, be safe and please post as much as you can so we can live vicariously through you!❤
Hi Laura. Watch you often enough to see your family seems pretty great!! Kids are adorable and because of carnivore , seem chill , easy going, and adaptable. Talk to them when u r there and make it fun to pick a place, restaurant, event etc. You know them more than any social media fan. Hubby can find a grill or a place that can do it for him. Most importantly, relax, go with the flow, and I'm sure you will enjoy what I hope will be a wonderful experience for all. I'm slightly jealous, but happy you get to do this with family. All the best.
