  • Have you heard about the spooky stories of the Old Fever Hospital on Back Lane, Thornton in Bradford?
👻 We take you to the the piece of land where the Fever Hospital once stood.
The place is very weird, eerie, uncanny and mysteriously strange!
Extract used from the local Press (Telegraph and Argus 10/06/71) to show testimonies from various people who experienced strange occurrences on the site.
    𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀
I remember a story about someone who picked up a hitch hiker who wanted to be dropped off at the top of back lane. It turned out the hitch hiker had died in the old Ozzie fifty years ago. - Alan Fairclough
My grandma said that people came from all over with their kids who had TB for them to die. remembers a couple with a really young sickly little girl stopping and asking directions to the hospital, and she will never forget her face. - Sophie Gremlin
Do you believe in this story and have you ever experienced ghost sightings?
The horses used to get spooked riding past there. - Julie Greenwood Bedford
I used to go on a long walk on a Sunday and this place used to give me the heebie jeebies. When I was brave enough I would walk round the side and look in the old mortuary window! - Francine Harper

I love your videos. I've commented on them before as I was a school teacher and local historian and studied at the local mysteries and legends. I well remember the fever hospital ghost as my friend's family lived in a house just opposite in the sixties and seventies. Jack, the father, saw people trying to get into the graveyard at night, and complained when the story appeared on TV. He never saw anything, but agreed to seeing strange mists or fog which he put down to the weather.

I have just found this video. My friends and I used to ride past the hospital grounds regularly on the ponies from the local stables on Back Lane. It was in the late 60's but I can't remember the building still being extant. However, there were more trees then and the site did appear to be oddly misty and silent. My mother was a nurse there during the war but apart from mentioning the mice that used to scuttle about at night she said very little about it.

Funny how so many old hospital sites, particularly in America have a similarly nasty reputation.

Only a little bit like what happened during lockdown. In places like fever hospitals, those who were infected were isolated. Big difference from lockdown which went much further, so that healthy people were isolated. This was totally unwarranted and went against decades of health professional policy. As the WHO spokesman said, should never be done: “Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never, ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer,”. In that it has been and continues to be, very successful.
Anyway, the 'Old Ozzy' was one of our playgrounds back in the day, when it was derelict and only partly demolished. Lots of trees for chumping. I remember there was inside there, a big iron cupboard type thing that we took to be the remains of a safe, maybe an oven. Our spook up there was a headless lady who played the piano, who we neither saw nor heard but had a laugh about.
