I DJ'd college radio about 10 years ago and this sound is still my favorite thing about music. Kind of glad it never got too popular because it feels sacred to me.
best band ever.
+noneofyoucanspell agreed.
"No matter how many times I've heard it, it still sounds new"
So true! Every time I listen to Quasi
I've been into their exhilarating music for nearly 15 years.
I'm so glad that they still let us enjoy this great music!!
They are so happy playing together... If all bands had to reach this level of sincerity in order to play they'll all disband... And Quasi would be on top of the charts.
God I love these guys. Especially when they talk about being sloppy and how they aren't afraid to be. So much energy. I've been obsessed with them since I was in high school and I'm always finding new stuff by them or new live takes on old songs. I dig it. Hope they never stop.
I could watch that woman play drums all night Great band
They have so much fun playing together. so happy they still get along!
GOD! I love their sound!
They are crazy humble. Bravo
Just heard a couple of tunes from this band, and I think they're really good! "Our Happiness is Guaranteed" has the exact harmony of happiness! Congrats!
Came back to this exact place and read my 6 year old comment. Still agree with every single word. Long life to Quasi! 😎
case of no way out is timeless
Great. Love the vibe. Janet is so rockin...
♥ ♥♥♥♥ Love Quasi!!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
all time duo
quasi for life
In almost all live performances ive seen he always keeps the keys under his knee so he can move the board with the beat. Kind of cool
love the drums
Great music, great chemistry
just might be the ultimate Feel-Good music.
She's amazing.
I wish this had gone on just a few songs longer!
So freaking awesome
Amazing!
Saw them while visiting Portland - amazing energy - and soooo much fun!
so good so good
F ing love Quasi
this is so fakin awesome !!!!
@fragmentalstew, it's called a Rocksichord, essentially an electronically amped harpsichord.
I come back every few months to hear the drumming on Seal the Deal
awesome
hell yes.
sick... these 2 are pros..
Great to see Sam still at it. But it's hard to watch them, especially a song like Case of No Way Out, and not think of Elliott Smith (Quasi often toured with him, or were his backing band, or both). I do like his comment about not getting too good at playing. Most musicians who do become dreadfully boring... no joke. Overplaying to show off technical ability starts killing the songs.
When I saw ES in 2000 (Figure 8 tour) Sam was on bass.
I agree with everything you said, but...Janet is really, really good at playing drums.
Best shit I heard in some time
Every time I find a terrific new band, I also find a link to that band performing on KEXP.
Hi from southern England, heard I'll See You On Mars on 6Music last year, never heard of this group before EVER! Wow! what a group! superb stuff, are they still together? would love to see them live.
awesome -- best thing since the donner party and ed...
Thoughtful. Examinatory. Analytic.
rad
you didn't see that part around the 4min mark? i think that's pretty awesome! :-)
thanks to Megan Koester on Truthpoint for pointing me in the direction of this lot, they seem super cool!
The "electric organ thingy", not sure what he plays now, but he used to play this cool thing called a rocksichord, but it broke awhile back. I think current instrument emulates the sound of one
there were a few points that were... dissonant, but I assume they were intentional. They actually add to it. like how one can't know happiness without misery, one can't know harmony without dissonance.
tension n release
does anybody know where I can download some of their albums? I've been looking for a while, but found nothing! Thankssss
Just Google
This band feels like they came straight out of portlandia
Portlandia came straight out of this band! 🤪
What is the electric organ thing?
FragmentalStew I think it’s a Roxichord
I didn't know janet sang.
This band gives Schroeder a run for his money.
I did't know Spike Jonze was such a good keyboard player haha
Amazon and Spotify
pianoshizzle they’re not on either one. True punks
I'm tryna find a quasi song that's dissonant
3:04 there it is

This is just depressing.
