I DJ'd college radio about 10 years ago and this sound is still my favorite thing about music. Kind of glad it never got too popular because it feels sacred to me.
They are so happy playing together... If all bands had to reach this level of sincerity in order to play they'll all disband... And Quasi would be on top of the charts.
God I love these guys. Especially when they talk about being sloppy and how they aren't afraid to be. So much energy. I've been obsessed with them since I was in high school and I'm always finding new stuff by them or new live takes on old songs. I dig it. Hope they never stop.
Just heard a couple of tunes from this band, and I think they're really good! "Our Happiness is Guaranteed" has the exact harmony of happiness! Congrats!
Great to see Sam still at it. But it's hard to watch them, especially a song like Case of No Way Out, and not think of Elliott Smith (Quasi often toured with him, or were his backing band, or both). I do like his comment about not getting too good at playing. Most musicians who do become dreadfully boring... no joke. Overplaying to show off technical ability starts killing the songs.
Hi from southern England, heard I'll See You On Mars on 6Music last year, never heard of this group before EVER! Wow! what a group! superb stuff, are they still together? would love to see them live.
there were a few points that were... dissonant, but I assume they were intentional. They actually add to it. like how one can't know happiness without misery, one can't know harmony without dissonance.
The "electric organ thingy", not sure what he plays now, but he used to play this cool thing called a rocksichord, but it broke awhile back. I think current instrument emulates the sound of one

+noneofyoucanspell agreed.
"No matter how many times I've heard it, it still sounds new"
So true! Every time I listen to Quasi

I've been into their exhilarating music for nearly 15 years.

Great. Love the vibe. Janet is so rockin...
Every time I find a terrific new band, I also find a link to that band performing on KEXP.
just might be the ultimate Feel-Good music.
Great music, great chemistry
In almost all live performances ive seen he always keeps the keys under his knee so he can move the board with the beat. Kind of cool
I wish this had gone on just a few songs longer!

When I saw ES in 2000 (Figure 8 tour) Sam was on bass.
I agree with everything you said, but...Janet is really, really good at playing drums.
