      I bought my 14 new in 2013, in 2016 I put a roush supercharger on it. I drive it every day and now have 100k miles on the clock. I’ll probably drive it another 10 years then restore it and keep it.

      The only thing wrong with it is the electronic steering brought to the Mustang in 2011. I use to own a V6 14, it was good enough to outrun the cops...but not the cameras. I have since gone more oldschool with my 96 Camaro Z28....6 speed of course.

    I love my 14 GT premium in black. Even thought the new 2018 it’s a more sophisticated car. These late 13-14 still look awesome. I’m planning on keeping this one in the family, since it’s not my daily driver and after 4 years I just hit 10,000 miles.

  • @RobertSmith-le8wp

    I’m a GM/LS guy but the 5.0 Coyote is one heck of a great engine. High tech and sounds great. I have 250,000 plus miles on my 5.3 Silverado but my dad’s 2013 F150 5.0 is at 180,000 mostly trouble free miles. Actually the engine has been 100% perfect so it seems long term reliability is pretty good with these. I was so happy in 2011 when they brought the 5 liter back. A mustang just ain’t right without a 5.0 badge on the side. It’s amazing they double the horsepower of the old Foxbodys

    • @JJPMustang
      @JJPMustang 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's absolutely NOTHING like the old 5.0 so the only thing they brought "back" was the size in liters and a revised badge.

    I really love the look of the '10-'14 GTs with 13-14 being my favorite. Despite the newer tech and suspension from 2015 on, there just hasn't been a Mustang that I would ever really want to buy after this generation. I still really notice these on the road while anything newer just blends in with everything else.

    Mod for mod the automatic 5.0s beat the manuals 9/10. The automatic 6r80 transmission is bulletproof and the mt82 manual is the mustang's Achilles heel.

    I have a 2014 gt with leather recaros and the track pack in the same color. Absolutely love it. Comfortable for the street but still handles well. Only mod is a flowmaster exhaust. This is basically my car except I have a 6 speed manual. With 96,000 on the clock, it has been incredibly reliable. Highly recommended !
    My only complaint is fuel economy. I’m lucky to get 13 mpg city 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Agreed. Like some other folks are commenting, this may be at some altitude. The 5.0 is actually closer to 4 flat to 60 properly driven with an MT82 and of course, 12s all day. I know the auto is on par with the stick in this car except out of the hole: I've really never seen anything much below 5 out of these stock with an automatic.

    As the owner of '14 Track Pack Car those 1/4 mile and 0-60 times don't surprise me too much even if they are well bellow potential. This car is TOUGH to launch until you've had some serious seat time in it. Wheel Spin and wheel hop on the too small 255/40/19 Perrelli tire is a major problem. It took new Control arms and some practice to get the mid 4 second 0-60 times the car can do on street tires with CONSISTENCY. As for the 4.3 second 0-60 advertised by Ford....... perfect launches are required to get it and on the street it's near impossible without better tires. Make no mistake both the engine and car have the power to get you a mid to low 12 second 1/4 mile at the track........but very few people are going to get that out of it on day one at the track.

    • @StormAutoAdventures
      @StormAutoAdventures 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That makes a lot of sense. Well put.

    • @Dogboy1960
      @Dogboy1960 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** That's both true and yet not really a "fix" for the problem. The S197 was designed for the 2005 model year and Ford did very little to improve the rear suspension over the 10 year run. This Car was originally designed to handle it's 4.6 liter 3 valve motor that made a far weaker 300HP. The problems of Wheel Hop and a too skinny tire were far less obvious than it is in this car with it's 40% power increase over 2005. Luckily the "fix" is easy. New Trailing arms (inexpensive bolt ins) fix the "hop" and fatter stickier rubber does a better job of containing the wheel spin. The advertised 0-60 and 1/4 mile times can only be achieved with real consistency after you get all this sorted out. Before doing it......getting those faster times is a CRAP SHOOT requiring a practiced "launch" and crossed fingers for luck...this is.true for both standard and automatic shift cars.

    This car is about perfect. Love the looks, love that it’s still very much a pony car. I watched a review of a 2018 GT and it seems to be at a another level. More in the realm of a Vette of the era. I have a 96 Z28 and love it for its simplicity but if I were ever to replace it, it would be with an 11-14 mustang GT.

    • @blackonefifty
      @blackonefifty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan C as a matter of fact the new 2018’s are running 11’s nothing more than a stickier tire and a conservative tune 🤷‍♂️

    • @UvidCo
      @UvidCo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      blackonefifty they should be. But they won't bring doing it without A LOT stickier tire and a tune. Like slick type grip. Because there is noway in hell they are doing it without. When a 660hp gt500 can barely do 11s and 99% of the time it's high 11s on a good day.
      The thing I find funny is people say "tune" you know how much a tune can give? 10-15 HP on a bad day. People act like that a tune is nothing.

    • @blackonefifty
      @blackonefifty 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan C I mean, I give most cars a mulligan on tires. Only one manufacturer out there puts their beasts on decent rubber and that’s Dodge and even then the Hellcat and Demon are iffy. As for going on whatever this show produces for numbers, LOL. 13.5 out of any Coyote S197 is a laugher.

    • @UvidCo
      @UvidCo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      blackonefifty the tires on the hellcat aren't that great. The demon needs to be because of the HP and setup. In my opinion the best tires are the on Vette. They were the best you could get and for years there were gm exclusive. What kills a lot of these cars are the width. The hellcat has 275s. For a car with 707hp that's nothing. Christ the gm f-bodys had 275s in the 90s to 2002.

    These guys have a pretty accurate test. MT consistently gets higher times cuz they do their runs over and over and posts their lowest fastest times. And they beat the vehicle. Launch hard again and again. Turn off all the traction controls and beat on it to get the fastest times. The regular joe shmoe driving will get closer to these times but the stang is capable under the right conditions of running 4.8- 13.0 flat. 12.7 in the auto in sport mode. Even 12.5 if you catch it right.

    I like to think that the 2013 and 14 mustangs will be looked at in the same way as the R34 Nissan Skyline GTR
    How you ask??????????
    The 13 to 14 mustang is basically the last true red white and blue American muscle car from Ford before they made the mustang a global product In 2015
    It’s a similar story with the R34 only Japanese
    The 2015 mustang looks more European in its design and more like a sports car then a red blooded muscle car
    I feel there are folks out there in other parts of the world that secretly want a 13 to 14 mustang
    Just like how us Americans are begging for the R34
    Though I could be wrong idk

      You have to keep environmental factors in mind. Who knows what temperature, humidity, and effective altitude they tested at. That 420hp rating is on a dyno with various correction factors. Where I live the drag strip at ~2500ft and in the spring and fall we sometimes get near sea-level air and I've seen these cars, stock on street tires, run low 13's. Occasionally one will break into the high 12's. They do have 12's in them stock, but pretty much only under quite favorable conditions.

      You have to take into consideration air temp track temperature and altitude from sea level. Stock car with just a change of tires also makes a huge difference. But you also right it could be the driver as well.

    My bothers 3,850 LB 2001 Lincoln Continental with a 4.6L 32v V8 that's rated @ 17/25 back then, which under the post 2008 ratings would be 15/23 gets really good mpg's. He actually averages 26-27 mpg @ 60-65 mph & averages 20 mpg overall. That 17/26 rating of the 5.0 would have been 19/28 prior to 2008. That's absolutely amazing for a V8, hell that's even good for a V6. How can this 200 pound lighter car with 2 extra gears & all this technology get 2-3 mpg less than my brother car @ 60 mph?

    What’s crazy about this car is that it made 420hp and 390 ftlbs with a naturally aspirated 5.0 for $31,000 starting price, when 10 years earlier in 2003 the cobra had 390 hp and 390 ftlbs, with a supercharged 4.6 engine and a base price of $33,000. The terminator is still cooler in my opinion though lol

    • @LT-jc4qb

      Nice Try just bought a 2013 with 3.73 and all season tires which are junk. Cold temps bad traction I going 0-60 in 4.8 the only way I do worse is if you let it spin. Cant wait for spring warm temps and summer tires.

    Depends on the auto...but the ones today are indeed batter than the ones from yesteryear. The point is that even they admit that the car is slower than the previous car they tested and even what they expected. Could be the track or atmospheric conditions...or a soft car. The driver doesn't 'suck'...

    Also, the era is not even close to over man. The Mustang, Camaro & Challenger are selling like mad. Especially the Mustang & the Camaro. I see these cars all over the place. Ever since 2005 when the S197 came out, the muscle car has been a hot ticket again. Now that the Camaro SS, Challenger R/T & SRT-8 are out there has been a huge battle between them which is great! Most people who buy $30k-$40K+ cars don't have to worry about mpg's, which are improving every year anyway.

  • @BigBickEnergy

    12.7-13.0 is the norm in the 1/4 for the 13 mustang. I believe they left traction control on and used the slow performing tap shift. If it was a manual I wouldnt need to comment.

    At 60mph in my 2013 GT Manual with 3.55 gear I get about 28 mpg. 24-25mpg at 75-80 mph with fairly flat road. 22mpg mixed driving. Never done all city driving. But im sure its better than 13.9. Because mine didnt even go that low after a few hours at the drag strip. You just dont know how to squeeze out the mpg's if thats all your getting.

    Stangs are cool and they are fun to drive but that era is over. Just like in the 70s brought on the death, high gas prices are forcing people to get rid of their gas guzzling muscle car. In the manual expect 13.9 mpg city and 23.9 mpg hwy at 60 mph. The auto gets 1-2 mpg better. It's a great car always has been and ford has not rested on their laurels. The 2015 mustang should kick ass. Power is not an issue, they have that nailed down. V6 is pretty damn good also. There is no reason for high gas

    Both Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro has that hump on the hood leaving Dodge Challenger the best of the retro design among the three, just because of that hump. Now, if the design is retro, not everyone prefers the look of a bumped up exaggerated looks of the old design. Some like the plain simple and elegant looks of an old car even is it is a pony car. Just look at the 1964 Mustang, the original, it is still the best design with the elegant lines and no exaggerated hump on the hood.

    Wow I guess that track sucks, it's hard to blame the driver with an auto, I was at the track with 1 last week and he went 12.9 stock auto car. And I'm at 14.3 with a 6 speed 3.7 base model all stock short shifting. I think I can even see 14.1 with a better 60' and 7k shifts.
