    These are a couple of our favorite exercises for the hip flexors. The focus here is on eccentric lengthening which has proven to be incredibly valuable for ongoing hip issues. Give them a try and we hope you find them very helpful!

    How many should I do. I went for 10 seconds, nowhere near the floor like you but will I get lower as I do them. I'm from New Zealand and si impressed with these and your knee regime. Thank you

      @@ZHealthPerformance would be tremendously grateful if you could find a second to reflect on these: 1. Isn’t stronger pulling action from back knee when it is down, in other words what is the value of having knee up? 2. Lifting the front heel puts pelvis in a slightly anterior tilt which is a bit counterintuitive when addressing hip flexors. Thank you for these wonderful videos

    These are great but what else can u do it flexors are extremely tight and legs even weaker. ( multiple sclerosis). Double whammy here 🙄. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thx

      Many of these types of exercises can be performed using a strap or exercise band while lying down which makes them still quite useful with a variety of conditions that impact on leg strength. We would recommend you discuss this with your therapy team to see what modifications might be useful. Thank you.

    For the first exercise, is it OK to shift/slide the hands down the wall as the knee comes down? That makes it easier for me to apply consistent pressure to the wall.

    So you try to make the initial 20-30 second last 3 whole minutes on the first exercise?

      Eventually, yes. But it can take a long time to work up to that level so starting at 20 seconds and working up over time is the way to go!

    I am hypermobile and my knee hurts when I do the first exercise :( what do I do wrong?

      There are a lot of things happening in the first exercise so it's impossible to say definitively. However, in hypermobile clients we often find that the additional muscle tension added to the lunge can be uncomfortable at first. We would recommend that you try the lunges without any additional muscle tension and even use chairs or some other support to decrease the load. Good luck!
