What makes Sheriff Herb Geller's death more shocking in this 1988 remake movie of "The Blob" was that like Paul, their actors were both top billed and potentially set up as the main characters in this movie, only for the both of them to end up as victims early in the movie.

It actually scared me more than any other horror flick bc you cannot reason with the unreasonable or know the unknown. Encountering this thing usually meant it was too late for you, especially bc it was hyper aggressive in this remake. Kuddos for exploiting air vents, sewer pipes, and cracks under doors. I made my dad move my bunk bed to the side of the room opppsite of the ac vent. Lol
Also, to learn it was filmed in my state...😮😂 ...added a familiar creepiness.

I wasn’t even born yet when this film was released, but I remember catching a glimpse of it on TV when I was in my late elementary school days in the early 2010’s. The drain scene was one of the first things I saw when my mom turned it on, so when the corpse showed up against the the phone booth, I used to think the Blob hadn’t completely digested poor George yet and that it was his body. Now that I’ve seen these clips recently, I can clearly see the Sheriff’s Badge on Herb’s chest.

Because it's "real" your brain register that there is an object there but cgi ur brain can tell when it's just an edited graphics added so it looks fake and it's never really scary. We're not there yet where cgi looks real. I think we are close but it just not there 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
