    I’m a single Vietnamese female with two little ones, and this exact problem has been happening for over a year now. I’m so sick of it, I just let the fan stay frozen and use only the middle compartment as my fridge, and the bottom freezer because after defrosting everything, the problem starts all over again within days. It’s Been tough!!!
    Additionally, I have been ripped off by technicians after paid services, still same problem.
    It made perfect sense After I stumbled across your video with such a catchy/great title sooooo I got my girlie toolbox out, started the fast defrost mode with only the top cleared out like you and door open with fan blowing, then I unplugged the unit from wall.
    After taking everything off as you’ve shown (as for the bottom shelf, it easily came out after I firmly pressed the two little nubs that’s on each side), quite a lot of ice were still there but not enough to keep me from taking panel off. I used hair dryer as you suggested.
    The only difference was I started ripping all the Styrofoam with such great pleasure!!!!!
    I didn’t even care about saving it because not only your explanations made perfect sense, but you mentioned you gave it 8 months of tested time for proven success.
    Other videos made it seem so complicated to take that panel off that I feared doing it myself. It took me watching tons of videos throughout the entire year, But you made it seemed like I can do it while enjoying a beer.
    This malfunction design flaw has brought so much anguish in my life too because my fridge was still so new and beautiful to have this problem (just barely ran out of warranty).
    Welllllll….I did it!!!! Now only time will tell. It’s midnight now and all will be a surprise in the AM. I can’t wait to keep my milk bottle in my fridge again!!!!!
    Sorry about my rambling on, but I can’t tell you how grateful I am, and this is my way of showing my appreciation in addition to watching all the commercials so you can hopefully get a lil compensation by them 😘🙏🙏🙏💕

      Dang you go girl ! That’s Wsup! I’m in Cali. I would love to help fix your fridge free labor. I can’t imagine what it must be like for you. A fridge is important . Sorry for the techs ripping you off. I became a technician to help people .

    The styrofoam is there for a reason. It's a damper and insulation. The issue for the freeze up is four-fold: 1. Samsung poor design. 2. The yellow wired component is the thermostat. Replace it. 3. The metal clip at the bottom of the drain is too small. It heats up during defrost to melt and drain the ice. Replace it. Both 2 and 3 are a $15 kit from Amazon. 4. The drain tube in the back where the defrosted water is supposed to drain down to the compressor and evaporate is blocked. The tubes have a thin tip at the end and doesn't allow water to flow freely. This water backs up and refreezes, blocking the drain. This is why water builds in the compartment and flows into crisper drawers and onto the floor. Remove the tubes if you want. This will stop the water inside the fridge. Good video.

    THIS IS A MUST READ!!!!!!! If you are still having spilling inside your Fridge under the tray... there are silcone drain tubes in the back of the fridge. Take the panel off the bottom part of the fridge in the back ***not underneath the fridge***. Take those drain tubes out....Build up of crud stops up those drain tubes. Take them out **water will spill out!!** clean and replace. PROBLEM Solved!!! great video for taking out that Styrofoam piece

    That happens because the drain line is clogged or frozen. There is a plain metal piece running from the coils to a hole. You can defrost it and clear it up with a wire also. Be sure that piece of metal is in the whole area it heats it to keep it draining. Thanks for that fix. I may end up doing that if using rd in the screen doesn’t do the trick.

    Question: Is this fan always running and it's only heard even the ice builds up? I'm overseas. My Samsung version is a little different. Not sure that "door" can be opened.

    Have you tested your defrost timer, thermal fuse and element ? If ice build up, maybe your defrost system fail to do his job !

      I keep getting ripped off with technicians because I am a female. Anyways, after taking the panel off, everything works……but now my waterline froze up and water would not come out of my refrigerator and therefore no ice either.

    When you used the hair dryer to defrost the ice did you unplug the fridge and empty out the entire fridge, to include the freezer (and put food elsewhere) or did you just empty out the top as shown in your video and leave it running?
    Or did you just empty out the top, unplug, use blow dryer.

      I left the refrigerator running I pulled all the food out because you have to remove the bottom trays to remove the back panel

      Thank you. We are having trouble getting the drawer off of the water filter compartment thingee. Any suggestions?

    • @tomking3502
      @tomking3502  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@evavitale7411 yes first you have to remove the 2 bottom compartments on each door then you have to remove the drawers on either side of the water filter now you have to remove the tray that covers the two bottom drawers which you have to depress a button to release it from the water filter component. The tray should now lift up and out

    Did this fix the water freezing under the pull out tray as well?

      That's a different issue but Samsung DOES have a repair for that. Samsung's ice up so that is a defect but other than that I love mine.

    Tom, thanks for making this video. I really hope this works for me too. I have one question though. It seems like removing the foam might increase the time between defrosts by creating more room for the ice to build up, but it might still build up. As the problem recurred since you posted this video? And have you taken the panel off just to see if the ice is building up behind it?

    This isn't the correct fix. The correct fix is to get a replacement (larger) metal tab that protrudes into the drain hole The tab is clamped to a heater and defrosts the drain hole. The original tab doesn't conduct enough heat but the bigger replacement does.

    • @Marzen216
      @Marzen216 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the correct fix. My temp fix was to use a piece of solid copper bare wire from some 14 gauge Romex I had. Strip it and bend it to surround the metal tab and hang down into the drain hole preventing ice from forming in the drain tube.

      He was actually showing how to prevent the problem with the fan hitting ice from a build up. His new issue ended up being water under the drawer.

    I have the side by side model, but I have the same issue on the fridge side. Not the the freezer, who knows why. You would think it would be the opposite, because there is a fan on both sides. But nope. I am going to try this. I hope it works. Mine normally happens about twice year maybe more, but still annoying to have to pull everything out. But it happened to my other samsung fridge to befor it was out of warranty. It had only one fan in the freezer that sent air to the fridge. But that worked in my favor, because Samsung called after the 3 attempt to repair it and ask if I would like it replaced. Sure I would because I knew the model I bought had been discontinued and they would give me the $3000 one and the sale price I got the other one at $900 😉😁.

    Yea, i saw the video of the guy splicing in another heater element. That seems too difficult for the majority of consumers - one error could short it out or make the refrigerator an electrical hazard. Plus he acknowledges that this is not a standard repair technique.

  • @CliffDiseker

    I'm going tto try this TODAY! My Samsuck fridge does this all the time and I'm done paying repair techs to fix it.
    Also, the following link shows how to solve the leaky freezing water issue in the bottom of the tray area.

    Are you kidding me? I guarantee that your "fix" is costing you way more in electricity than before for reasons that I won't bother explaining since it is as you say "above your pay grade". Secondly, you exchanged one problem with another. I do not recommend doing this.
