- After lots of skip development and re-routing, the Hollow Knight Minimum Wallcling challenge has been lowered down to only 3 wallclings! In this video, I show the process of beating the game with this enormous movement restriction.

its pretty incredible to think that it was believed that that shaft wasnt even possible with 2 wallclings, much less 1
so many background objects behind long and convoluted skips... you can't mess up ONCE without losing multiple MINUTES. this is insane, really great work :D

I would be very interested in seeing how many wallclings it would take to get 112% completion, similar to the A button challenge of the SM64 community. I don’t know if there’s much interest in the community to do it, but this was great regardless! I was happy to see some skips I’ve performed myself in bunch of times in randos, because I usually end up getting wings before claws hahahaha
With major glitches it’s 0 a presses. With no major glitches probably quite a lot of a presses

Unbelievably ingenious routing. It's amazing how seemingly unrelated mechanics can work together to achieve such greatness. This amount of effort and quality deserves more attention!

@@Schyshy I think that’s if you have claw, but if it were possible with just one pogo clawless it’d just be a lot harder than doing a parry, maybe with nail length it’d be easier to just pogo

mention you can get full health + soul every stagger, hit his armour, dreamnail or heal, hit armour, repeat until ready to end the stagger.

So... now it's possible to do this whole thing with only 2 wall jumps thanks to self-fireball-pogo to get Wings
Basically Lurien is the real villain, forcing you to make the only 2 wall jumps in the entire game.
Amazing work. Now see what kind of routing is needed for a steel soul run of this.

Great video! It's interesting in the same way I find the SM64 A button challenge fascinating. These restrictions really breed creativity. Incidentally, my favorite instances of the HK randomizer is when I get an early Wings but never find Claw. Two questions
1) Have you looked into the minimum wall clings for other parts of the game as well? I suspect that you can get a very high % completion with only the 3 wall clings in the video. On the other hand, White Palace would be hell.
2) Is getting Isma's Tear really necessary? You can get all the way to Teacher's Archives without it (or wall clinging). Maybe if you die to the acid in the area under Monomon, you can use a combination of the Shade plus the TAS-only jellyfish bomb to get up there.
ismas tear is necessary to get under monomon in the archives. for some reason, dying in the archives acid spawns the shade above the uumuu arena
After stallball was found, I thought of doing the pantheons to avoid the two walljumps for Lurien...and I found that it is impossible then to complete White Palace without walljumps.

I was wondering if the crawler/mawlec pogo near the wings was possible.
I did all the other stuff to get there without walljump except the Blue Lake skip.
I'm not good enough to do the pogoing, even with no nail upgrades.
Now can you get past the last place there without the wall jump!
No place to die, no background, etc.
Does the hour long one have the whole thing without the jump cuts?
I want to see how you did stuff like getting glowing womb and the City of Tears and no claw.
What is the maximum percentage without stuff like the claw or the dash?
Can you get the crystal heart without the dash; maybe use the cyclone spin to slow down in the first section near the spikes on the walls instead of the dash to get across.
I'm actually trying to list all the places you can go with what items.
I'm not sure of some like getting the baldur shell with only fireball, or howling wraiths by pogoing on the evil shrub/shade.
Or even getting across to the city gate - where the crest is needed - using only the claw and fireball, or claw and wings, or whatever.
And how many skip are possible without the shade, or even getting hurt, the damage e.g. boost in the spire.

I remember seeing a video in which you could get wings without claw. The problem is that it is incredibly hard and you basically have one shot at it, if you fail you gotta do Basin all over again.
So in a hypothetical sense, 2 wall jumps is possible.*
@@ashlynnisunoriginal its not. blair’s clawless wings uses a glitch known as seam jump which is considered a major glitch according to speedrun rules. if we allow seam jump we would theoretically be allowing every other major glitch including perma float.

Btw, could Monomon have also been done using a shade skip instead of the TAS thing? Or is that shade skip not possible? (i.e. leave dream-gate at Isma's Tear without picking it up -> go set up shade at Monomon -> use dream-gate to pick up Isma's -> shade-skip)

This is a little outdated. With perfect stall balls (pogo on vengeful spirit) you can actually beat HK without mantis claw. But I think its TAS only, since some of the stall balls have to be super precise.
