I died when Radiance teleported right as I was about to pogo her. It was like halfway through the final phase. Saying hello to the Shade siblings was not pleasant.
@@ATSM_33If you want to know Absrad teleports early to the center when 1 hit away so it may have been the last hit. I think I died 8 times on that last part after the climb in my radiant absrad attempts before my first clear.

My guess is your using: Quick slash, shaman (the basics everyone needs), spell twister, grimmchild and soul eater. I'm not that experienced so I'd probably just use my usual build that's quick slash, shaman, unbreakable strength and mark of pride(that would usually be unbreakable heart but well, radiant) and perhaps would never win with it so thx for the new perspective, that's what I'd think of using, well good luck, sorry for writing something this long and also, I'll try doing radiant radiance after I finish doing all achievements (i forgot to do Mr mushroom and still need to do steel soul achievements) I'll tell you when I finished and will post a pick or maybe the fight if I record it (idk if you'll notice me bc you'll be probably famous by then) but, oh well, again sorry for the essay I basically wrote here 😅

Gotta make sure to put on the two-notch charms first to actually be sure to over-charm. I've personally already completed every achievement (funnily enough, beat P5 on my Steel Soul file because I got Carefree Melody instead of Grimmchild [absolutely amazing charm by the way, absolutely get it as soon as possible in Steel Soul]), and I don't even remember my charm build. But overall, yeah, Hollow Knight all achievements is *fucked*. (Me being an absolute sweat, I've actually just been doing stupid challenge runs for fun. No bosses, bosses in Alphabetical Order, Spelless, etc). Anyway, just keep going at it, mate. Even if it takes you two hours or two years to beat Abs Rad, just know that the end is always within arms reach. You just need to scrape past the shattered glass and blistering hot flames, and pull it out of the depths of the hell this game has set up for ya. I've had my fair share of beating batshit insane runs in different types of games, so I know a thing or two about grinding the absolute fuck out of them. Anyway, thanks for the sub, lol. @ATSM_33 you'll get her soon. It took me about 12 hours from first encounter to radiant completion over a week. Even more painful that I did ascended mode hitless, so I basically did radiant twice for it to count. Keep trying. It feels amazing

Radiant absolute radiance was the singular thing I never accomplished in hollow knight and it’s haunted me to this day. Very much feel this pain. Recently started another play through to try it again. Wish me luck

Soul sanctum was so much hell oh my god. Having to run all the way back to the boss, getting hit like a million times just to die again. I hate soul sanctum as a beginner
My worst was defeating the boss and getting killed by a projectile immediately afterwards. I got the achievement but still had to redo the encounter. This was in my first run-through so it was a big deal for me at the time.
I once thought it would be a good try to DDark during climb to get I-frames from the laser on me I do not know what was going on in my head Also Grimmchild goated on radiant fights idk what the comments are talking about.
Also yeah, D-Darking would be a good strategy just in case you're not feeling too good about the climb. You won't need SOUL in the final showdown at the top. But it's almost always better to rush it.

First of all, despite what you say, grimmchild is not helpful against radiance at all and barely does any damage. In its maxed out form, it only does eleven damage per shot, which is already significantly less damage per hit compared to a nail hit, especially considering the fact that grimmchild has a slow moving projectile that could miss, especially if the enemy can teleport a lot, like soul tyrant, soul warrior, and basically every dream fight. It’s also bad against enemies with a lot of speed such as hornet, sisters of battle, sly, and pure vessel. It also is completely useless against Grimm and NKG who actually take it away from you. If you can hit consistent shots though, Grimmchild only shoots every two seconds which is 5.5 damage per second compared to a maxed out nail that has 21 damage and hits every 0.42 seconds, dealing around 42 damage per second, and with quickslash, 63 damage per second since it slashes about every 0.28 seconds. Grimmchild also doesn’t have that much range and shoots if the enemy is in a close radius to it, and if you don’t believe me and think I’ve never used it, then look into my streams where it’s very clear. It’s just a waste of two charm notches in general, and you can replace it with quite literally anything, such as grubsong, dream wielder, steady body, nailmasters glory, weaverlings,, spell twister, soul catcher, and more. And better yet, look at the 500 comments you responded to. Cuz if you take some time to see how well written your responses were compared to mine, you’ll start to feel a lot more embarrassed.

Well, I've been saying that Grimmchild is really the most useful on Absolute Radiance. For other bosses, a lot of them are too nimble for Grimmchild to reliably hit. So, all in all, once you get to P5 and unlock Absolute Radiance, Grimmchild is useful there. But I recommend Fury of the Fallen instead of Grimmchild, since once you hit one mask, you'll be hitting like a truck. I used Grimmchild because it was Radiant, so Fury had no use. I eventually switched to Grubberfly's Elegy though, and it got me the win after several attempts.
The issue with absrad is that you cannot fight it to practice unless you get that high in the climb. I have yet to get that far but once I do I doubt I will be skilled enough to win first try. At least I can no hit nkg!
I won't forget the rage I felt Radianting NKG, lol Reminds me of how 100% possible Radiant Pure Vessel felt, but I always fucked up on the Void Tentacle attack (despite that being the easiest attack for me from experience).

@@erikyesthe boss can't normally kill you in one hit. But in the hall of gods in Godhome, you can choose to try battles on the radiant difficulty, where everything kills you in a single hit.

@@ATSM_33 first of all I have and it just doesn’t work, and since you believe in it so much I’ll just go over some facts. A maxed out nail hit does 21 damage, and a maxed out grimmchild does 11 damage per hit, already showing a sign of weakness. Not only that, but it doesn’t have as much range as you think, considering the fact that you have to be in a decently close radius to absolute radiance, meanwhile you have other ranged weapons like shade soul and abyss shriek, and if you want to argue, then just look at my pets only stream and you’ll see it has limited range. It also is inconsistent. While it can easily hit radiance since she teleports instead of moving, have fun trying to have it hit any other boss with fast movement speed, big fields, other targets such as zotelings or the tamer in god tamer, teleporting abilities with pure vessel soul tyrant etc., or Grimm and NKG where it’s not even there. And if you want to go further, keep in mind it has a slow shooting speed. Shooting about once every two seconds. Meanwhile, a nail hit without quickslash can hit up to 4 times in that span, hitting every 0.42 seconds if done consistently and faster without quickslash but I want to rap this up. The last thing I’ll mention is that it’s a waste of two entire notches. I’m not gonna bother wasting my time watching your video again, but spell twister, nail masters glory, steady body, soul catcher, long nail, and hell even sharp shadow are better. And if you want to go into more charms that overcharm since this is radiant, then you can look at just about every 3 and 4 notch charm. Last I looked at your comments already which is why I commented this in the first place, and your points are stupid, with stuff such as, “it’s good against absrad” meanwhile it’s basically tickling its balls. So if you can come up with arguments as to why you should use your two charm notches on this and pretend I haven’t tried it already for absrad speedruns when I have, then I’ll come back with more if they are even good.

@@ATSM_33 whats your charm build then? grimmchild is basically never worth it, since there is always something else that can do more damage for the notch cost. I used quickslash, strength, shamans, steady body, and overcharmed with soul eater. steady body is most useful in the first phase, but can be good in the platform phase as well. soul eater just helps with getting enough soul to spam spells in the platform phase. you might also be able to replace soul eater with elegy, since you can actually hit radiance with the nail and the projectile, which is a 50% damage boost, the same as strength. you do end up getting way less soul though, so you might not want to use that. if you have any other radiant bosses left though, elegy is amazing against any boss that staggers and got me my first PV radiant clear TL;DR, grimmchild bad, str, qslash, shstone, steady body, soul eater/grubberfly's elegy
Spells are overrated tbh, I can see how they are beneficial to players that have already mastered the bosses and want to perfect their skills, but for most players I think it's more risky to use spells than not to use spells on radiant battles
I want to first say I'm so sorry that you got such an awful RNG pattern. I have done radiant absolute radiance and that phase is PAIN. But, uh, why were you using grimmchild...? It just kinda seems like a waste of notches even if you were overcharmed. You could replace it with something like wayward compass and win easily. Though, I respect wanting a challenge and not using the best charm that would make it easy.
It does more damage to Radiance than you'd think. He put in a lot of work against Ascended Radiance, and I thought why not try him out for Radiant. I've since changed my build, however. Unbreakable Strength, Shaman Stone, Quick Slash, maybe a 1 notch charm for an extra buff, and Grubberfly's Elegy. Seeing how beeg Radiance's hitbox is, it isn't too difficult to land the energy wave after landing a nail strike on her, gaining a net positive +50% damage.
No, lol Soul Eater is practically useless here since I'm saving my spells for Phase 2 regardless, and I have enough SOUL built up by then. I'm practically always gonna be right up against Abs Rad to where MoP won't really do much good apart from Phase 3. Even then in Phase 3, Grubberfly's gonna still be doing some more damage during then.
Yeah actually. Since Radiance is basically a static hitbox 50% of the time, Grimmchild has a lot of room to get in hits. He's gotten the knockdown on Radiance quite a few times.
I'm not beating myself up over it. Trust me, I know the pain of Radiant battles when put together with RNG. Oblobbles, Markoth, Soul Tyrant, etc. Fun fact: Soul Tyrant has as much health as Pure Vessel.
@ATSM_33 What rng does soul tyrant have? I thought failed champion and uumuu had bad rng, but I didn't think Soul Tyrant had any at all ( I didn't do every boss radiant yet and am avoiding Markoth and Oblobbles because they sound terrible to beat)

Bro, mantis lords are one of the best bosses. You just need to practice, they're like a test to see if you understand the movement and combat skills you've got so far.
1.) Read the pinned comment. 2.) He does more than you'd think. Believe me, I've tested him quite a bit. 3.) Already beat Radiant quite a bit of time ago. I switched to Grubberfly because of the consistent extra damage from the energy wave. Much more useful in Radiant than Ascended, where Grimmchild was actually much more useful (seeing as Fury and Deep Focus were my main two charms, Strength and Grimmchild taking the last 5).
Panicking. Going at Radiant Radiance again and again with prioritization over simply avoiding attacks at all costs really raises the anxiety. Plus the fact my reactions are often very instinctive with no real thought behind them. I was just burnt out at the mo, I guess.

I wish you all of the luck that the universe can manage to give to you. It really is RNG when your reaction time ain't exactly the best. Good luck, man. Pay attention to all of your surroundings, every little movement and angle. Study the fight to the greatest extent you can. Also get used to D-Darking when you start to panic

Well, there's always panic dashing, and from there you can typically avoid the follow-ups. Worked for me on a number of occasions. Other times, I was so focused that all I did was step to the side, absolutely LOCKED in on the signals.

Well, I've been saying that Grimmchild is really the most useful on Absolute Radiance. For other bosses, a lot of them are too nimble for Grimmchild to reliably hit.
So, all in all, once you get to P5 and unlock Absolute Radiance, Grimmchild is useful there.
But I recommend Fury of the Fallen instead of Grimmchild, since once you hit one mask, you'll be hitting like a truck. I used Grimmchild because it was Radiant, so Fury had no use.
I eventually switched to Grubberfly's Elegy though, and it got me the win after several attempts.
The issue with absrad is that you cannot fight it to practice unless you get that high in the climb. I have yet to get that far but once I do I doubt I will be skilled enough to win first try. At least I can no hit nkg!
I won't forget the rage I felt Radianting NKG, lol
Reminds me of how 100% possible Radiant Pure Vessel felt, but I always fucked up on the Void Tentacle attack (despite that being the easiest attack for me from experience).

I more mean you can't practice absrad until you fight it in the pantheon. At least I think so.

There is a bug in which you die on the climb because you fell in the void and you respawn in the void and just die, happened to me once

that happens when yo go too high on the phase before the climb, then the game thinks you’re already on the climb and raises the void

@@erikyesthe boss can't normally kill you in one hit. But in the hall of gods in Godhome, you can choose to try battles on the radiant difficulty, where everything kills you in a single hit.

@@ATSM_33 first of all I have and it just doesn’t work, and since you believe in it so much I’ll just go over some facts.
A maxed out nail hit does 21 damage, and a maxed out grimmchild does 11 damage per hit, already showing a sign of weakness. Not only that, but it doesn’t have as much range as you think, considering the fact that you have to be in a decently close radius to absolute radiance, meanwhile you have other ranged weapons like shade soul and abyss shriek, and if you want to argue, then just look at my pets only stream and you’ll see it has limited range. It also is inconsistent. While it can easily hit radiance since she teleports instead of moving, have fun trying to have it hit any other boss with fast movement speed, big fields, other targets such as zotelings or the tamer in god tamer, teleporting abilities with pure vessel soul tyrant etc., or Grimm and NKG where it’s not even there. And if you want to go further, keep in mind it has a slow shooting speed. Shooting about once every two seconds. Meanwhile, a nail hit without quickslash can hit up to 4 times in that span, hitting every 0.42 seconds if done consistently and faster without quickslash but I want to rap this up. The last thing I’ll mention is that it’s a waste of two entire notches. I’m not gonna bother wasting my time watching your video again, but spell twister, nail masters glory, steady body, soul catcher, long nail, and hell even sharp shadow are better. And if you want to go into more charms that overcharm since this is radiant, then you can look at just about every 3 and 4 notch charm.
Last I looked at your comments already which is why I commented this in the first place, and your points are stupid, with stuff such as, “it’s good against absrad” meanwhile it’s basically tickling its balls. So if you can come up with arguments as to why you should use your two charm notches on this and pretend I haven’t tried it already for absrad speedruns when I have, then I’ll come back with more if they are even good.
@@ATSM_33Grimmchild is a bad charm, and here’s why despite you saying you have to “utilize it properly” and “see how it does, hmm?”.
First of all, despite what you say, grimmchild is not helpful against radiance at all and barely does any damage. In its maxed out form, it only does eleven damage per shot, which is already significantly less damage per hit compared to a nail hit, especially considering the fact that grimmchild has a slow moving projectile that could miss, especially if the enemy can teleport a lot, like soul tyrant, soul warrior, and basically every dream fight. It’s also bad against enemies with a lot of speed such as hornet, sisters of battle, sly, and pure vessel. It also is completely useless against Grimm and NKG who actually take it away from you. If you can hit consistent shots though, Grimmchild only shoots every two seconds which is 5.5 damage per second compared to a maxed out nail that has 21 damage and hits every 0.42 seconds, dealing around 42 damage per second, and with quickslash, 63 damage per second since it slashes about every 0.28 seconds. Grimmchild also doesn’t have that much range and shoots if the enemy is in a close radius to it, and if you don’t believe me and think I’ve never used it, then look into my streams where it’s very clear.
It’s just a waste of two charm notches in general, and you can replace it with quite literally anything, such as grubsong, dream wielder, steady body, nailmasters glory, weaverlings,, spell twister, soul catcher, and more.
And better yet, look at the 500 comments you responded to. Cuz if you take some time to see how well written your responses were compared to mine, you’ll start to feel a lot more embarrassed.

Swap grimmchild for shamans, you can use a bunch of shrieks and d darks in the platform phase
I have Shaman on.
Also, you have to be very careful when actually using spells. You never know how bad of a play using a spell can be in certain situations.
@@ATSM_33 whats your charm build then? grimmchild is basically never worth it, since there is always something else that can do more damage for the notch cost.
I used quickslash, strength, shamans, steady body, and overcharmed with soul eater. steady body is most useful in the first phase, but can be good in the platform phase as well. soul eater just helps with getting enough soul to spam spells in the platform phase.
you might also be able to replace soul eater with elegy, since you can actually hit radiance with the nail and the projectile, which is a 50% damage boost, the same as strength. you do end up getting way less soul though, so you might not want to use that. if you have any other radiant bosses left though, elegy is amazing against any boss that staggers and got me my first PV radiant clear
TL;DR, grimmchild bad, str, qslash, shstone, steady body, soul eater/grubberfly's elegy

Spells are overrated tbh, I can see how they are beneficial to players that have already mastered the bosses and want to perfect their skills, but for most players I think it's more risky to use spells than not to use spells on radiant battles

I want to first say I'm so sorry that you got such an awful RNG pattern. I have done radiant absolute radiance and that phase is PAIN. But, uh, why were you using grimmchild...? It just kinda seems like a waste of notches even if you were overcharmed. You could replace it with something like wayward compass and win easily. Though, I respect wanting a challenge and not using the best charm that would make it easy.

It does more damage to Radiance than you'd think. He put in a lot of work against Ascended Radiance, and I thought why not try him out for Radiant.
I've since changed my build, however. Unbreakable Strength, Shaman Stone, Quick Slash, maybe a 1 notch charm for an extra buff, and Grubberfly's Elegy.
Seeing how beeg Radiance's hitbox is, it isn't too difficult to land the energy wave after landing a nail strike on her, gaining a net positive +50% damage.

Soul Eater is practically useless here since I'm saving my spells for Phase 2 regardless, and I have enough SOUL built up by then.
I'm practically always gonna be right up against Abs Rad to where MoP won't really do much good apart from Phase 3. Even then in Phase 3, Grubberfly's gonna still be doing some more damage during then.

Yeah actually. Since Radiance is basically a static hitbox 50% of the time, Grimmchild has a lot of room to get in hits. He's gotten the knockdown on Radiance quite a few times.
Please don't beat yourself up over this btw - that phase is honestly complete luck based with how fast and seemingly random the lasers are

Trust me, I know the pain of Radiant battles when put together with RNG.
Oblobbles, Markoth, Soul Tyrant, etc.
Fun fact: Soul Tyrant has as much health as Pure Vessel.

2.) He does more than you'd think. Believe me, I've tested him quite a bit.
3.) Already beat Radiant quite a bit of time ago. I switched to Grubberfly because of the consistent extra damage from the energy wave. Much more useful in Radiant than Ascended, where Grimmchild was actually much more useful (seeing as Fury and Deep Focus were my main two charms, Strength and Grimmchild taking the last 5).

Panicking. Going at Radiant Radiance again and again with prioritization over simply avoiding attacks at all costs really raises the anxiety. Plus the fact my reactions are often very instinctive with no real thought behind them.

Radiant absolute radiance was the singular thing I never accomplished in hollow knight and it’s haunted me to this day. Very much feel this pain. Recently started another play through to try it again. Wish me luck

Good luck, man. Pay attention to all of your surroundings, every little movement and angle. Study the fight to the greatest extent you can. Also get used to D-Darking when you start to panic

Well, there's always panic dashing, and from there you can typically avoid the follow-ups. Worked for me on a number of occasions.
Other times, I was so focused that all I did was step to the side, absolutely LOCKED in on the signals.
