question, is one of the musics in the video a remix or realated to ori and the blind forest? near the beggining, 2:53 onward oh, nevermind, it must be because later you defenitly use another in the hardest softlock segment.
There is something immensely funny about the knight just reading the map and walking right past Hornet, ignoring her threat. "Yeah yeah, get in line. Even the bushes want to kill me."
This video shows that most of the game is built around claw Also, blue lake skip is too cursed Edit: about that last softlock, didn't you reach that same position in your get to as many areas as possible challenge, and then you reached to fungal, meaning that you could get claw and make your way back to dirtmouth?
I was thinking the game is built around cloak. For every skip, and for every run (even speedrun), it is always picked up because otherwise the game would be literally unplayable. Initial skills open areas, later skills improve movement I'd say.
The reason why patch 1221 lags on your pc is probably because earlier hollow knight patches came without a framerate cap. When I tried 1221 on my pc for the first time it went up to 700 fps and gpu started overheating lol. If your gpu doesn't come with a manual framerate cap override you could try using a framerate limiter software such as Rivatuner like many speedrunners do
I thought I recognized Ori music and apparently I was right! Hollow Knight, Ori 1 and Ori 2 are some great games with amazing music! Also, nice timing at 13:22 with the soul sanctum/soul master theme. Why does having the map allow you to skip the Hornet boss fight? That's so funny but it seems so weird that it's in the game at all.
Great video, one really sees that you spent much time making this. And it's exclusive hollow knight content, no one else did these softlocks as far as I am aware

(nvm only read the pinned comment now) Great video and I can notice that you put a lot of effort into them! There's just a little thing that bothers me in the second softlock: Since you need 1221 to perform the lever skip with dash slash to QG, the skip in the slightly darker room in QG that leads to deepnest won't be possible because the spiny husks' thorns don't have a hitbox in that version. I'm not sure if this is true, but I think it's worth it checking out if it's possible. Great video again!
Cool video! Small tip though, you still have the game's music turned on, so whenever the game music is actually playing there are 2 different music tracks playing since you put music on top of it, which isn't ideal. But it definitely didn't ruin it and I enjoyed it!
(1:23) whoa, 2 fireball (12:57) this shade skip can be skipped and you just need to pogo the enemy to the right; see at about 21 minutes into the csc wr (by staxis). ~~also nice csc run, whats your time~~
I once got “softlocked” (I say in quotations because someone with more skill would not be in that situation) in Crystal Peaks, because I went in using D-dive and didn’t have lantern to exit through the gate, but didn’t have the skill to dark room into resting grounds

Hey, im not positive about this but you could possibly get out of the greenpath softlock. Instead of going the intended way back up you could go back from where you exit the hornet arena. If the fight still triggers but your locked out of the room, you might be able to kill her from the hitting her when she gets near the wall. Im not at all positive on this so ill probably test it.
Just wanna say im not sure but for the shade skip to oro im pretty sure you can just pogo a primal aspid to Get up if you use some fireballs, can probably save some time
@@FIREOWLHK i think you misunderstand--the shade spawns out of reach of the knight in that room, regardless of where you die (trust me, I've tried all the acid pools). You cannot get out of the softlock, even in normal mode.
im pretty sure that you can escape the ancient basin SL by simply doing a pogo shade skip across the spikey area. killing the broken vessel. yoinking double jump and then farming the 2 geo off the shade crawlers till you have enough to go to the hidden station and then get the goofy out of there. though you might need mantis claw to get up to certain areas. im sure you can use some tricky skips. probably possible but maybe impossible
@@FIREOWLHK no i meant like the areas to get to broken vessel or monarch wings might be unaccsessable without mantis claw. but ther emight be a possibility you could do it with tricky skips. just no shade sko because you need that to get over the spike pit. probablyh impossible without fireball. but maybe, just maybe
I kind of softlocked myself in steel soul. I was trying to do that skip where you pogo, dash, and c-dash to get ismas. I forgot I didn't have c-dash and I didn't want to save quit.

I'm wondering if there's a way to softlock yourself out of 112% completion.. maybe getting shade soul before fireball and thus not getting soul catcher
Actually, if you get shade Soul before fireball, then indeed you can't get soul catcher. The game gets confused because you have a "fireball ability" but you haven't killed the elder baldur in the Ancestral Mound. And so, the gate is closed and if you talk to the shaman, she acts like you're stuck inside the Mound and tells you to kill the beast. But you can't get inside because you're on the wrong side.
Hey fun fact you don’t have to fight brooding mawlek to get 6 masks in the beginning you can do a skip by getting the vengefly pogo in the goam room and all 5 grubs as well as buying sly’s 2 mask shards for 650 geo and that is six masks though you can do spike pogo skips and get to mawlek
Nah I was just rubbing my eyes. It was a lot more satisfying that way. But if you wanted rougher cuts would make it much more apparent whole keeping the aesthetic.
Dont forget that vanilla softlock if you enter the fluke room (the one you need Dive for) without wings. Found that one myself. You cant escape the room bdfore fluke marm. Maybe with flukes to pogo? But its difficult

on the revamped ab (i think) u can do a shade "skip" to kill a bug then get geo get your shade and die do it till u have enough money for buy stag then shade skip for the stag on the right but the stag then go to dirtmouth and the last one try to use that flying worms its hard without wings but i pretty sure its possible

You could make a video about the resting grounds stag. I found it strange that it was the only one to be opened by leaver, but it is actually a design choice to avoid a softlock
I wonder if it's possible to stallball out of the deepnest one after you run out of corpse creepers. I'm not super familiar with the geometry there and I don't know if you can get enough height, but that ledge on the left looks like it _may_ have the geometry for a stallball. I'm not sure whether it _would_ be possible if you could just get up that particular ledge either though.
For the abyss softlock, when climbing out of the abyss, could you not lore 1 or 2 siblings up there? Maybe it wouldn't be enough to get all the way up anyway but I'm just curious.
TH-cam recommending me this again out of nowhere and the abyss one looks just about escapable to me. Luring a sibling lets you get back to the door but the final spot to get out is looking tricky. Has anyone disproven this yet?

IIRC it's because Hornet locks your animation state including some menus

If you had to spend even 1 geo to buy it, you could end up in a softlock without any skips
Well, it was gated by iirc 30 geo in the past, but it was patched out to prevent softlocks.

so far a few people have come up with something that's theoretically possible, but no one has done it yet
all of these can be escaped by just using debug so they aren't softlocks

There's an insanely difficult way of leaving the Abyss with nothing but jumps and pogos, so softlock 4 is technically wrong
