This piece of art can be used in engineering schools to teach future engineers how complexity and lack of common sense kill functionality and cost. Just imagine how Leatherman could get the same functionality infinitely simpler if they decided to develop Crunch 2.0.

The maker bans and deleted records of anyone that criticizes the fact that he has lied multiple times. I'm still happy that he is delivering some tools and that's incredibly hard, but he lacks the honesty and values to make me want to support his business.

This multitool is designed for Mr. Bean as a Leatherman parody in the X-mas double episode.
With a Knipex Cobra 00 20 72 V04 set + a Victorinox Cybertool 41 OR Leatherman Wave & Bits outperforms this without any additional setup. Not to mention how scalable and redundant compared with the Union nonsense.

I received my tool very quickly! It actually arrived yesterday and my first impressions of it are positive. Mine has the same problem with the bit extender as yours but I watched a video that the founder\designer of the tool posted about three years ago, and he was answering questions about the tool. His was wobbly in the one end slot just like yours and mine. I also noticed by watching a review of the tool by somebody who ordered it direct and found out two things. First off, there is a third slot for the bits and extender near the back end of the knife. You have to separate the tool to access it. The extender does not wobble when inserted and I can see where the detent should go, but my extender will not go far enough in for it to snap in place. Also, there is supposed to be magnets at the base of the two other places for the bits but they are missing on mine, and apparently yours also. I am going to glue some button magnets in place inside of them today. The detent on the extender also appears to only be for the deeper bit connection near the knife blade I mentioned before and the ones on the bits are only for the spot where they are stored. A few other things to mention would be that this tool needs a sheath and while I found something to make due for now I am going to look for one. I also would give a lot of credit to the designer of the tool. It is not perfect, but it is not a copy, clone, or even a design that looks like it was inspired by other multitools. It is a completely original concept! Once again thank you for bringing this to our attention so I could add it to my collection!

Good review. I love the design as it is refreshing to see something different to the standardised folding plier format. Innovation like Toler have shown should be rewarded.
A large number of tools, & the abilty to store bits is a big plus for me, as is the ability to split the tool into 2 separates.
Too many operations to be a quick & convenient EDC MT used several times a day, but a great "secondary" MT to keep in your glove-box or on an E-Bike / Mountain bike as part of a breakdown kit.
I find this multitool simply fascinating from a design/ engineering point of view, and I will be buying one.

Wow really?! Nothing comes up when I search eBay. I just got mine last week after backing it 4 years ago. I did snag the wrench portion by itself awhile back for 20 bucks. I like mine, it’s not perfect, but I have no regrets.
The guy had a lot of set backs in manufacturing, but I don’t feel like he’s a liar. Just maybe not as good a business man as an engineer.

I just received my Toler today and after looking it over, I started disassembling it to remove the pocket clips. That’s when I found out that the small screws holding the black plates to the Omni wrench were mostly stripped. I found one of the pivot points almost completely backed out, and a few other screws that were just barely hanging on. I waited 2.5 years for mine, and really wish I had just purchased it off EBay like you. I’ll take it to work next week and see how it holds up, but I fully expect it to to just come apart in my hands. I’m going to contact the company and see what an be done about the QC.

@@hvacbudget8600 I think this tool would be a better fit for me if I could remove the blade. I carry a OTS spring assisted everyday anyway, but removing the blade and blade cover removes the backing for the bits. That’s unfortunate because it feels much better in the hand without the blade, and then the dual pocket clips would actually function (at least a little better)

I backed the original kickstarter. I'm used to kick starter delays so I know the experience but I've been apart of campaigns that where less than professionally run than the Toler project was run. He was constantly giving monthly updates all while COVID was going on which was good to see.
The tool itself is mid at best. My unit can seat the bits all the way in on its various hex bit ports BUT it still has plenty of wobble and slight play in its fitting. I don't have much confidence in the plier head. They aren't Leatherman quality but they are on par with a Chinese made Gerber unit which isn't saying much and who I do believe is OEM'ing these units. The awl is *incredibly* pointy and my wood saw was defective from factory with slightly ammount of melted flashing/slag between a few of the saw teeth.
Other than being a bit subpar I do believe in the product and am glad I bought it for my purposes. I keep it on my Bajaboard to remove tires because with its extension it allows me to apply just as much torque on the wheel nut as a full sized wrench. So it does the job I needed perfectly but as a general multitool, I do see where it falls short for most people.

I like the idea of this tool and i think it's really cool for what it's able to do, but I think it tries to do too many things at once without being good enough at any of them or convenient enough (heavy, doesn't deploy very quickly) to carry over other options. The appeal of a multitool is not that it does everything that you could possibly want it to, but that it does just enough and does it well enough that you don't have to run back to your toolbox looking for the right tool or give up because you don't have the right tool. Sometimes things aren't greater than the sum of their parts, and I think that if you can carry something this bulky, you might get better mileage buying small, dedicated versions of the individual tools and keeping them all together.

Certain things reach peak design and then don't change much because radical redisigns are awkward and overly complicated. I keep going back to my Leatherman rebar for that reason. This seems kinda cool actually- not knocking it, but I am probably too working class for this. I like tough, practical things, and I don't know about this one. Seems like it would end up in the draw and I would go back to the SAK knipex combo or the Leatherman. All those pieces, might as well carry an edc pouch. The tool is actually innovative. It is heavy, but it is a full size multitool. I hate poohoo reviews, especially when its obvious they reall did not understand the design. One of the interesting things about this multitool is its a platform that can accept modules. Thats a better solution than the new multitools that allow you to swap out individal implements. Heck, i dont know about you, but i would loose all those small parts. As far as Toler the co. goes, it has been an absolute fiasco with the indigogo thing.
