    ADAM!! Very cool that you are among the first to see this baby up close. I am guessing that you did not get to ride it yet... or did you? If so you MUST give us your impressions. I watched the reveal on a live stream from Americade and my gut reaction was favorable.
    I think the styling is very nice and well thought out. It's just the right balance between classic and modern. It is bigger than I thought it might be, but it still looks like it will be OK to manage. They were smart to keep the big trunk down low. The feature set speaks for itself and has everything a long distance rider could want for burning up the miles on the open road. The saddle looks incredibly comfortable, and I really like the touches they built in for the passenger. Fuel economy, though a little disappointing at first glance is not so bad when you consider that 210 miles is pretty much the minimum range one can achieve from a tank of fuel, so I am not going to complain!
    I am eager to go see and ride this bike as soon as it is available to do so. as a current Vision owner this is what we were all asking for from Polaris before those fools sold out and put their money on their version of Indian. I would take this new bike over the Roadmaster any day of the week. Well done, Yamaha!

    Great looking bike, and for the guys that like the big twin touring rigs this is another great choice. One of the features that many comfort and control seeking riders now seem to want is 'dynamic' suspension...(suspension that automatically adjusts to road conditions as you ride). I don't see any mention of that on this bike, which makes me wonder if Yamaha didn't think it important or desirable for some reason. Their FJ1300 hundred has it as an option, but no mention of it for this bike. I have to say I think at this price point it should have been included, or at least as an option. It wouldn't keep me from considering this bike however as it's that nice of a total package as is.

    Impressive bike. The old venture/royals were great bikes. My folks put a lot of trouble free miles on one and we still see a few around. I'm surprised by the weight and air cooling but I'm sure Yamaha has a vague idea what they are doing. Seems some form of water cooling is necessary to meet emission standards these days. I just wonder, at 25K, what residual value will be left after a couple years of riding?

    • @gabbyhayes1568
      @gabbyhayes1568 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good point. It's well known that Japanese bikes don't hold their value very well for some reason. Although a Wing is probably the exception to that rule.

  • @filthyanimal874
    @filthyanimal874 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That new aircooled V-twin engine is a big step backwards. They should've kept the liquid cooled naturally aspirated V-Four engine of yesteryear. The venture from back then was a fire breathing high performance touring beast that could kick any cars ass in a stoplight drag race. It shared the same engine with the mighty
    V-MAX.

    • @Byrds1967
      @Byrds1967 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air cooled puts off a lot of heat to the rider, liquid cooled doesn't. In California air cooled is fine as you can lane-split to keep air moving. In other states you'll have to swelter in stopped traffic.

    • @cesarflores8450
      @cesarflores8450 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      QuickScopes2009 Sit in Houston traffic on August afternoon and watch a few Harleys on the side of the road. For all the luxury items these not just HD bikes have I dont see how any bike more than 700lbs can not have a liquid cooled fan blown engine. Maybe up North or Alaska but the Gulf Coast heat and humidity is brutal on all vehicles. Best case scenario it wont stall from overheating but after 70k what kind of engine wear /damage will it have vs a liquid cooled motor same miles ?

    A little disappointed they didn't jam the V4 from the current generation V-Max in this bike, it doesn't make quite as much torque as this big twin, but I'm sure with some cam tweaks and a different exhaust they could have traded some top-end for more mid and low range torque. Then again, Harley did an amazing job smoothing out the new Milwaukee Eight for their touring line, so I imagine Yamaha can do at least as good of a job if not better.

  • @TOURMANBOB
    @TOURMANBOB 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Beautiful bike; it should sell well. But I have to wonder why it's still air cooled and time will tell if the drivers legs are cooked or not. Weight is no big deal; - my Wing loaded up weighs 1005 lbs (measured) yet handles like a bicycle at speed. Regardless, this one is a winner for sure. Whether it knocks the Wing or the BMW off their perches is quite another matter.

    People always talking trash about Harley Davidson but every bike builder build bikes to resemble Harleys Davidson's. I have owned 4 Harleys and never had one that leaked oil or broke down on me. l ride a 2014 Street Glide now and would put next to any Japanese bike any day. So comparing this bike to Harley is not in the same category.

    Indeed this bike is way too heavy...riders, even the experienced ones like me, will not favor this fact in the long run! I think some people should hold off on purchasing the 2018 model because despite the fact that it is a great looking bike, there is a lot of room for improvement and Yamaha will probably pickup on these enhancements in future models. One thing for sure, air-cooling is a drag!

    I bet when the yamaha executives saw the the Goldwing, they started smiling. Im think this venture will take the Goldwings place. Honda made the new Goldwing for motocyle jounalist, most of which were sport bike riders. Very few of them will be buying a wing, Honda just slipped. Thankfully Yamaha has taken the reigns and is providing us a bike that we actually want.

    just missing liquid cooling system so it could protect that engine in hot weather conditions. I didn't like the older 1294cc engines.

    Wait 2yrs and it will come out liquid cooled. If the are smart they should get the ball rolling on aftermarket parts fast it's the only thing keeping Harleys on top

    I like bikes but 430 kg of weight plus luggage is too much to handle when it flips from side stand on the curb of the road while you are taking a leak.Driving a small cabrio is the same or maybe even better.

    I like it. cant afford one... but I'd much rather see a striped down version. not wit all the Gps touch screen tech. dump the trunk pack and that be something to see.

    All I can say is wow!
    Certainly competes with Gold Wing. But IMO Harley Davidson will lose even more market share again. It's true innovations like this that make customers change brand loyalty.
    Now if Yamaha comes out with a bagger version of this new bike.
    Way to go Yamaha!

    HD doesn't have it any more.
