Fun fact: the writer of the original fairy tale of "The Little Mermaid" was bi, and he was crushing on a guy he knew, and wrote the book when his crush got married to someone else. If you didn't know the book was way different than the disney version. In the original the little mermaid kills herself because she couldn't make the prince fall in love with her. Which represented his heartbreak.

Yeah you can't trust google's first result because I actually read the entire book because I have it. That result that popped was a version for kids, because in the original the mermaid's name was never mentioned. I personally find it funny how you desperately searched on google to try and prove me wrong.

OOFERS OOF As POC we should be supporting the LGBTQ+ as they have faced discrimination as well. Neither cause is more important and both causes deserve more than what they are given. Stop trying to pin the two against each other when most people that are LGBTQ+ support BLM SAH and more anti racism movements. As POC we must do the same for them to truly be in support of ending discrimination and reaching true equality.

one of my favourite companies for pride is duolingo, they're always pretty supportive with the community but they double down during pride, better yet, during their lessons you'll sometimes get sentences like "her wife" etc (even after june) and additionally, duo (the owl mascot) uses either he/him or they/them (can't exactly remember) and is in a relationship with scrub daddy (the sponge) who also uses he/him I belive, they have biological children together.
They also have 3 canonically queer characters (as well as other unconfirmed ones), and when they post fanart they will show of art of queer ships and done by queer artists, as well as uplifted the voices of their lgbt employees and other queer creators/experts, they're really cool with how they go above and beyond for a language app

Oh wait... disney never even brings up Andi Mack anymore and the creators for toh and Gravity Falls had to literally *fight* to make these characters LGBTQ in which the Gravity Falls creator only managed to do it last episode with his series cut.
By the look of things, Dana had to put her foot down for Luz is be bisexual
The Gravity Falls character basically isn't directly shown. Owl House also had to fight for it to start but then got much more support later. Duck Tails had a little bit and said they'd like more later so I think by then they were benefiting from past things. It's getting there, but slowly and has a long way to go. Also most aren't direct and obvious. The one that was was Pixar's Out though that's not directly Disney. Progress is being made but yeah it has a ways to go and they are acting like it's further than it is.

As a teen gay who lives in the country, I still appreciate companies doing this because I very rarely see anyone like me around here. It would be nice if they incorporated their pride logos into their stores though, which at least here in Australia I've never seen. I also think that companies doing this helps older people see that we do exist and that we are something that's cared about enough and has a big enough community to make some money out of.

Owl House is doing a really good job with representation. It is one of the best Disney shows in recent times, but Disney+ will not have season 2 until the season is over. I will not say that Disney did a good job with it because they keep trying to screw over the creator Dana, and just riding the pride wave while they act as they have never been really homophobic.

Im from Venezuela, a country whose culture is kinda retrograde, and for us is a new thing to see companies or ig pages putting the rainbow as a profile pic. At the beginning of the month one of the most famous cookie brand (cocosette) included the gay flag on their packages’ logo. Being seen from outside it looks like doing the bare minimum, but just that colored palm trees made a whole conversation on social media, defending the lgbtiaq+ community and calling out homophobic people. So yeah it seemed dumb but actually made people care.
Wow. That's hmm.. my country doesn't really have laws here, it's kinda not that popular, we don't really celebrate pride of any of that here so yep!

Hi Frederic, just here to let you know that I’m my opinion Mulan is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly disney movies if not just one of the most LGBTQ+ movies without trying to be woke.
First off we have the bisexual/pansexual representation with Li Shang because even though he gets with mulan at the end after he finds out she’s a woman they develop feelings for each other while she is presenting as a man.
I’ll just group all of this together for the next point but we have (sorry if I upset anyone by putting these all together that’s not my intention I just felt it was important to include any I could think of but let me know if you think otherwise): transgender, non-binary, gender fluid, crossdressing and drag (I feel like there’s more but I can’t remember) representation with not only Mulan dressing as a man to help fight in the war but also when Mulan’s friends dress up as women to distract the guards.
On top of that we also get Asian culture in a movie which sadly isn’t very common in movies or tv shows outside of Asia itself.
Another fun little one is that Mulan’s dad is accepting even after finding out what she did which even though they didn’t touch on the presenting as a man thing I still think it’s nice and it should count.
That’s about it though with the LGBTQ+ Disney movies, although I did hear somewhere that goofy is gay but I don’t know how credible that source is. I know he had a wife but she’s gone and I don’t know where.
Please tell me if I got anything wrong or if you have anything to add.
while all this is true, i think the problem with mulan (and disney as a whole) when it comes to lgbt representation is that none of the stuff you mentioned is explicitly in the movie. it always feels like what little lgbt representation we get with disney is either pushed to the side or confirmed outside the actual media so they don’t lose money from homophobic audiences.

Tesco is also a British supermarket, so is Morrisons
