      As much as I wish this could be true, Oli has reached a large platform (FOX News) and is actually influencing a lot of people in the worst way. I'm thoroughly convinced everything Oli London does is for clout. It's so harmful that he has gotten away with racism and now transphobia because people like to make fun of him.

    • @mariapaz6379
      @mariapaz6379 ปีที่แล้ว +51

      very much yes. He feeds of any kind of attention someone might give him. He tried becoming jimin first, and it couldn't be any other korean man, it had to be one of the most recognizable members of the most popular boy band at the moment. Then when the attention started dying down, he begins some questionable comments about race, and then gender, and then he transitions to a trans woman, and that doesn't really give him the attention he wanted either. So he is now a transphobe and a conservative, because fox news loves these kinds of detrasiotion stories, and that means that someone once more, is giving him the attention he wants.
      To someone like that, all i can wish, is for them to fade in the background, slowly but surely becoming irrelevant.

I hate that people spin the Bible into whatever narrative they want to spread and cherry pick certain pieces then interpret them in the way that matches their views. It's always "Kids are being pressured into being transssss" but never the fact that kids are pressured into the binary gender rolls so hard that they don't think they have a choice but to be cishet. When I was a kid I was always told I was going to marry a man, have kids, and be a house wife. It took until I was 13-14 to realize I had a choice and that I don't have to do any of that. Then, it took me until I was around 17 to realize I'm actually trans and there was a reason trying to force myself to be a girl made me so unhappy.
    So yeah, stop forcing labels and gender rolls onto kids.

    • @unabashed

      There's am obvious agenda to confuse children about their gender during their formative years, and now they're trying to confuse very young children. For school administrators/counselors to ask 12-13 year old girls if they always feel comfortable in their female body, and if the answer is no, they get to "choose" something else is not only disingenuous, but it makes a mockery out of the struggle that actual trans people go through.
      I'd wager that the overwhelming majority of girls at that age have, at some point, or even all the time, have been made to feel uncomfortable in their female bodies, through body shaming, pressure to stay within weight limits, being over-developed at an early age, or bring molested and rendered shameful about their body because of the trauma they endured. Being uncomfortable in your body doesn't automatically mean you're trans, yet this is what is being disseminated to the masses of children. It's a lie.
      I'm a Gen Xer in NYC, we grew up knowing and seeing real trans people (and I'm grateful to have grown up in a place where queer culture was visible). They weren't common, and they didn't get to "choose." They were born that way.
      As a tomboy who was mistaken for a boy during my formative years, I'd automatically be convinced I was trans if I was in Gen Z, meanwhile I was born a girl, and born in the right body, albeit, made to feel uncomfortable about it through societal norms. I, like all of my peers who went through similar experiences, got through it, and didn't make a mockery of trans people in the process.
      If you don't see this agenda that's been in full force for the past 7 years, you're either in denial or asleep at the wheel.

    Being 18 now and having transgender people in my life since middle school, I never had the pressure of questioning my gender. And sure, I’ve had moments considering if I’m dealing with that, but developed being more in-tune with myself and understanding my feminine side and being happy and okay that I’m a female since birth. What you were explaining around 11:20 was 100% correct. You explained it in a good way, imo (coming from a trans person). Of course, other trans folks may have their own opinion or feelings regarding how you explained it, but I'd personally like to thank you for bringing this up. It's so important for people to understand that surgeries, hormones, etc. aren't necessary to be trans.
    As someone who's trans but hasn't gotten any surgeries (still not sure if I want to... I'm not against the idea, it's just a bit scary and will cost a lot), hasn't had any form of hormone treatment... hell, hasn't even done vocal training exercises, I'm still trans. I am who I am, nothing will change who I am. I have my reasons for these things, other trans people don't, that's ok.

I’ve had a lot of instances where I see transmasc men depicted in art that look very much like me (hairy, fuller, not perky chests, etc) and it’s left me astonished because a lot of it has to do with European standards of beauty. Feeling comfortable in your own skin is hard, but a lot of that journey is actually just ignoring the outside world and whatever they say. (Speaking as a Latinx gender-nonconforming person). My daughter has tiktok and she's 12, but she and I have very deep conversations about things that she sees. She went through a short phase of trying to collect labels. Mental health, gender, sexuality and we've had a lot of conversations about how societal labels are in place to cause separation and while sometimes they help us understand ourselves more often they cause nothing but division, about how she's not going to know who she is as a person until she's pushing 30 and there's no rush to figure it out. They make 18 seem so impending now a days too. Being a child is about having fun, learning and exploring yourself and the world around you. I do feel bad about kids who don't have anyone to have these conversations with though.

      High five for such awesome parenting-labels can be helpful and super toxic at the same time! All situations are nuanced and it’s up to people to have more informed, sympathetic and open conversations.

    Oli London always states that they hated themself and how they looked and got surgery. This sounds like low self esteem, body dysmorphia, rather than being trans or a trans woman. The surgery can also be a form of self harm due to their low self esteem. There seem to be A LOT of underlying mental health issues they are dealing with that have NOT been addressed appropriately.

    13:00 omg soo glad you said this. I feel like people still even fail to see that not even a lot of cis gendered women have “typical build/ characteristics of a woman”. Some women have deeper voices, a stronger build, a smaller chest, smaller, backside, etc. And the same goes for males who don’t have all of the “typical build/characteristics of a male”. I feel like the minute everyone realizes that there is no “typical build” or characteristic to a gender and/or race (meaning people who identify as and who ACTUALLY ARE a race but aren’t “claimed by the community” due to “typical appearances”. Ex. A black person not being claimed by the community because they are too light skinned) and that it’s just messed up society standards, we can love ourselves and each other more. ❤

    I hate the 'think about the children' argument because SOME OF THOSE CHILDREN ARE QUEER AND WILL ALWAYS BE QUEER. Educating kids on the terrifying and existential reality of the vastness of lived human experience is just one tool for people to figure themselves out. Our brains and bodies are like personalized puzzle boxes. No two are alike and it's up to our spirits to solve them, and that takes a lot of introspection that can be terrifying. For those people who are scared of looking inward, it's also like they can't imagine being anyone except themselves, and that the thought of questioning their own actions for one damn second is the most disgusting thing they could do. Ugh. I got off topic, sorry. I just really hate 'think about the children'.
    Also, I was born in 1990 - I'm AFAB, Cis, queer and YES I also did have some gender dysphoria growing up, especially during puberty but even in elementary school, like freaking 1998!!!! There was no 'woke SJW' media influencing me back then, but there WAS weekly Sunday school influencing me to hate myself for having those feelings and slowing down my self-discovery and self-acceptance It was only later in the 2010's that I became informed enough to understand and name what I was feeling back then. If I knew more about the topic as a child, I may not have felt so damn mixed up if society had given me permission to just be me.

The only times I’ve been harassed is when I’ve been hanging out with my queer friends :/

AND THEN thats when u go either m.i.a, or they’re the nobody they deserve to be. this is the classic formula for an internet reactionary. but also in some instances, (like trisha paytas or danielle brigohli) a few years later people forgive them/ think they’ve changed just cause they’re not being a troll

    My school literally never pressured me into being trans, there were a few trans guys and a trans woman substitute teacher that unfortunately many students made fun of because some people still think it's fine to be transphobic. Not sure what high schoolers are like now though, hopefully it's improved.
    Anyways, I figured out who I was during the pandemic at the age of 21. For years before that I struggled with who I was, I hated the thought of being a woman and being in hetero relationship. I hated everything about being a woman even if I was fond of cute things. My name, being referred to as a woman, being treated like one, living my life as one felt like a curse and I wanted to and still do wish I could chuck my uterus and my boobs out of me.
    Figuring it out was a breath of fresh air to me. Transition is an unfortunately long process and I've barely started taking testosterone but it makes me happy that I can be a man and change my body to fit that. It does however anger me and scare me that people like Oli London feel the need to hurt our community and our rights just because he craves attention.

  • @ArturGlass.C
    @ArturGlass.C ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Speaking of the pressure to be passing. I agree to that on such a deep level. I'm ftm and am on HRT due to my gender dysphoria. I've wanted to be on testosterone for a lot of things so this hasn't really affected my decision but I used to love my voice. I always did. I've always had dysphoria about many things but not my voice because for me there's no "feminine" or "masculine" voice I don't see it gendered. I started getting massive dysphoria on my voice and it hurried my decision and the urgency for me to get on T. I wanted my voice to change because I needed it to pass not because it fits my gender identity, not because I wanted it. I've had to sacrifice my voice and it was a big deal to me. I don't regret that decision but society making me feel like I needed it made me rush that decision. And it sucks. Because I still don't understand it. Now people do see me as male so yay but it sucks that I had to be pushed to that point.

    I have to be honest, I agree that children should be children without being confused or pulled in different directions on who they are. But I also believe in normalising trans, queer, non binary relationships and genders from a young age, if that makes sense?
    I know now that I'm bisexual/pansexual, I've known it for all of 3-4 years out of my 36 yrs of life. But I wish it had been normalised when I was a kid, because I might have figured it out for myself a hell of a lot sooner. Rather than doing a lot of soul searching beforehand and realising I had a crush on a girl I went to girl guides (the British version of girl scouts) with when I was 14!! Needless to say, now I am secure in my sensuality and my friends, family, and future husband is accepting of it too.
