WOW, this is blowing up! Just an FYI, I cut out the part about the website, as it seems like the two projects aren't related. That's my bad, and thank you to everybody who pointed that out! And thank you for all of the love on this video! Also if it really is Danny, well then, damn
I personally think the songs are full of... too many buzzwords really? It's like if you skinned Ayesha Erotica, put her over the skeleton of a Furby, and then taught it its first words "I'm just a girl 🥺." I dunno. It feels really weird and corporate and "hello fellow tiktok users and women"
@@TwisterTornado I don't think it's cool, but I have a playlist full of hyperpop songs from artists like Ayesha. They just sound good lol, I don't really pay close attention to the lyrics. I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way.
the thing about ai songs is that you can easily find the sourse of it, the girly pop productions is like a mix of Ayesha Erotica and Charli xcx, what i mean is that if you find an ai song good, just find a similar artist to listen to. i refuse to surrender to ai, i want music made by PEOPLE.
YES, COULDN'T AGREE MORE. There's always similar artists because ai does not make anything original and was probably stealing from those similar artists to begin with. Human artists will always make better art than any "art" ai can shit out.
i do will like the existence of ai songs for that i can listen to similar songs to the songs i like, that actually sound similar and can have a big amount of it. same to other things too, i like the existence of ai for things that are less popular that there are not enough people to make content about some overly specific things. ofc only a good amount of it, ofc if the world is only flooded with ai content it would be bad.
Picture this- a big business girlboss in a high ranking position within the label out to get the Chippettes (and threatening the Chipmunks to kick off the plot for an insanely mid yet iconic movie) clad in a glittery pink blazer
When it was affecting digital artists, it wasn't taken as seriously. Now that its affecting billionaires, there are lawsuits. I'm just as overjoyed about the downfall of AI as the next person, but this seriously should have been a concern from the very begining. AI is no good for humanity
Especially the Bajan Billionaire herself, Rihanna who hasn’t released music since 2016 (she isn’t being affected by this, because Fenty Beauty made her a Billionaire and that is why I wrote this)
Eh, there can be some good uses of AI (etc in healthcare). The issue is more that some people are so obsessed with the idea of AI doing ✨everything✨ that they fail to ask the questions even psychologists have to ask themselves before doing social experiments "Is what we're doing going to have a net positive change?"
Honestly it's really scary how so many people will be against AI until it's something they like or can benefit from. There's been plenty of time I've seen people I know be openly anti-AI until they find an art piece they like, or a song they enjoy, or something that can help them write an essay or speech or anything. Then they'll say "this is the only acceptable one" ignoring that a large majority of AI output systems are made by scraping huge amounts of data unconsensually. It's gonna be awhile until we can see AI that is actually ethical and isn't using the power of an entire country or depleting natural resources or harming creative fields.
@@isle-unto-thyself Yes! The amount of youtubers i’ve seen who make all these anti-AI videos and then go ahead and accept a sponsor from an AI company like….my brother in christ….
I'm getting my degree in new media and I swear there is AI that is ethical, AI art even, but it's buried under the billions of more mainstream, unethical AI art :/ I consider that an artist capable of coding their own AI trained on their own data is ethical if that wasn't clear, and artists who do that usually don't use the AI to produce art for them, their AI is like paint to a painter
It’s funny bad, but it’s not catchy to me. The melody is way too basic and not hooky enough to tickle my brain, and calling this hyper-pop and not just straight pop is completely inane.
That’s how I feel about it too and the voice to me is screaming AI. I did see one comment here that said they thought it was intentional and as a result didn’t think it was AI but since I’d heard AI “music” before I knew it was suspicious
@@SirArthurTheGreat James Brown and Michael Jackson would say that the song has no umph and that’s what the problem is. That’s why I think the song is so bad it was terrible. I was like what is this hell that is being graced upon my ears at this very moment I’ve heard AI songs before this is not one of them most of the ones are instrumental the ones with lyrics are usually pretty stupid unless it’s being done for a joke like someone made a KFC gospel song that shit was hilarious
I find the song to be utter trash from a melodic, rythmic, and lyrical perspective. However, as a shitpost, it's stellar. I don't think that's anything new for generative AI.
It's interesting because the first exposure I had to what might now be called AI was Tumblr's shitpostbot and you saying this really made me realize that most of what AI has done is get better at shitposting
So Nicki Minaj basically signed a petition against AI in music, yet she had no qualms about using AI images for her album? That's so weird because if she was a graphic designer instead of a rapper, her career would be just as affected...
This. It irks me to no end. Not the Nicki Minaj in particular, but the fact that all creatives, musicians, visual artists, writers, or whatever else, are in the same drowning boat but it seems that most of them fail to realize it.
she only cares because her content is being stolen from. she doesn't give a damn about small artists who's art is being stolen, because she makes money off of it.
Something also rubs me the wrong way about the fact that this is very obviously & blatantly grown men who are trying to profit off of this aesthetic that is literally "for the girls". If a real woman sang about any of this, you'd have to believe some of it is genuine & true to her experience, or at the very least she's aware of the parody she's making of herself. These guys don't have that nuance at all, in the hands of a real girl it's funny and self-aware and raunchy, but in the hands of two guys pretending (and probably training this song off of real women artists, at that), it almost feels misogynistic & mean spirited to me. I already don't like "Just a girl" music or culture on the internet, but at least it's still made BY women poking fun at themselves, at the end of the day. This just isn't it.
@@rosecatuwu OKAY THIS thank you so much, part me of me really wanted to rant and rave about that EXACT thing but it got a bit too long so i’m glad somebody said it. Your last point is dead on, i feel the exact same way. That’s gotta be part of the upset feeling in my stomach
Exactly this! Not only with this project but I was thinking a similar thought about some of the AI/cgi influencers that were popping up. Most of them being young women that are created and controlled by boards of men. Ewwwww.
Ai music and tik tok is a devestating combination. An app full of people that change trending audios every single day and tool that can massively produce music. Its so over😊
the sad thing is that before ai generation hit this point, tiktok and small musical artists was a great combo. so many people were exposed to such niche artists and it jump-started a lot of careers. but applying that dynamic to artificially generated music being peddled for cash by these creatively and morally bankrupt posers is so fkd. automation and ai should be used to fill in the gaps of menial tasks no one wants, or to complete tasks that humans cannot do. it should not capitalize maliciously on an industry built on the backs of artists that wanted nothing more than to create and have their art heard by the world. this industry would have never existed without those creatives, and to try to infringe and capitalize on their most cherished art form AND facilitate it by STEALING their art is repulsive and anti-human. i hope the cases brought up in this video facilitate some progress in securing creatives’ rights, and real legislation for responsible and ethical ai.
@@ferntheinklingi dont think tiktok ever actually ruined songs. people who said might have just been the type that found tiktok as a whole to be cringe or terrible, or were just gatekeeping the music and acting elitist that they knew certain songs before it got popular. it's basically another version of the folks who thought they looked cool for acting like they were better than others for knowing artists or songs way before they started playing on the radio.
@@sleepy.timaeus.arts. idk man. The thing that ruins songs for me is hearing them played over and over, which is exactly what TikTok does. I was mostly making a joke tho, don’t take it too seriously
The lyrics to 10 Drunk Cigarettes are actually hilarious to me. Every time you think it’s gonna be something new it’s more lines of coke. That’s what AI does best in my opinion, shitposting.
I appreciate your video. Something that seems to get glossed over a lot is that awkward feeling of liking something and then finding out it was AI generated. The frustration. The guilt. The desire to rationalize it. It's complicated because we used to just be able to appreciate whatever we wanted. But, now, it feels like we have to vet everything before-hand to check and make sure it isn't "tainted." Anything I want to share with others, I feel like I have to personally trace back to its origin to prove it was created by a human. There are many sites I struggle to navigate without being bombarded by AI generated pieces. Even if the site claims to have an anti-AI stance. It's disheartening. It steals the joy of discovering something new because you can't just appreciate it for what it is. There's always this voice that says, "What if it's AI generated? You'd be a terrible person if you liked something created from theft." Every new piece of art or music or writing becomes guilty until proven innocent.
maybe stop caring about it? lol just like whatever the heck you wanna like, nobody is going to judge you aside from random ‘creators’ who claim AI is stealing their work (guess what, nobody is stealing their work!). AI needs high quality content to function properly, and it needs a lot of it. There’s no possible way of curating and filtering the content millions of people post online every day. And if you worry about them stealing Billie Eilish’s art and the work of the other Hollywood millionaires (or billionaires, since as of lately more and more ‘artists’ are becoming billionaires), maybe you should stop caring about all these dirty-rich people with fortunes large enough to last for generations. Defending billionaires against AI while you are a paycheck away from being homeless is kinda pathetic (I’m not calling you broke, don’t take it personally please)
I don't know if it's on purpose but ending the video by saying "I'm gonna listen to a relaxing piano playlist on spotify" is hilarious after Spotify's been all-but-confirmed to have been putting ai music with randomly generated titles and author names in their instrumental playlist to not have to pay a cut to actual artists 😭😭
I don’t mind ai when it’s used for something like autotune or spellcheck, but if it’s not detecting errors or answering a question, than it makes me feel really gross. When it genuinely creates something, I kind of feel sick and scared. I shouldn’t be used to write stories or make music or do any kind of art. Art is art because there is a human element to it. I can’t connect to it if there’s nothing to connect to. I didn’t mind the AI when it was just like reading Tumblr posts in song form, but now that it’s copying celebrities voices and people are posting covers people never actually did or entire ai songs, that. There are definitely some uses of AI that I understand, but there needs to be a line and we are definitely crossing that line now and I’m scared about how much worse it might get.
Very true. "In the future entertainment will be randomly generated." Writing well thought out jokes requires a level of sophistication I don't think ai will have for a long time, so this kind of hashtag-random humour is all it's got
I listened to the whole Demure album without knowing it was AI, I kind if just assumed it was intentionally Like That?? If that makes sense? Like I understood that a lot of the lines weren't actually very good, and a lot of the songs felt repetitive, but I figured it was just. there. more fit fir the vibe I suppose, being kinda sloppy and Odd but like in a fun pink glittery way ykwim. And now I feel so bad because I really liked it, I thought it was so fun 😭
The song literally has the same voice as the generic AI female singer voice. Like, go on any AI music generator and just ask for female vocals and not even describe them, you'll bet that exact voice
Yeah, to me, it was obvious. If it was actually a real person, you'd hear breathing between lines, and it wouldn't sound so.. fake. Not hyperpop, autotune fake, where there's still going to be variations in the tone of voice. Fake.
The problems I have with AI are the problems I have with capitalism. Theft of intellectual property is more impactful in a world where that means stealing money from someone, and a world where money is needed for food and medicine and shelter. Every time someone complains about AI (unless it's bad content which it usually is), I hear that it's because they didn't have to work for it but if we didn't have to monetize our work, that wouldn't really be an issue. It's the same thing I feel about like how copyright works. Obviously things like bragging rights and reputation and authenticity are important as well, but we wouldn't be as incentivized to lie about our ownership of something if we weren't stealing for money and instead just building off other people's art in a community
exactly 💯. and when you think about it, who wouldn't prefer to be celebrated and well known for work they actually made rather than just getting rich off something they stole? if money wasn't their biggest goal to focus on anymore maybe they'd have to admit that's not truly what they'd prefer.
Exactly, technology and progress are not inherently bad, but when you have horrible tech monopolies using it, and creating tools that are exploitative in nature it's like well hows this new thing going to be used to exploit me in a new way
The biggest problem with AI generated music for me, I listen to so many interesting artists on a day to day basis that these songs will never get stuck in my head for long while a real genuine song will stay in my library for years and will get regular listens.
i think the marketing of 10 drunk cigarettes was really smart, girlygirlproductions shared it themselves with a video of a phone playing the lyric video with a caption along the lines of "my mom caught my little sister listening to this wtf " and people shared that, it's a great song I just wish it wasnt AI generated, hopefully the style inspires more artists to make songs like that
@@travescharic Talahon is basically the name for a stereotype that refers to immigrants (not exclusively but mostly) acting like wannabe gangsters. So yea it is kinda racist…
@@travescharic I haven't listened to the song myself, which is why I said potentially, just as a disclaimer- but Talahon is a word that mostly refers to immigrants in a demeaning way. If you live in germany you know there's a lot of racism against immigrants going on right now (and has been for years), and so while the word is not exclusively used for a racist purpose, the chance of it being that are pretty high.
Im like 99% sure danny Gonzales made the song as a social experiment, he even posted about it on his fox szn tiktok account, he does these things all the time, so it wouldnt be surprising he did lol
I don't understand how people can't hear the clearly AI rasp in the back of the voice? Like every AI song with vocals has that weird.. rasp. Go to (I think) Sora AI and generate literally any vocals for some random popular genre, and you'll hear it clear as day. It scares me to NO end that other people can't immediately tell based on literally the first line or two 😭
Why are we not talking about the OD chorus over there? 13 lines of coke and the song is not over? This robot has either never done drugs or has done too much
Theres a lot to think here. My view on AI is constantly changing. I personally think that AI doesnt really belong in the artistic world however i can be tolerant of it with minimal use. I can see it being a neat tool if it could make changes to a demo to help the artist see what else they could add or even just inspire them for new music. The fact that a machine can produce a full album is scary. The true art of sound could be at risk if like Wanerbros just said “cut everyone’s contracts we are just going to turn out TikTok hits with my MacBook Air and a cigarette”
Something about 4 guys churning out albums full of (self-destructive) 'girly girl' music... I've heard this song once so far and never would of guessed it's AI. Its so scary and annoying, having to look twice at the art you consume less you feed into the system that's working to destroy you 😔. Also, it kind of reminds me of 'Girl Anachronism' in a diff font. (Okay maybe not. I just heard self-destructive lyrics and was like 'yep, these are def similar')
Not to mention whoever runs the girly girl productions TikTok account is super rude, especially to anti-AI people. Shouldn’t really be surprised since they’re AI bros making songs about addiction targeting teenage girls, but still.
learning this song is ai actually made me a little sick tbh… i considered myself pretty good at picking out what’s made by real people and not (i’ve been hunting down ai art on pinterest to report for months) and i had absolutely no idea about this. it’s terrifying that not only is this almost indistinguishable from (albeit poor) human effort, but it’s fun enough to have gotten stuck in my head as well. eugh.
@@枒 i figured it was just a voice effect. you could say that charlixcx's music sounds just as robotic, and she's one of the most popular artists in the world right now.
This song sucks. Sure, it's catchy, but there's dozens of other songs with a similar melody and sound. And the overuse of the word "coke" is SO damn annoying to me. It absolutely sucks from a lyrical standpoint, too. Wtf is a "drunk cigarette"? It's just another cringe ABCDEFU/Twinkle Twinkle Little B*tch song with the creators being like "oh, let's take something for kids and add ADULT THINGS!!! So cool!!!" But it doesn't even make sense with the subject matter it's based off. Barbie LIKES Ken. The concept of her randomly deciding to be anti-boyfriend makes no sense for her character or story. (And she is definitely already rich if she could afford to go to college for all of those degrees lmao.) If this is what we're worried about, I'm not concerned. This garbage will never beat human creativity.
a drunk cigarette is referring to the fact that many people who have never regularly smoked (or had previously quit) will smoke when drunk. people will call it a drunk cigarette as a qualifier that smoking is not typical behavior for them. the song didn't invent that phrase, its been around for a while.
@@nekogirl2009 Ah, alr!! But that makes it even worse imo- the phrase "ten drunk cigarettes" then almost sounds like an in-denial statement that they regularly smoke. But the song is like "we're going to party and live it up wooo" so those two things don't really connect in the slightest
@@cybergutz I know it's not serious?? I was just giving my opinions on the song from a musical point of view... since that's what the entire video is literally about lmao
Omg I was gonna say that 😭 Like that's the ABCDEFU level of bad writing. Edit: it's just now mentioned in the vid as well. We as a human race gotta have to be smarter not just with the a.i stuffs, but also with making sure that no lazily written tiktok songs get viral.
you should try putting a thin sock over your phone while you record, it might help soften any harsh sounds you make while talking (p/t/k sounds, sighs, etc)
THANK GOD. I heard the audio in one clip and I was so confused because it felt like soemthing was missing. The way the words come together makes it feel like everything AI sounded like before.
i had no idea this song was AI tbh, I haven't really put much thought into it and just listened to the part that's going viral on tiktok but knowing it passed over me is a bit scary, and how it's only going to get worse another thing I find interesting about it being AI is a part of me liked that song for the creative decisions, like the subverted expectations and repetitions on the list, like this makes this song funny and even a bit clever, thinking about the human behind that song is what made me like it! and thinking about it as AI instead make this suddenly feel really empty
recently an artist i used to really enjoy (the voidz) released an album with an ai generated album cover, and like. i kinda really enjoy one song or two and it's really sad. because one they start to become comfortable with the ai cover they might as well try ai lyrics and so on
FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT as a person who hopes to compose for a LIVING this AI music is really scary to me I’m really glad someone isn’t just shooting my opinion that AI is not the greatest thing ever down Thank you for saying this
I was just talking to my sister about this song last night 😭 we were cracking up over it I didn’t even think about how weird it is that I’m jamming out to an ai song Also Girly Girl Productions being run by a bunch of men is… exactly what I expected
I love hyperpop and got a song by this “Artist”. Listened to about 30~ secs and could immediately tell it was AI. I just hate people who attempt to create a career off of decades of other people’s hard work. Still doesn’t make AI less scary. Everything beautiful and creative about the human existence is being replaced by soulless slop, leaving us as a species to pick up the grueling labor that AI was “supposed” to do for us. Plus it’s not good for the environment, and I dunno about you but I like having a living planet
my guess is that it's just splice loops with silly lyrics maybe written partially by ai and done with one of those first-take to finished changed voice ai generators
I totally get the uneasy feeling with AI music (and art in general) the idea that you could be watching, listening and enjoying something thats not "real" is pretty existential. I'm an artist but the last few months i've often sat down to draw and just become completetly depressed thinking about it and feeling like the skills i've spent most of my life building have become "worthless" and I imagine a lot of muscians feel similar. However, when I see stuff like this song or like joke ai pictures it's actually pretty comforting? Like as funny as it is I can't have any kind of real connection with it in the way human made music and art does and I don't think thats something that will change however "good" it becomes. And if it does make a genuine connection it's likely just a direct copy of something else (if an AI song sounded exactly like the beatles for example, I would just switch to listening to the real thing). Not to mention the main problem with AI being to do with labour/worker's rights etc not "what is real art" questions that can never be answered.
The voices sound like they belong on Kidz Bop. I think if it was a woman who sang it with her own voice on purpose I'd be more okay with it. These are grown men using voices that sound like they're little girls to make them sing about doing drugs and golddigging. It's not funny anymore when I think about it for more than three seconds.
@@oneminuteoff not at all! Music is an art and form of expression that comes from a/the soul that we relate to in our happiest of times and darkest of moments. AI will never be able to relate to the emotions of human beings and our life experiences.
I love this album (except demure). Its one of the funniest things I've heard in awhile and it was very obviously lab-grown to get stuck in your head. It kind of kills it for me to know its just four guys asking their computer to copy a huge library of pop music to make it. It is still funny, but much less when it feels like there wasn't intent behind it. In the sense that poetry is most meaningful. to me, as an art form because each word is carefully chosen to use the correct tone to convey the desired effect on the reader. Part of why that is so impressive to me is that someone sat there and crafted it. To leave it all up to a computer copying-and-pasting aspects of other songs without understanding why or how it works to convey a certain effect robs it of some merit for me. It does make me want to start writing campy ass songs like this without AI and release it, specifically marketing myself as a real girly girl that doesn't steal from other artists (though I may have to do a twirl in a song or two). It reminded me that art does not have to be "serious" which I all-too-often convince myself of when I write music. But its incredibly scary to fight what feels like a losing battle. Its giving Carole and Tuesday, to be so honest. That show feels extremely relevant in these discussions. There is something inherently more effective to me about music when it is created by a person, whose tool kit was created organically or through rigorous study, practice, and dedication, not just copying directly from other people. At least with humanity there, even copying is imperfect and creates something still slightly changed by the copier. Idk if this makes any kind of sense, but those are some of my thoughts. Really interesting video. Thank you for giving me the chance and space to think about this a little bit more. I'm happy to have seen this in my recommended and congrats on the video picking up some traction :) its very deserved
omfg i remember seeing this song on a tiktok because someone's little sister (under 10yo) was watching it, and i INSTANTLY hated it, i didnt even know it was AI... now i hate it more lol
As an artist.. trash pop was basically just human ai generation if that makes sense. The reason these songs are so catchy is because they are made to be similar, with a HUGE amount of songs having the same kick snare pattern and a large majority sharing the same song structure and melody structure. The only creativity/distinction is found the lyrics because that's all that the average person listens to. But the really cool thing is that ai will never be able to innovate music. it could make cool stuff theoretically, but bending the rules while knowing what actually sounds good is a human only thing (which is reaaaally the only part of music i care about. the weird stuff that sounds cool.)
Aw, man! I thought they were just a brilliant parody artist!! My brother and I make fun of 10 drunk cigarettes all the time. Unfortunately we forgot that's the name of the song and we generally refer to it as "Thirteen Lines of Coke". Which is both far more accurate AND a much funnier name for the song.
Before Girly Girl Productions there was Sugarplxm and they made Ai music using Melanie Martinez voice and basing them on her interludes and unreleased songs. I can't lie, i used to listen to them but now i'm not sure what to think of it. Ai is growing way to fast and it's starting to scare me.
They did post a TikTok showing that only the vocals are AI, the sounds are made themselves and they throw in some splice loops. I also just think people just hate fun lol and are taking them way too seriously 😂
This reminds me of press surrounding Kraftwerk in the 70s. They were the first well known band that was fully electronic and they purposely evoked the paranoia surrounding that by creating robot alter egos.
I've been recommended some AI remakes of songs by my favorite artist and... they're really good. I could totally imagine them being huge hits if released by popular artists, but then I remember that that's because they've stolen from popular artists. It did kinda give me a crisis cause I felt guilty listening to it and scared that producers might start to secretly use AI, but like.. it's good.
Hey Abby! Definitely agree with the conversation about AI being used in music being a slippery slope. Maybe I should make a video essay, but I just wanted to input, I don’t think it’s accurate to say GirlyGirlProductions is fully AI-generated as you might think. Not that I think that takes away from the message of your video. But like how AI-art has flaws, I’d say we’re at least still at a state where it definitely still takes human input to make AI-generated songs sound good. For example, on their TikTok 08/23 they show a video showing one of the song in a music production software (DAW) showing all the individual stems from each instrument. This means, it’s not someone putting a prompt and whole song being popped out, instead it means someone is listening to samples of each instrument, and still having to construct it together to put a song. Which is not that out of the norm in the industry, like how a chunk of Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter is made from putting together two Splice Samples. So it definitely seems the person running it is a music producer. Furthermore, I’d argue, I don’t think the stems are AI generated as it would be more work to use AI to create a sample library full of mostly slop versus a professional sample library. So I think it’s safe to say the instrumental is not AI. And it can be quickly produced because it’s mostly good samples that exist and sound good, and if they’re samples, explains how it’s easy for a single person or small team to pump those out with some music production. I also think the lyrics are not AI generated, or has to at least be edited by a human. I don’t think there’s text LLMs that’s good about syllables, or smart enough to make a melody with a human made instrumental. I don’t really have proof of this claim, other than my gut intuition of the writing. So I think at most for their songs, I think only the vocals are AI. It’s probably like Glorb (who makes rap songs singing like characters from SpongeBob) where it’s a person singing and then it’s dubbed by an AI as I see that being the easiest. (As a side-note, I think it’s an effect that can be achieved without AI, like how vocaloids like Hatsune Miku work.) So overall, I think it’s mostly a human generated song where the vocals are dubbed by AI. Depending on your tolerance that can still be iffy. However I will qualify, that using AI is like plagiarism, if you see it one-spot can’t be 100% sure it’s extent and involvement in any step of the music process. And then do good sounding AI-prompted generated songs exist. Yes, as you’ve mentioned Sonus. Or even like BBL Drizzy was sampled from an AI song made by Marcus Willonius. But if it’s any consolation I think can feel a little less guilty the reason Girly Girls Productions is fun to listen to and made it out compared to most AI garbage generated, is because it is mostly made by humans and is just portraying it as AI for the branding and humor. It’s kind of like that picture of the duck that won that AI image contest except in this case some AI was used here. But it’s to the extent you hear 360 by CharlieXCX being voice by Lois Griffin or something on TikTok. The songs creation is still human. I think AI being used for voice dubs is still bad for voice actors, safety reasons, ect. But I think more people for whatever reason are more tolerant and less scared of it’s use in that context. 9/26 EDIT/UPDATE: I tracked down the 8/23 tiktok from the screenshot I had - yeah they pay for Splice and use Logic so instrumentals are human. I think the natural conversation, is how people feel about this being used widespread in the broader music industry. Ethics of music production like can there be a ethical way of doing this, like if I have a friend sing and dub it to my own voice likeness. The song is fun and seems like shitposting, but it’s kind of scary how this is not that far off from potentially being kind of marketing/corporate/content mill/girlfishing. I’m coining girlfishing, like how there’s blackfishing/catfishing/queerbaiting. But that’s kind of how the music industry works rn for money already, so idk.
Can I just say: I guess it’s not bad to like AI music. However, I feel like people are not giving independent music a chance because there is SO much out there that you shouldn’t resort to AI music. For everyone saying “music sucks now”, I promise there are plenty of independent acts local to your area that want you to give them a chance. I guess my point is if you haven’t spent time trying to know your local music first, I would start their before support by AI music. But maybe that’s me being a stick-in-the-mud.
agreeee. i dont rlly have a problem with poeple liking ai music. it's not a crime to enjoy something even if it was made with ai. (though i dont think thiis case is a good example of that 😭 but people have dif tastes) not even just local scene, there are sooo many good musicans and artist that exsit out there in the world. it's similar to the critcism people give pop music. "well these songs on the radoi are bad so ig all music today is trash" like no. ur rlly not looking hard enough, like at all. good (while subjective) music still exists. like just put some random playlist on youtube or spotify. click on that random song that has 10k views or that super niche band no one has heard of that youtuve randomly recommened. that's how ive come across so many of my current faves. . you are bound to come across AT LEAST a few songs -> the musican -> similar ones and find someone you like :D
I’m super conflicted too. As an artist and animator, I’ve already run into issues with AI literally stealing jobs away. I have been PERSONALLY affected negatively by AI art being used. I think AI can be used ethically by creators as long as it’s not major companies stealing wage from underpaid employees and it’s being used in a way that takes obvious effort on behalf of the creator. For example, BOIWHAT does fun original songs using voice AI but he’s clearly still writing it and using the AI over his own voice, to sound more like the characters he’s using. He’s doing all the work but using AI to further the fan music. (I also don’t think this takes work from the voice actors cuz I highly doubt Tom Kenny would have the time or maybe even desire to sing a fan made country song in spongebobs voice.) However, there’s no way of knowing the effort that was human labor for 10 drunk cigarettes. Like the voice is definitely AI, the lyrics definitely could be AI, but how deep does it go. Is the beat AI? How long does the production for a song like this take using all AI? How much effort went into making it funny or was it all just an after thought? I don’t know enough about AI or song production to know the answers and it makes me feel a little gross enjoying it as much as I do.
Personally, I don't mind AI. It's clearly the usage and training that's the problem. Major issues with it lay with corporations cutting their employees because AI is "cheaper" and people proclaiming themselves as artists when all they are are prompt engineers. They're using AI to replace people, when AI should be tools to help people. And if the AI models were created using datasets that are either open source and/or with consent from the artists, there wouldn't be an issue with that.

When it was affecting digital artists, it wasn't taken as seriously. Now that its affecting billionaires, there are lawsuits. I'm just as overjoyed about the downfall of AI as the next person, but this seriously should have been a concern from the very begining. AI is no good for humanity
Especially the Bajan Billionaire herself, Rihanna who hasn’t released music since 2016 (she isn’t being affected by this, because Fenty Beauty made her a Billionaire and that is why I wrote this)
Or at least no good for our society as it currently is.
AI in the way it's being used is not a good fit for capitalism.
Eh, there can be some good uses of AI (etc in healthcare).
The issue is more that some people are so obsessed with the idea of AI doing ✨everything✨ that they fail to ask the questions even psychologists have to ask themselves before doing social experiments
"Is what we're doing going to have a net positive change?"
Ai can be a helpful tool, but it should never replace human creativity.
AI can be used for useful things. Like NPCs in games, healthcare ext ext. But people want it to do things it shouldn't

Ai music and tik tok is a devestating combination. An app full of people that change trending audios every single day and tool that can massively produce music. Its so over😊
It's not only over, it never even _started,_ really.
the sad thing is that before ai generation hit this point, tiktok and small musical artists was a great combo. so many people were exposed to such niche artists and it jump-started a lot of careers. but applying that dynamic to artificially generated music being peddled for cash by these creatively and morally bankrupt posers is so fkd. automation and ai should be used to fill in the gaps of menial tasks no one wants, or to complete tasks that humans cannot do. it should not capitalize maliciously on an industry built on the backs of artists that wanted nothing more than to create and have their art heard by the world. this industry would have never existed without those creatives, and to try to infringe and capitalize on their most cherished art form AND facilitate it by STEALING their art is repulsive and anti-human. i hope the cases brought up in this video facilitate some progress in securing creatives’ rights, and real legislation for responsible and ethical ai.
I mean at least they’ll stop ruining good songs??? Idk I’m trying to see a bright side here 😭
@@ferntheinklingi dont think tiktok ever actually ruined songs. people who said might have just been the type that found tiktok as a whole to be cringe or terrible, or were just gatekeeping the music and acting elitist that they knew certain songs before it got popular. it's basically another version of the folks who thought they looked cool for acting like they were better than others for knowing artists or songs way before they started playing on the radio.

I appreciate your video. Something that seems to get glossed over a lot is that awkward feeling of liking something and then finding out it was AI generated. The frustration. The guilt. The desire to rationalize it. It's complicated because we used to just be able to appreciate whatever we wanted. But, now, it feels like we have to vet everything before-hand to check and make sure it isn't "tainted."
Anything I want to share with others, I feel like I have to personally trace back to its origin to prove it was created by a human.

YES YES YES!! You're so right
Exactly, technology and progress are not inherently bad, but when you have horrible tech monopolies using it, and creating tools that are exploitative in nature it's like well hows this new thing going to be used to exploit me in a new way
It sounds like you're imagining an ideal world that doesn't exist lol

a drunk cigarette is referring to the fact that many people who have never regularly smoked (or had previously quit) will smoke when drunk. people will call it a drunk cigarette as a qualifier that smoking is not typical behavior for them. the song didn't invent that phrase, its been around for a while.

The song fueling MY fears about AI is "It's time to shit on the company's dime"
Today's music keeps getting crazier and crazier and not in a good way!
@@lazesquivel2677 totally agreed!!! i don’t want music made by machines to become the norm!!!!
@@oneminuteoff not at all! Music is an art and form of expression that comes from a/the soul that we relate to in our happiest of times and darkest of moments. AI will never be able to relate to the emotions of human beings and our life experiences.
i love when youtube recommends me awesome tiny channels
I genuinely enjoy those meme “songs” where there’s just an ai voice reading out mean comments to a slapping tune
omfg i remember seeing this song on a tiktok because someone's little sister (under 10yo) was watching it, and i INSTANTLY hated it, i didnt even know it was AI... now i hate it more lol
It’s unbelievably catchy 😭 I’m worried about ai music ruining hard working artist’s careers ☹️
But the really cool thing is that ai will never be able to innovate music. it could make cool stuff theoretically, but bending the rules while knowing what actually sounds good is a human only thing (which is reaaaally the only part of music i care about. the weird stuff that sounds cool.)
i’m sorry but do yall have the music taste of a toddler? how is this catchy or good in anyway??
It's catchy is a horrible "get this out of my brain NOW" way
@@kunpunko yeah I definitely think that it is the most awful song, but every time it comes up on my tik tok it’s in my head. It’s infuriating!
0:46 IS THAT CHRISSY?
Before Girly Girl Productions there was Sugarplxm and they made Ai music using Melanie Martinez voice and basing them on her interludes and unreleased songs. I can't lie, i used to listen to them but now i'm not sure what to think of it. Ai is growing way to fast and it's starting to scare me.
Fear is the best you can hope for when it comes to evoking emotion with AI music
There was also a song called “Girly secret”
YOU’RE SO UNDERRATED. IMMEDIATE FOLLOW
I didn't know they had an entire album I thought it was only one song
Sounds like a "girly" version of one bad gloop
They did post a TikTok showing that only the vocals are AI, the sounds are made themselves and they throw in some splice loops. I also just think people just hate fun lol and are taking them way too seriously 😂
I literally just saw this on instagram and started screaming with laugher at that chorus. Jesus christ lol
For a smaller creator your speaking pattern is so professional commentary creator. The pacing is very fun! Love it!
Y’all. This got me listening to some of the songs. The “Girls Like me” song?? Absolutely INSANE. I’m flabbergasted.
It’s so relateable ❤ all girls can relate to that one
The title & lyrics sounds like Twitter posts from Charlie xcx fans put through a food processor.
This reminds me of press surrounding Kraftwerk in the 70s. They were the first well known band that was fully electronic and they purposely evoked the paranoia surrounding that by creating robot alter egos.
I like kraftwerk! However, they are real people so I’m much more comfortable with them than AI. Because it’s all scraping data with ai
@@jamsistired I love Kraftwerk I’m just saying this has happened before. I agree this is worse
@@odothedoll2738 yeah! Of course (also i love ur profile pic I love Odo)
I've been recommended some AI remakes of songs by my favorite artist and... they're really good. I could totally imagine them being huge hits if released by popular artists, but then I remember that that's because they've stolen from popular artists. It did kinda give me a crisis cause I felt guilty listening to it and scared that producers might start to secretly use AI, but like.. it's good.
no bc lowkey seeing girly girl blow up knowing they just used chat gbt and not me when i wrote EVERYTHINGGGG is driving me crazy 😭😭😭😭
(As a side-note, I think it’s an effect that can be achieved without AI, like how vocaloids like Hatsune Miku work.)
So overall, I think it’s mostly a human generated song where the vocals are dubbed by AI.
(though i dont think thiis case is a good example of that 😭 but people have dif tastes)
not even just local scene, there are sooo many good musicans and artist that exsit out there in the world. it's similar to the critcism people give pop music. "well these songs on the radoi are bad so ig all music today is trash" like no. ur rlly not looking hard enough, like at all. good (while subjective) music still exists. like just put some random playlist on youtube or spotify. click on that random song that has 10k views or that super niche band no one has heard of that youtuve randomly recommened.
that's how ive come across so many of my current faves. . you are bound to come across AT LEAST a few songs -> the musican -> similar ones and find someone you like :D
hyperpop doesn’t deserve this 💔💔
I was SURE Suno AI made it before she said anything lol.
love ur voiceeee and listening to uu!! great video ,keep goingg!!!
Honestly these songs are bad but, the ai is getting better, and it’s scaring me
I don’t have TikTok anymore but this song was on my Spotify discover weekly a few weeks ago and I am baffled to say the least
seven more lines of coke
I’m super conflicted too. As an artist and animator, I’ve already run into issues with AI literally stealing jobs away. I have been PERSONALLY affected negatively by AI art being used. I think AI can be used ethically by creators as long as it’s not major companies stealing wage from underpaid employees and it’s being used in a way that takes obvious effort on behalf of the creator. For example, BOIWHAT does fun original songs using voice AI but he’s clearly still writing it and using the AI over his own voice, to sound more like the characters he’s using. He’s doing all the work but using AI to further the fan music. (I also don’t think this takes work from the voice actors cuz I highly doubt Tom Kenny would have the time or maybe even desire to sing a fan made country song in spongebobs voice.)
However, there’s no way of knowing the effort that was human labor for 10 drunk cigarettes.
There’s something weirdly 2010s about it lmao
Personally, I don't mind AI. It's clearly the usage and training that's the problem. Major issues with it lay with corporations cutting their employees because AI is "cheaper" and people proclaiming themselves as artists when all they are are prompt engineers. They're using AI to replace people, when AI should be tools to help people. And if the AI models were created using datasets that are either open source and/or with consent from the artists, there wouldn't be an issue with that.
