That's why you want to start out with breath... and deep core work for activation before you go for "sexy" harder moves! Absolutely 100% ... you'll find dozens of videos here on that!
You can do core regularly- even daily but I'd suggest you go to the playlist and find different ones to rotate! The core needs unique stimulus regularly !

I keep the glutes squeezed throughout the glute bridges , single and double
during the reps yes, between release. Part of training well is both turning on and off!
