I vote for the last layout with WHITE sashing. The black is too bold for me and it draws my attention. The white allows the blocks to take center stage and the quilt is light and cheery. Hello the the Engineer!

I actually like the white sashing; I was able to see the bolder color in your blocks with the white framing them. The black to my eye kinda took over the quilt.
I liked both the layouts on point that you had.

Love, love, love the standard fare❣️ this looks like sew much fun. When do you take the paper off, after the block is done or after the whole top is sewn together? I also like the black sashing. Thank you Di for a new way of making log cabin blocks. Have a great weekend 💕

    • @sisterchicksquilting

I’ll starch, trim then the paper comes off. I see them together with our paper because I don’t want the additional work of removing tiny papers in the seams. Hence, the reason I stitch. Thanks Jan😊❤️🐥

Starting with BLACK then into GRAY and then into WHITE OR Starting with WHITE then GRAY then BLACK?? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m suggesting this because of the different colors in the Log Cabin “Half” quilt block pattern. Why do you need paper. Do this looks very constructive. I do like the paper method.❤
Teal or green something way out there for a change .🐦🙏❤

The paper provides stability and a foundation. Another color could work 👍🏼 TFW😊♥️🐥

I like the tipsy turvy layout🙃I am watching from the exotic state of nevada.
Love this quilt. I usually use 108 fabric for my backs that way piecing isn’t necessary .

❤ okay sweetheart, it is my opinion, unlock the Black sashing. Same as if it just pops the colors and makes more sense and your design love your design of going up and then the next block down and so forth yes it gives it some organization very very lovely and appealing ❤❤❤❤❤ good job little chick keep them coming❤

Hello! From Morehead, Kentucky. I like the black sashing the best; and, the standard fair layout. Spider's web patterns sewed into a quilt are supposed to bring good luck.

I'm seeing you used multiple pieces of batting...did you actually piece them or just overlap slightly. Interested as I'm always trying to avoid using a brand new piece of batting. I have a cabinet full of scraps.

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I had to watch the video to see what you mean by "multiple pieces of batting" because there isn't any in it. But I saw where I said, "the batting is showing through," and you might assume I was using batting.
So, these blocks are laid out on my design wall quilt, which has a batting surface. I noticed that by leaving off the the black sashing the design wall quilt mimicked white sashing. This quilt is only in blocks and isn't even pieced together yet.
Here is a link to my design wall quilt so you can understand what I'm talking about.

thanks for sharing this method of making these blocks! I've never thought of using colouring book pages. Great idea. I am going to be on the hunt for colouring books now....lol. As this video was posted 4 weeks ago I am sure your quilt is finished. But I thought I'd put my 2 cents in...lol. I like the black for showing off the colours however when I make this (and I will), I am going to make the black very narrow. Quarter or half inch. That way the blocks will still be framed but the black won't overtake the blocks and be so prominent. thanks again for sharing my dear!

No Debbie, my quilt isn't finished and I like your idea of making the strips even more narrow than what I have now. Thanks you. I plan on doing a trunk show for a video next summer and I will definatly have to have that quilt done for that video. Thanks for watching my channel :)
