Yes, sundar was selected in the first test coz of the agar syndrome, how do you drop one of the gabba heroes right after the gabba test, even if he's exactly similar to ashwin - selection has to be situation-based though, only reason sundar played the gabba was bcoz ashwin was injured, u can't try to fit sundar in as a jadeja when jadeja turns the ball the other way. In batting in the Aus series they went with prithvi Shaw due to a Joe burns syndrome - can't drop the bloke if he made a decent score last test series regardless of first class form since then

I have to say after watching a few of your videos I now find me self humming the backing track at random. Quality video again. Who would of thought there would be an agar conundrum?
So I have a metric I've developed called "Value Above Replacement Player" Only three Test spinners with over 100 Test wickets have a VARP of more than +100% (meaning that they're 100% better than a replacement player). Those three spinners are Hedley Verity, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ravindra Jadeja
in all sincerity and earnestness, I would love to know more about this. Did you model it from baseballs WAR rating? Is it bowling only? Just thinking about how Warne didn't make the cut, despite being an above average #8 and world class fielder. Do you have a blog or website where I could read about it?
I can understand the economy. Wrist spin is an attacking option and they are more in the team to take wickets than hold up an end. They will bowl more bad balls than the finger spinner but as they get far more revs on the bowl when they land it in the right spot they are more likely to take wickets. In only rare players like warne who could hold up an end as a wrist spinner.
Another great video, Jarrod! I have a request. Could you make a video on fielding? It's one aspect of cricket that's not discussed enough. Great job with the videos, keep them coming!
