Jajeja is a machine with sensational numbers, stokes has offered England something hard to measure especially since captaincy and so often is the man of the big moments.
Englisher here, he's definitely one of my favourite players. He's also one of the top 4 I DONT wanna see on the team sheet when we play the mighty Indians.

Without a doubt, Mr. Ravi Jadeja has indeed been a Very Valuable Player for India in all formats and for CSK in the IPL. Also, unlike many other good batsmen including the current greats from Pakistan, he is able to strike the ball and score at a high rate right away, when appropriate and needed. And like many other greats, he needs a good supporting cast also!!
I struggle to imagine an India test side without Jadeja and Ashwin. Together they are worth a lot more than 2 players. Maybe they are both worth 3-3.5 players. So grateful to have watched them play in this 2nd golden age of Indian cricket.
Great analysis and I agree with the conclusion. Though, I think you have to look at aggregate runs too and not just averages & similarly total wickets too. Averages can be deceiving for eg number of not outs for someone who bats lower down vis a vis top order. Another way to look at this would be percentages - % of runs scored in team total and % of wickets taken for the team. Would give a direct value of the player in the team's over performance
Yes. I assumed this was obvious. He's make every Test team in the world and be one of their best players. Holder, a very good cricketer, averages less than 3 wickets a Test so he is NOT a front line bowler. He is ALMOST a bowler and ALMOST a batsman. However, West Indies really need him. He wouldn't make the top teams though. Stokes is in the same boat but a better batsman. I'd forgotten about Faulkner. Very decent cricketer. Shame about his death. Jadeja is MVP and possibly the best player in the world. Also, you glossed over his fielding. Fielding is crucial. He is brilliant. If I was playing some sort of Cricket Fantasy competition. Jadeja would be my first selection. Of course this is just the opinion of an ill informed cricket tragic.
The millenial kid in me always hated Jadeja for his botched up performance in that Sachin's iconic 175 run loss match. But the more wiser I get, the more I start appreciating Jadeja for all the performance he has been doing in the last 5-6 years and the more admiration I have for Dhoni for keeping him (& Rohit) in the team as "CSK Quota" player. Time is some bitch for Sir & MaggieMan 😅😅😅
Moieen Ali statistics don't actually give insight into how good of a off spiner he is nor how good of a batsman he is. The actual problems he causes with the bowl has to be seen to be belived, likewise the actual effect of his batting has to be seen also. But if we left everything to the judgments we would be leaving our judgments to opinions of experts alone which suffer from being right or wrong; statistics on the other hand provide a general indication.
he is a good batsmen but as an indian i never rated him as a bowler and mf still ends up destroying our batting order, i think our batsmen have the same opinion as me about his bowling, they overattack him take him lightly and loose wickets against him. tbh as good as our current team is we had never had a team so bad at playing spinners, likes of sehwag, ganguly , laxman, dravid and sachin would not even let him ball below the economy rate of 4.5 to 5
Probably just Jadeja. And Shardul would be the 4th pacer but I would rather have Bhuvi in there. Not sure why he has been ignored for red ball cricket. He's definitely a better bowler than Thakur and he's a handy no. 8
He has made 2658 runs in 64 tests. An average of 41.53 per Test. A typical batsman will contribute 65+. He’s a lower order contributor only. No way a number 5. He’d be exposed there. Record boosted by not outs. A fabulous all round cricketer, but within this, his batting is overrated. And how does a spinner bowl so many no balls? Small sample size but Jadeja has scored 68 runs in 7 innings batting above 6 (4-5) at an average of 9.71.
If hardik plays WTC final , it can be really useful ! I know it's out of the box but hardik has improved his bowling , he can provide this Indian team a right balance
You didn't even mention the fielding prowess of sir jadeja still considered him MVP. He's truly one the greatest fielders ever.
He did
Yes, this--- "Stokes and holder are at slips and more useful". He creates chances even if there aren't any. Remember that smith runout in 21 BGT?
You do the best representation of cricket data, my friend! Easy to understand and some eye-catching plots. Keep up the great work! 😊👍🏽
