    Watch for background on O2 and AFR sensors, where to purchase at a good price, and comparing real authentic Denso sensors from Rockauto with imitation sensors from eBay sellers.
    This vehicle showed DTC's (Device Trouble Codes) P1135 and P1155, indication issues with O2/AFR sensors on Bank 1 Sensor 1 and Bank 2 Sensor 1, both upstream O2 sensors. The codes were read with Torque Pro on Android Tablet, available for download from Google Play Store and used with a OBD2 Bluetooth adapter,
    Real Densor sensor and imitation/fake sensor are compared side by side, with regard to packaging, appearance, and construction.

    2010 upstream driver's 02 sensor replaced oem original denso today with a $16 ebay my vehicle specific 02 sensor , vehicle noticeably ran rough , original issue for reason of replacement was a Chevy cel code of p015b , only noticeable change with regard to the vehicle was the cel illuminated , so a brand new eBay vehicle specific 02 sensors are just visually correct but with no function but to screw and plug in and cause a cel code

      There is no such thing as an ebay sensor, ebay sells nothing, you can buy everything you can buy on rock auto on ebay. But what do I know, I only sell about 500k worth of parts every year on ebay, so I have no experience. The problem is you are inexperienced at buying online and buy counterfeit items.

    Im having a problem with my New 02 sensor, skinnier wire than the old sensor caused my check engine light to turn on even faster than the very old O2 sensor i had on the car before. Should i buy a more expensive better O2 sensor? Do you recommend denso?

      The original sensor does not have any distinctive marks. A new one always comes in the distinctive Denso packaging, blue cardboard box with Denso branding, not in a generic manilla envelope or plastic bag. If not in original packaging, you can be certain it is not authentic.

    I was advised to replace my sensor with an original Toyota sensor. Aren't genuine Denso sensors the same as the ones you purchase from the dealership? I'm confused as to what the difference is. Thank you.

    • @Merryfrankster_

      The market is flooded with counterfeit/fake Denso sensors - and a lot of fake Toyota sensors too. The average person cannot tell them from an authentic sensor. Buy your Denso or Toyota parts from a trusted source. If the price is too good to be true, then it's probably not an authentic part.

      @@Merryfrankster_ I agree. I wish you tried the sensor too. For 1/3 of the price, if it worked it could save a lot of people some money. Especially for a 2002 mini van that's over 20 years old. You would have gotten your money back on the return if you had complained. Ebay always sides with the buyer. That's why I like buying from there.

  • @aznnp77
    @aznnp77 ปีที่แล้ว

    The ebay listing you clicked on was one of the more misleading ads, but a lot of sellers do similar stuff. Like you'll type in "OEM Sensor" and it'll be aftermarket. If you go to the brand column in the description it will either be a name you've never heard of, it'll be the seller's name, or it will say "For Toyota". I'm looking into a sensor now that actually claims to be Genuine NTK through and through, but it looks fake to me. So I guess I'm interested in seeing how a Chinese sensor would actually perform.
    Looks like that seller sold 241 of those sensors, and the reviews on them are pretty good. I understand some people being sticklers for OEM and having high quality products. But a lot of people just wanna get back on the road as quickly and cheaply as possible. Especially for a 22 year old mini van.

    • @Merryfrankster_

      You pay your money and your take your chances. It sucks to have to do a job twice because the new part your put it does not work as advertised. It especially sucks if you have to do this for a customer. They will always blame you for the fault, no matter what cheap junk they brought for you to put in on their car. And try warrantying one of these parts from China - you will get absolutely nowhere. Ask me how do I know that. Your best solution, given your budget situation, and your general attitude, is just leave it alone. Don't bother with a replacement. Stick a piece of electrical tape over the CEL, if it bothers you. You won't ever know the difference.

    • @aznnp77
      @aznnp77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Merryfrankster_ In the context of a customer, if they are paying you for the work, then obviously you should go with the more OEM looking part. But if you are installing these yourselves, you're saving roughly $70 by going with a part that has sold hundreds and has favorable reviews. O2 sensors are not difficult to install, especially on a vehicle from 2002. Worst case scenario even if I had to spend an hour taking the fake one off and replacing with a new sensor, I could have saved $70 on. I don't make $70 an hour so the price difference would have been worth it to me.
      You seem awfully defensive about not trying the other sensor. Another author asked and you went right at him. It was more curiosity about how a cheaper part at roughly 1/3 of the price would perform. Yes, there's "the right way" to do things, but most people who still have a 2002 Toyota Sienna are probably on the last legs of the vehicle at that point. It may not be cost effective to do everything "the right way" at that point. You can understand that can't you?
      I also noted that ebay does heavily, heavily favor the buyer. So if you tried it and you didn't like it for whatever reason, ebay would have had your back and forced the seller to refund. So the only risk was the time involved. Some people value their time more than others. Hence why some will pay $100 for an O2 sensor install that takes 15 minutes to do. Some would rather do it themselves.

If you want to poke yourself in the eye with a stick, fine, but don't try to talk other people into doing it too. Anyone stupid enough to take your advice deserves whatever befalls them. • @aznnp77

      @@Merryfrankster_ That's fair advice. Fix it the right way every time. If you can't afford it, get rid of the car. That's seriously fair advice. Many people think that way. Others are getting killed by life right now, along with $9 eggs and $4-5 gas, so they don't have the luxury of getting another car and if a $40 sensor works, that extra $70 is a godsend.
      I usually fix mine the right way, but I've paid for my car 2-3 times over at this point. You can attack me for not having as much money as you if you want. That's fair too I guess. I probably deserve it for putting myself in this financial situation.

    What is the resistance of the orginal?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This can vary by sensor. For a heated O2 sensor the resistance of the heater circuit can be 10-15ohm at room temperature, higher at operating temperature. The signal circuit cannot be diagnosed by resistance. For AFR sensors the heater resistance varies by type also.

    You did not buy a fake denso. You bought a sensor that have similar size and perhaps performance of a Denso. The Ebay post does not say Denso. So you bought an aftermarket.
    It is not illegal or immoral to sell aftermarket. Other manufacturers can use similar model "numbers" that does not mean trademark infringement or selling fake. This the lesson Intel learned in 1980s when it sued AMD for using 386 or 486 models for their chip set.
    Judge ruled that numbers cannot be trademarked only names.
    You got what you paid for no more no less. The video was informational on learning the difference in quality. I gave it a "like". Thanks for posting it.

    Ebay sensors, tell me what an ebay sensor is as ebay sells nothing, and the only thing you can get with an ebay logo on it is poly mailers, boxes, and packing tape. I liquidate closed parts stores, dealerships, etc and sell them on ebay. So according to you, when I buy a truckload of overstock from Pepboys and then list 1000 denso o2 sensors on ebay, they are now ebay o2 sensors? And you think if a "sealed" package with an o2 sensor in it and a denso anti seize packet makes it authentic? Boy you have a lot to learn.

    • @stevenhaffley9852

      Not to mention you didn't order denso sensors from ebay, you ordered fake counterfeits from ebay that do not claim to be denso. This video is a sham from someone obviously biased against ebay. People that counterfeit densos put the same anti seize packet in a sealed bag, according to you if it has a denso anti seize packet it's authentic, lol.
