    FYI, in case you weren’t aware, there’s a beta version of an iOS app in the TestFlight program. Seems to work fine.

      Yep, I'm using it now. I'll probably do a video on it soon. That just recently came out though, and I had made this video a while ago. Thanks!

    I gotta learn how to hard wire! I'm going to be receiving this unit in a couple of weeks and don't wanna go wireless again like I did with my Marantz sr8012. I'm binging on your videos about this processor!

      Nice! Watch them all as I definitely learned a few things along the way. I'd recommend the STR videos too. You should love it!

      Yep, thanks for getting "down into the weeds" with this one. I'm literally taking a break after working all day on my HT build. Over 2 years into it now, and I think I'm less than a month away. Absolutely considering this or the Emotiva for my first ATMOS capable PrePro.

      Awesome! Hope the space delivers everything you want out of it. I’d vote Anthem. 😄

    I have an all SVS speaker system and they have a surround speaker that has duet mode where you can use one surround speaker in a stereo mode thus you can have 1 speaker for the back Left & Right. Maybe you can check to see if Focal has a similar surround speaker. Just a thought. Thanks for taking your time going through and explaining the menu items. I hate that the HDMIs won't be shipped with 2.1. I really think it's a money grab. As far as I know none of the 2.1 upgrades are free. Correct me if I'm wrong. Great Videos!! The Old Man!

    • @Techthusiasm

      Thanks for the idea, but I don't need the single surround back. The way I redid the room, I was able to properly allow for dual surround backs. So all good.
      The Anthem HDMI 2.1 is supposed to be a paid upgrade. TBD how much or when it will come, but I'll get it ASAP and cover it for sure.

    This was a helpful rundown, thanks for this. Looking forward to seeing you run the room correction software to see how that goes. I’m close to pulling the trigger on one of these but not knowing what the exact HDMI 2.1 solution will look like is definitely holding me back.

      Yeah, I'm thinking soon here I want to get into like a home theater 101 style series of beginner videos. Would be fun to make and helpful to folks I'm sure.

    Great over view of arc. I would like to hear your thought on Arc Genesis and Bass management after calibration?

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I have recorded a full ARC calibration on my room and will publish that sequence in a separate video. I also plan another video going over the finer details of the ARC calibration, show my speaker measurements and the ARC effect, and more. Stay tuned.

      @@Techthusiasm I’ll be looking forward to it. I ordered the AVM90, which is why I’m asking. A lot of people who own current gen have stated that it runs your channel levels HOT, so I wonder if you encountered the same issue

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say my room is louder, yes. I watch movies on the Anthem at like -25 dB. On the AV7704, I was more often at like -10 dB.

    • @dadevastator24_77
      @dadevastator24_77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Techthusiasm so it does run channel levels hot? I believe Anthem doesn’t have a reference level

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultimately, yeah. After a few more movies, I'm often at -25 to -28 and it's loud. I need to experiment and learn a lot more about using ARC and the ins and outs of getting a good cal and curve out of it.

    Really enjoying your reviews of this product. I too am on the edge of purchasing but have a couple of queries that you may be able to confirm? Does the AVM70 have a "auto" surround mode / stereo mode that automatically decodes the input coming in (Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, DVD-A, DSD, PCM etc.) and automatically switch to that?
    I also noted in this video at the input section you can select what video input and what audio input you want. In my case of listening to SACD, can you select the video input to off as I have the dedicated video only HDMI 1 output going to the TV and the HDMI 2 audio only output going to the Denon AVC I currently have (AVC-4700H). I get audio drop outs unless I turn the TV on, so if you could select video as off on that particular input, it would be handy amd would address this ongoing issue I have - thanks in advance.

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems to me that the processor will return to whatever surround mode you last chose for a given signal on a given input. So once you've verified everything once, you should be safe to not worry about it again.
      The input management is really cool with the whole idea of virtual inputs and being able to mix/match things. I haven't seen drop out, but I have found some of the HDMI handshaking requires me to change inputs and back sometimes to get a video signal, but that has mostly been with zone2.

  • @ThePaulromi

    What is the input name character limit? Can you fit Kaleidescape?

      Not sure on the limit, but yes, Kaleidescape fits in full.

    Hi, it's happening to me that since yesterday every time I turn on the TV the Anthem AVM 70 turns on. I obviously have CEC activated, but this is regardless of the problem of turning on the Anthem.
    How do I solve?

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like CEC. You need to disable in across the devices in the link that should stop. Sometimes CEC just does that, I have found.

    I have 70 for more than 6 months and your DSP 0000 is a issue You will find out once you start the unit up! You will need to do a hard reset

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It hasn't caused any issue I can notice. I just double-checked though and now it shows the DSP as 03.00/05.86.

      @bocfo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Techthusiasm good. Now that it shows the proper number! Sometimes during g a update you will get the 0000 and you will get no sound! and the only way to force it to update again by unplugging, push the power button about 5 times (discharge’s capacitors) then plug back in and turn on - this will restart the failed update process. The 70 is a great processor- enjoy

    • @davidlawson5288
      @davidlawson5288 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The error is thrown because you are using an IP based protocol where the AVM is both providing information and receiving information. When the unit is not powered on, feedbacks, (like volume level for example) is being sent back as a two-way communication. When powered off, there is a return error saying that information was not executed. That error should go away once powered on in that zone. If you in return powered on Zone 1, and not Zone 2, and attempt some two way communication there, you should see the same error.

    Meh. This is NOT a complete overview. If it was, you would have done a complete ARC calibration, and shown all the options and settings on those screens.

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry you were expecting more in this specific video. I have recorded doing a complete ARC calibration sequence on my 7.2.4 room and plan to publish that as an independent video. Following that, I was thinking to do a full screen capture video overview of the ARC software itself. What you're looking for is coming.
