I place Tapir with Maned wolves all the time and even in the story mode. They work just fine. They just aren't enriched. In real life, Binturong work with Sun Bears for the same reason coatimundis work with Spectacled Bears. They're carnivores, and the binturong is a confident species that won't show any prey behavior around bears. I don't think Regular Hippos will work with Red River Hogs in real life though.
@@LeafProductions I've made 2 South american zoos at this point where I put the Capybara, Giant Anteater, Baird's Tapir, Capuchin and Galapagos tortoises and later the Maned Wolf when the Grasslands pack came out. then added the Collared Peccary when it was released in the most recent one. All 7 animals together work fine!
Even though I exclusively play sandbox, I love to look at the zoopedia for interspecies enrichment. Although I’m still missing some combinations like red panda/small clawed otter, porcupine/meerkat or moose/bison for example. I’d love to see them add more in future free updates
(cracks knuckles) This is a video I love! I love making mixed habitats, it adds a layer of challenge to make all the animal's needs met as evenly as possible and could complement any zoo. 1. Something I would LOVE to see is an extension added to the Animal Sociality behavior where the animals with IE can actually interact with each other. 2. IMHO, some animals are missing Interspecies enrichment. More prominent in the early animals. I'd love to see those added. A few examples: Didn't the African Savannah Elephant have IE bonus with the savannah animals in the beta? I'd love to see that reinstated. Also the Nyala should have IE with at least the Zebra, Giraffe, Springbok, Warthog, wildebeests, and ostrich. Bongo, Okapi, and Pygmy hippo should have IE with each other. Gemsbok with at least the Zebra, Ostrich, and Springbok. Adding those at least would be great.
As a new player I’m learning there’s a difference between being able to put two animals together in a habitat and them actually being enriching for each other. Most (minus large predators) you can just put together and they will be fine, but not all have enrichment.
I believe that the wombat can be included in the australia group and the armadillo could be put with the prairie dog, but im not really shure with that one.
5:58 water, earth , air long ago the three nations lived together in harmony then everything changed when the earth benders attacked, only the avatar master of all 3 elements could stop them but when the world needed him most he VANISHED 100 years passed and my brother and I discovered the new avatar an air bender named Aang all though his air bending skills are great he has a lot to learn before he is ready to save the world but I believe aang can save the world… *dramatic music plays*
I tried the asian mixed habitat, the rhino adds to complications due to the fact it requires temperate, grassland and aquatic biome and the other animals love heavy amounts of tropical plant coverage
Most animals don't suffer much from plants of different habitats as long as foliage cover is in the optimal range. However in real life i don't know if a rhino would be in an interspecies exhibit, as they are very, very strong animals when they feel provoked
My wish (that I don’t think we will see unless somebody can mod it) would be the Western Coyote/American Badger. I think it’s interesting because they are two predators that hunt together in the wild, and there aren’t many predators that could have inter species relationships like that.
Maybe there ought to be more nuance to the IE system? as in, not just on & off, but a % scale? Maybe even one that has different % depending on the habitat they're in somehow? This reminds me of places that have unexpected combinations that do in fact work out fine. Like in Pleistocene Park in far northeastern Siberia where they have Moose, Reindeer, Muskox, Camels, Bison, Yak, Horses, Sheep, all in one (very large, severl times a whole PZ map) enclosure. All that's missing are the mammoths, really. :)
My biggest "habitats" are the two sandbox maps I made for my favorite animals. Just the entire map dedicated to one/two species. More like wildlife reserves than zoo habitats. The first one was a coastal mangrove forest that had over a hundred Saltwater crocs. The second map was a large taiga forest with a river and lake dividing it in two. One side belonged to a big pack of Timber Wolves, the other side belonged to a smaller but similarly sized pack of Arctic Wolves. Aside from that, I think my largest in Zoo habitat is my "Big Herd" habitat with the African Buffalo, Sable, Retic. Giraffe, Zebra, Ostritch, Black Wildebeest, and Springbok. I think it was at 94 animals or so.
@@LeafProductions am lazy, +idk how to create creative barriers so animals dont go in different areas but stay in one habitat, but i want to keep height map somewhat accurate
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I have been waiting for this for the entire duration of the game! I do hope you'll update it after the final release of all ingame (not mod) animals in the future. It's just such a helpful tool in planning out zoos! And the way you mapped it out with the line graph thing.... ingenius! PRAISE to mighty Leaf!
If you're concerned about realism building--in real life zoos would never put prairie dogs together with bison or pronghorn. An ungulate stepping into a hole could be a death sentence, and
I wish there was mixed species for exhibit animals, especially the three South American frog species. Also- some of these mixed-species combos that planet zoo gives bonuses for are laughable, and would never work in real life (e.g., macaque/crane, prairie dog/bison), while others have a hybridization risk (e.g., ruffed lemurs). Koala/wallaby is a glaring omission for enrichment bonuses too.
I'd suggest to not put more than 3 in a single habitat, because your keeper will continue to visit the habitat continuously to dee the animals one after another. And it doesn't work if you add more than one keeper.
I’m confident that the Eurasian wild boar will get a bonus with the wisent and European deer. The wisent could also benefit from the deer as well. Maybe the ibex for all of them? The saiga might benefit from the deer, prezwalski’s horse, and bactrian camel
In terms of what is actually possible the only sets that cause conflict is the african set because the hippo and rhino fight all the rest have no conflict However the south east Asia group do have issues with foliage coverage with some animals needing more than others maximum they also have issues with soil amount conflicts. The big African habitat only has issues when you add both the desert and tropical sections since there are no plants that cover desert, tropical and grasslands South America has problems with sand levels with at least the Galapagos tortoise and capuchin having different tolerances as well as the foliage choices being very narrow with the oil palm and tomato plant being the only thing they all like due to biome distribution of the llama not including tropical It gets worse when north america is added because the foliage becomes impossible and the sand conflict gets worse.
You can make a full Safari with all of these animals in one zoo because I know how big those enclosures have to be so you can make one big inclusion like sandbox mode or like or like challenge or franchise mode when you have a good bit of money and you candestroy every freaking part of this. You’re probably gonna destroy your PC or console. I have to wait for tropical because my console doesn’t get until like like this year and like probably whenever I get it I’m going to immediately play around with it. This is gonna blow up my PS five.
I mean, if we're talking about realism, animals don't actually care about the country/continent that their roommates originate from. You could absolutely put a zebra with a Przewalski's horse, since they're pretty similar animals behaviorally. Even if they'd never encounter one another in the wild. Same with real zoos putting lions and tigers together, or even tigers and domestic dogs. On the other hand, it's always a risk to put anything with horns together with an animal that doesn't have horns. (Even same species domestic polled breeds with their unpolled counterparts.) Since they might try to play using their natural behaviors, and end up injuring the hornless animal in the process. Doesn't matter whether they would share a habitat in the wild or not; in the wild they're not together 24/7 and are therefore less likely to form a bond that would entice them to playfight with each other.
