Thanks! I've been putting off switching the faceplate forever before I found this video. Also, for anyone else that is struggling to put the ribbon cable back in: I found it easier to put it back in before snapping the whole unit back into place.
Just wanted to drop a big Thank You! My fiancé bought the Animal crossing kit to convert her entire switch to look like the Animal crossing edition. I watched all three videos you have for the joy cons, back plate and then this one for the docking station and they were extremely helpful!
Everything went smoothly but iI think I may have killed my dock... I'll try it again, tomorrow. Gotta be that ribbon cable. Getting it just right was a chore!

Thanks again for another guide video! All your guides have been really helpful! I just changed out my dock plate to an NES one like yours. I was going to go with atomic purple like my switch/pro controller but there is nothing interesting to see with a transparent look on the dock plate.
I probably wouldn't get one of these but this is pretty neat. Also your channel is awesome dude. On a random note but related to the Switch, I ordered the new Hori Pikachu wireless controller, if you can get your hands on it, I'd definitely be interested in a review
So for Christmas, I was getting my sister an animal crossing front plate and I took my old switch dock apart since I have the OLED and I don't need my old dock didn't think she would be keen on me taking apart hers. Anyway, I got to the front plate only to realise it was a slide on plate...... so I didn't have to take anything apart, to begin with.....
Boy I sure am glad the tiniest ribbon connection was a blurry zoom in. It was really helpful. So the key is to get the ribbon OVER the tabs THEN under the pins. Sheesh. 15 minutes of nearly tearing the thing later I got it. There's a bit of an angle to it. 😤 The video was both helpful AND infuriating.
@@CTAtechdesk I need help, I took off my AC Limited Edition dock when I got it by accident because I never had a switch before. How do I put it on back? It went off kinda like you did it at the start of the video
Hmmmm, not sure, it is definitely something to do with that small board as that the only electronics. Have you double check the ribbons and connections?
I believe they changed the ribbon cable, I have a 2021 model and the ribbon cable doesn't have those line curves to help you stick the ribbon cable back in. My cable definitely looks different than the one from the video.
@@CTAtechdesk I just fixed it, the little "L" shaped piece was incorrectly placed there was 2 ways it could be put in the L shaped way, and then I also just took my time reconnecting everything slowly I don't know if that was the actual problem or not but thank god I have it working I was so scared I was gonna have to buy a new dock, Thanks 👍🏻

Exceptional tutorial, thank you! Disconnecting the LED light cable from circuit board was really in tight, but finally worked it out after 20 minutes.

i did this and my switch is no longer dock to the tv but it is charging how do i fix the docking issue? otherwise it is working great

Just make sure it’s in far enough. It does need to almost clip in. Keep trying, just be careful 👍🏻

I bought a used switch and went to do this but one of the back screws are stripped. Any tips?
The screws are terrible that come with the switch. Try placing a rubber band on top or the corner of a small flat screwdriver and dig and turn.

If you mean the light up sheika one, Amazon search for "PDP dock shield". It's under $30 USD.

Go back in and make sure the small circuit board os fully connected 👍🏻
