Another tip for the micro SD cards - don't waste money on faster cards. The Switch doesn't support those high-end read/write speeds. Those speeds are meant for supporting 4K devices. For example, the $250-$300 SanDisk Extreme Pro 1 TB will function the same as a $150 SanDisk Ultra 1 TB in a Switch.
Nintendo Switch has an official 516 GB one. That’s the highest officially from Nintendo. So that’ll work. Make sure it’s licensed through Nintendo though.
I feel like dark theme could increase noticeable burn in on OLED models. My pixel4a has it where the white text for time, signal and battery has been projected onto a black background permanently.
i actually found holding the switch as intended no accessories or nothing just the normal joycons it was actually really comfotable, even though i have slightly large hands it still felt nice to hold.
Also a tip, buying physical copies of games save you money AND space. On the eshop games go for the original release price while in stores or online you can find physical copies of games for half of the original price. The only disadvantages is having to wait to get the game until you reach the store or the it gets shipped from online (which is only 1-5 days usually) and switching out the games from the port everytime you wanna play anything else. Personally, I regret buying games from the eshop so i learned my lesson.
The opposite is obviously also true. There are constantly sales going on in the eShop and especially indie games and older games (unless they're first-party) tend to get discounted way more on there than physically. In fact, for older games the physical price often actually goes UP in price after a while due to limited availability. So if you don't care about owning games either physically or digitally, always check both media.
You have made some solid points however I believe it comes down to preference. When you buy a digital copy, it is tied to your account, you can’t break or lose that digital copy, as you would a physical. Even if you lose everything in a fire, all you gotta do is load your account on your new switch and redownload all your games. I don’t mind paying a premium for that. Also when it comes to space you are only saving digital storage when you buy digital games but when you buy physical games now you need a place to store that game case and as your library increases you will lose physical space in your home. I rather buy a 100 dollar 512GB microSD and not have to carry all that junk around. So like I said, preference.
For the SD cards, I’d recommend waiting for them to go on sale. I got one for 256 GB at Best Buy on Black Friday for $14 one year! I try to get them every year now.
The MTU tweak suggestion is like saying Size 10 shoes are better than size 9. It all depends on the size your feet. And in this case it depends on your internet connection. Sometimes changing the MTU to higher might even hamper the download speeds. For me for example changing MTU to 1500 actually doubles my download times. The internet is filled with guides on how to check the optimal MTU for the connection you are using.
I highly recommend the satisfye grip and hori split pads. I can’t play switch without em now. I never even thought of the airplane mode too, but I only play in handheld so that should help a bit.
You can get 2-3 hours more on your Switch in table top by using the Pro controller or another controller that is not connected to the Switch. It will start using the joycons as batteries.
I use my switch like 98%+ of the time in hand held mode. Yes! Some kind of grip is a very big plus and aids in comfort. I use a mumba case that also fits in my case that I keep my switch in so I don’t need to keep taking it off unless I dock it. Yes! Some kind of micro sd card is a must. I’d also recommend a 256gb minimum and yes the name brand sandisk red or green cards are very cheap (even better prices on sale) and work just fine speed wise and comparable to the game cart speeds. You may not think you need one or will fill it up but you eventually will. Best to get a card for digital games and leave the internal memory to just the game saves as that is the only place it will put save data. Edit: oh ya and the trick to turn off wi-fi (airplane mode) while in hand held mode to save battery is one I’ve used too and does work. As does lowering the screen brightness too as that is a major battery killer. Manually adjust it as needed in hand held mode. Don’t leave it in auto brightness adjusting.
2nd that on the Mumba case especially the new dockable one so I don’t have to remove it every time I want to play in docked mode. Love the feel/grip of it and it protects the Switch well.
If you just want ethernet on your existing dock, you can buy a USB Ethernet adapter instead of buying a whole new dock. That's what I did when I first got my Switch, and it works pretty great. That said, it might be beneficial to have an extra dock incase you have multiple rooms to play in, or want one you can take to a friend's house.
The MTU size "hack" is a good one, as long as you know exactly the MTU size, which your network is operating on. To get it not that technical: If you're having a carrier which provides you Internet via IPv6: Do not change the MTU to a size, which IPv6 cannot handle anymore (1500 as Framesize can be to large). In bad cases, your provider is dropping your packets leaving in connection loss. So, only modify the MTU size, as long as you know, what you're doing there.
I've heard many people talk about this, but I don't really understand what can happen if the mtu I set on the switch exceeds the limit of my connection. In the worst case scenario, wouldn't it be enough to set the mtu back to 1400 and everything would be resolved?
I have had a Switch since launch and this is literally the first I have ever heard of changing MTU settings for faster download speeds and, no offense, I can't believe I'm typing this comment on an RGT85 video. Thanks, sir!
I think putting your switch in Dark mode makes it look better. The all white background is bright and doesn’t look as visually pleasing as the dark mode IMO

My other advice would be to get the 1tb microsd card. 245gb or whatever gamestop carries at the largest isnt enough and is now in my cellphone
Hi, I'm recently getting a new 4k tv from a 1080p tv. It's a qled so not as good as an Oled but still pretty similar. What do you mean by it 'transformed' the games? Thanks
Binbok joycons > hori split pad. Binbok also has a "pro controller" that fits in the fixture S1 for $19! With turbo!. Fixture S1 is working on OLED model still...
You missed a very important fact about the fixture s1 mount. It doesn't work with the OLED switch. Definitely agree it's one my favorite accessory's for the switch but they need to make a OLED version.

I am not a fan of the split pad, for me. I think it makes the system feel even more massive and the fact that it lacks a lot of core features holds it back. You can get to airplane mode more easily by simply holding down the home button, when the power menu pops up. Airplane mode is one of the options in there.
Really ? I love them. I never use the joycon "freelance", so airplane mode isn't a problem for me. I use the pro controller when it's docked and the analog on the splits are just much better. I don't feel like I'm going to break it. And I bought the grip awhile ago for when I used it in handheld, which the split pad fixes for me.
I got the split pad compact because I have small hands compared to those but big hands next to joycons, the compact was just the most comfortable for me. I do miss rumble and gyro though. 😢
@RGT 85 I need some help I disabled my google on my Nintendo and I was wondering if u can make a video on how to re enable it please it would help alot
I’m tempted or thinking about upgrading to an oled switch but I’m perplexed of not knowing what to do with my OG switch… I’m mostly playing games on handheld mode but if I do get an oled switch, I hope to transfer my games and saves to it and have my OG switch docked on always as a standalone tv console.! In other words, is it possible to have the same library of games on both switches after the transfer? I have several digital games but most of my games are physical ones. If this can work then I don’t have to remove my switch constantly from the dock either playing on handheld or tv mode. While the oled switch will be my dedicated handheld and never be docked.
Are there any catches to that MTU thing I should know, before trying that? My home internet feels super sensitive, and I fear increasing my Switch's download speed could do something to it.
Hey RGT85 and followers. Can you review that graphical enhancement device that you can purchase for the switch. I believe its called the Mclassic and it’s over $100 and I’ve seen it recommended on another TH-cam channel but I’d love your opinion on it! If it’s really worth it or not.
Bruh the light never made sense too me. Got my oled as my first switch and as much as I want to take it on a hike and play outdoors ect. The more I get scared of breaking it. The light seems perfect for that.
I don’t really play online games but, when kingdom hearts cloud version comes out, that’s gonna change. Do you think it’ll still run good if I have good internet or am I going to need Ethernet? I want a fun smooth experience like on PlayStation
I got a Switch myself. My sister did pitch in a bit. My Joy-cons are worn out and are drifting. I use a different controller and while it is better and has a Zelda design it sucks that it's wired. It was cheaper than a pro controller. Why do those cost so much? I used to use a third party controller but one of the buttons is broken. I also use tape to cover up the light up part since it's too bright. It's not really an issue if the game doesn't use every button but some games use all of them. I don't like using the Switch in handheld mode. Really you can change the download speed?
I just got my Nintendo switch last week so good lookin out on the tips much appreciated. I'll be sure to subscribe so I can stay updated on what's new and for more tips. Have a great day. Peace
btw sd cards have nothing to do with san disk. They just happen to be a manufacture of sd cards. SD stands for secure digital. So you don’t need to buy San Disk. Brands to buy from include San Disk, Samsung (would be my preferred choice, Lexar (they really are popular in the camera and filming scene) But you will see a bunch of other brands that are essentially buying Samsung NAND flash putting it on an SD Card and slapping their brand on it. As long as you compare price and the 512gb card you are buying isn’t 20 dollars while the rest are 50-100, you probably are getting the real thing. Also there are utilities you can download and run on your computer that will fill up the sd card and check to make sure it keeps righting data as the fake SD cards are modified to report higher capacities to the host device. So a 32gb might report 1TB but any data after 32GB just starts to overwrite the data that was written at the beginning. The utility will make sure it keeps writing data and doesnt overwrite. Great way to make sure you actually got a legit card that can hold the amount of storage it says and not overwrite your games.
I just got my switch OLED today with my skull and Co grip and it feels so good in hand I like the split pad pro I just feel like me personally it makes the system super wide and I feel like the old it is already a little bit bigger than the regular switch and I've used the dobie grip with my regular switch to me the perfect grip for handheld mode is the skull & Co I've used it for my regular switch and I've used the one for the OLED and they both feel great in hand

I got the SC3 Pro and trying to update it but it just get stuck at 0% forever. Any tip? Superb controller in terms of feel.
How do you feel about adding a Marseille graphics enhancer to the swith OLED. Should i purchase? Thank you so much.
That fixture gaming setup is nice but it's not compatible with the OLED...is there one for the OLED...???
@RGT 85 I need some help I disabled my google on my Nintendo and I was wondering if u can make a video on how to re enable it please it would help alot
Great info!! Thank you very Much. Getting an OLED for Christmas. Very Cool 😎
I actually just bought my Switch Oled last week and this really helped. Thanks Sean!
Thank you sir. For your information just bought a oled switch.
I always enjoy these types of videos.
Happy 2022 y'all!!! Thanks for the tips especially the internet one as man the download speeds on eshop suck ;)
Recently picked up the switch OLED and wanted to try out nexigo grip on. I like the design of it and I'm hoping it's decent overall.
The fixture is great but not compatible with the new oled switch as it's 2mm longer than the og 😑
Hey Shawn I don’t know which original switch dock you have but I have the original one and the oled and both docks can update.
No, he means you can update the firmware of the dock itself as well as the Switch's operating system
I am a total ---> Nintendo Switch Oled beginner
I really wish they made S1 fixture for the OLED, for now I’m using the satisfye grip
I love the binbok joycons and the PDP fight pad pro GameCube controllers
just ordered a Nintendo Switch Lite. Thanks for the airplane mode tip
Bruh the light never made sense too me. Got my oled as my first switch and as much as I want to take it on a hike and play outdoors ect. The more I get scared of breaking it. The light seems perfect for that.
RGT How can i fix this left control drift ? It is my biggest complaint with the switch
8:00 orr you can plug the charger in...
I'm getting the OLED tomorrow RGT 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I don’t really play online games but, when kingdom hearts cloud version comes out, that’s gonna change. Do you think it’ll still run good if I have good internet or am I going to need Ethernet? I want a fun smooth experience like on PlayStation
The fixture F1 does not work with the OLED, I've tried it and doesn't work. The OLED is slightly larger.
Ethernet on the oled is slower than Wi-Fi. Something to do with the Ethernet being usb 2. MVG did a technical breakdown on the Ethernet port.
Guessing it's only useful for stability then...
Set up your wishlist. When games go on sale, you’ll get an email.
I have a question if my joy cons are on the side of the screen while its in docked mode will the switch charge the joycons while on the dock
Yes
I just got my Nintendo switch last week so good lookin out on the tips much appreciated. I'll be sure to subscribe so I can stay updated on what's new and for more tips. Have a great day. Peace
I just got the OLED yesterday, and I need to know how to change the password entry to where I don't have to enter it every single time.
btw sd cards have nothing to do with san disk.
Happy new year RGT!
Are there any settings for lost mode?
I just got my switch OLED today with my skull and Co grip and it feels so good in hand I like the split pad pro I just feel like me personally it makes the system super wide and I feel like the old it is already a little bit bigger than the regular switch and I've used the dobie grip with my regular switch to me the perfect grip for handheld mode is the skull & Co I've used it for my regular switch and I've used the one for the OLED and they both feel great in hand
I just bought Nintendo switch a month ago and this video of yours really helped me a lot. Thank you so much sir😇
I'm having a tough time thinking if I should trade my switch in for the Oled switch?
