    I took 3 hours to do the first one and 30 minutes on the second. This is such a cool skill to learn, especially for when the stick starts drifting. Thank you so much man. I honestly wanna do it again because it was so satisfying to get it right.

    • @yuiop271
      @yuiop271 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If it starts to drift you probably wont need to Open the Joy con at all. You need to buy cleaning spray for electronics. Make sure the Joy con is turned off and you spray on joystick under the little Shell of rubber. Turn the stick around in all directions to make sure the spray goes everywhere it needs to go. Then wait for 2 hours. After that you can calibrate the joycon in the settings and it Probably works perfect again👍🏼 try that first before you buy a new joystick I bought a joystick totally unnecessarily.

    • @JacobKinsley
      @JacobKinsley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Same, I wish my friends had broken joycons so I could do extreme home makeovers for their controllers.
      I don't want to buy any 2nd hand because they're only like 20 dollars less than brand new.

    • @JacobKinsley
      @JacobKinsley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@yuiop271 sometimes the issue is within the hardware inside the controller though. My flex cable for the joystick was touching the pcb underneath, which meant that the drift didn't stop no matter how much I cleaned it.

    A tip for those who don't want their springs going missing! Put the whole part with the trigger into a ziplock bag and when it's in the bag, pry the triggers off so they burst out and remain in the bag.

    my stepdaughter is looking at new casings for hers, so I looked up a vid to make sure i could do it without mucking it up. Did the right one on my own switch, just disassembly and reassembly, worked like a charm. Now i'm kinda looking forward to when she gets hers so i can do it for real, lol

    thank you for the video! took me about 3 hours to complete but its all done and working!!! i was very hesitant because i didn't want to break anything and I've never done anything like this before but if I can do it, you can too! thank you again!

    Very clear and straight to the point! After doing the right Joycon the left took me half the time. Though the only issue I've had has been the (-) button sinking in being practically inaccesable. Seemed to be a gap behind the button even with the rubber bit which confused me, but hey I got myself some animal crossing style joycons now so I can't complain ^^

    This was such a fun diy!! Even though I broke off the trigger-thing for the ZR-Button (and even tried to to order a replacement, but that would have taken 3 weeks to arrive - so...) I'd just secured it with some tape and it works again. I learned so much about controllers and due to the fixing I really got into it and tried several things to make it work. The best feeling is to push the ZR button and see the joycon lighten up again!
    Thanks for the tutorial

    If I had known how much easier this was than I’d anticipated, I wouldn’t have put it off for so many months! Proud new owner of a clear atomic purple Switch and I have Console Accessories to thank!
    Take it slow, have confidence, and it’ll be a success! :)

    Can't thank you enough for this tutorial, you're an absolute lifesaver!
    Only issue I had was assembling it and then realizing the Minus button had fallen out but luckily that was quick to be put back in. You've definitely earned a sub from me.

    You gained my sub. Great video to follow. I figured out tyr screw you missed before you mentioned it so I'm proud about that. They feel and work great. You just have to go slow while doing this all. Took an hour for the left joycon and an hour and a half for the right joycon. Probably could do them way quicker now that I know what I'm doing. I did forget to install the round sticky things thst lay on the inside of the shells where the analog sticks lay at but they seek to work like the day I bought them. I hope they wasn't for anything important.
