Angra is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in 1991 that has gone through some line-up changes since its foundation. They have released nine regular studio albums, five EPs, and three live CD/DVDs to date. Led by Rafael Bittencourt, the band has gained a degree of popularity in Japan and Europe.

He should absolutely listen to Helloween! Michael Kiske is one of the best singers from the golden metal era. "Eagles fly free", "Keeper of the seven Keys", "Halloween", live or studio, just pick any song, he (and the whole band) is always really great.
The amazing thing is that Helloween did in Germany in 1986/87 at the same time as Viper, the "proto-Angra", in Brazil. It's no coincidence that both bands, as well as their offspring (Gammaray, Shaman, etc), essentialy share the same crowd.

The name "Angra" comes from the Tupiniquin (native south american people) mythology and its the name of the Goddess of fire and beauty.
Angra is THE band that led me into listening to metal since an early age, and it saddens me to say that Fabio Lione, as good as he is, is the sole reason i don't listen to the band anymore. He simply don't belong. The other two vocalists that played with them both brought life to the sound of the band. Lione turned it really generic. So if the purpose of the video was to react to Fabio Lione, then i suggest to listen to Rhapsody of Fire, the band he sung for over 20 years. Now, if the purpose of the video was to react to the band, then i rather see the song with its original singer.
For Edu Falaschi i suggest "Millenium Sun" from their DVD Rebirth World Tour. Live stuff from him is kinda scarce, and the ones that exist maybe from a time where he was suffering with gastric reflux which has really affected his voice. He released an DVD recently in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Angra's album "Temple of Shadows" one of which is considered by many a masterpiece (and in my opinion the best album and era of the band) but it's clear for anyone that followed his carrer that his upper register is not the same even thought he did the surgery to treat the gastric reflux.
As for Andre Matos, the founding member of Angra, that sadly passed away in 2019, "Make Believe" i think is one of the best live performances with Angra. There's plenty of other stuff with his other projects thought, "Fairy Tale" being the go to video that other people reacted to when he passed away. As Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia) once said "He's the female voice in metal that i like most". His voice was on another level entirely.

For Edu Falaschi, The Shadow Hunter is a really good one.
The vocalist is called Fabio Lione, he is Italian and is the vocalist of the legendary band Rhapsody Of Fire. The video is live, the mixing work was heavy. The keyboard is a backing track that is started by drummer Bruno Valverde.

Andre was the real deal, Angra got so much worse without him.
Angra is a legendary power metal band. One of the main influences of Andrew and Grant of Unleash the Archers.
Another of their main influences is Rhapsody of Fire, were Fabio Lione did his best work. In this clip he goes straight from neoclassical operatic style vocals in one song to black metal shrieks in the next. Very live from Wacken. th-cam.com/video/ochTcTxDtPo/w-d-xo.html
Both bands still make fine music, but their groundbreaking stuff is in the past.

The version with Edu Falaschi is better. The song was written more for his voice. Fabio is Amazing though!
You could say it is a manufactured voice position because the vocals on most of these songs are reasonably high pitched and not written for his voice. The two previous Angra singers have naturally much higher vocals. If you want to hear Fabio sing more naturally you should probably listen to Rhapsody. However, I think Fabio does an excellent job and I am greatful one of my favorite bands ever is still going strong. Angra rules.
That and the fact that Fabio refuses to use head voice.
For the brazilian fans, Fabio Lione is "O Mago" (The Mage, in english). And he's from Italy, land of a lot of remarkable singers. The other members are, obviously, brazilians.
Try to watch the "Rebirth World Tour" version of the song, with the original singer, that's Edu Falaschi (Angra's second former lead vocal).

I've been to lots of their their shows since the beginning of the 2000s and their technical quality is excellent.
Angra is just the name of their home town in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is a geological term meaning a little bay at the sea with elevated shore terrain.

They don't have a official keyboardist. The guitarrists compose and record all Keys in their albums. They just pay a guest musician to play the keyboard in tours.

One day, if you want to hear more of Angra, I recommend the fabulous album Temple of Shadow and the stunning Holy Land. Different phases, but competent and wonderful vocalists.

The singer is Fabio Leone, really well known for being the singer of Italian metal band Rhapsody (of Fire). You can check out Aeons of raging darkness. Not his most epic song (they played with Sir Christopher Lee The Magic of the wizard's dream) but he goes out of his comfort zone and growls.

This is Italian Fabio Lione, he was the singer of Rhapsody, one great Italian band!!! Therefore, André Matos, Edu Falasch, and Fabio Lione are three great singers. 12:05 - Angra is just the name of a city in Rio de Janeiro state (Angra dos Reis -> Angra of the kings). and the meaning in portuguese is a little bay with mountains coming near the shorline. (I didn't know this meaning until now!!!)

That was a show recorded for a DVD but overall technical problems happened, so it was released only on youtube. Of course some corrections here and there...but these guys really play live. The drummer play to a click. It has been this way since early 2000s. Angra is the portuguese word for "creek" but this name is used in many situations in Brazil, so I think the real origin is something different for the band.

Guitarist back...the solo was originally written by Kiko Loureiro, a MONSTER guitarist. Literally any of his solos can take quite some time to get down. Tbh, the reason i finally started learning guitar was because my guitar was just sitting there, doing nothing, so i wanted to put it to good use

Second time this week I heard of Angra after never having heard of them before. The other was in a comment on Majestica - Above the sky.
Should probably look into them. I used to listen to Helloween which I'm going to rekindle as well.

Guitarist here. Writing the harmonies is easier when you know music theory. What they just played, might take some practice but it varies on how often you practice. Some people might get it up to speed withing a day, other might get in a week. It's tricky, but Angra has some more complex stuff

Yeah harmonizing guitars is quite difficult to do. Also in power metal bands like Angra this is a commom thing, maybe because is a virtuoso genre. Another band that do this in a awesome way is Lovebites, try it!!!

All of the band's albuns have a individual concept, so to have a full experience I recommend you listen to the whole stuff.
Bro, the version of Carolina IV of this same show are awesome. But you should try the live in France version of Mystery Machine, it's one of best performances of the band.

Helloween means grandfathers of power metal! They created the genre.
"Angra" means "Fire Goddess" in Tupiniquim (Brazilian tribe's region near Bahia) mythology.
I played with a harmony guitar shred band back in the day, and it can get pretty hard. You have to be in total sync with the other guitarist. Vibrato, dynamics, tone, feel all have to be in sync. And the mids have to be set on high as well.

O primeiro vocalista e um dos fundadores da banda brasileira Angra foi André Matos em 1991, então ele saiu da banda em 2000 e fundou a banda Shamam, foi substituído por Edu Falaschi que por conta da saúde perdeu a potência da voz e em 2012 deixou a banda, sendo substituído em 2013 por Fábio Todiglione (que é esse do vídeo) e ele é italiano, os outros cantores eram brasileiros, hoje Edu Falaschi segue carreira solo e Andre matos infelizmente faleceu em 2019 por causa de um ataque cardíaco.
